Don't know if many caught the poster's intent here, but the pics accompanying this beautiful piece correctly notes the emotional climate of the time perfectly - in '29, little ditties such as this were needed to remind those with deep depression that there would be better days.
This Is A Fine Example Of Why BRUNSWICK Is Among My Favorit Record Companys. Not Only Is It One Of The Most Beautiful Lables Ever, But Also Has Some Of The Most Wonderful Songs And Artest. ILOVE THIS!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING.
Very, very nice. So smooth and heart felt. I love it. Why, oh why don't they sing like that anymore? I would just buy up all the music if they made music like this once again.
Merry Christman and Happy New Year to you as well. I don't know if you are visiting NYC or if you live there, but I have a suggestion for a great play if you enjoy the theater, it is the revival of "The Homecoming", Harold Pinters great play. The first sentence in the Times review was "it really is that good!" Let me warn you it is not about a sweet family holiday homecoming.
I live in NYC, G, and I know about the play. I saw it in London some years ago. I may see this production in a while. Thanks for the recommendation. And a belated Happy Hanukah to you too, B.
I'm so sorry, please accept my belated Happy Hanukah wishes to you. I hope you get to see the play, I would love to know what you think of this production compared to the London one. I know that London productions are always superior. :)
I can just imagine my Mother dancing at the Palais de Danse in Birmingham in her 20's style dress that she had run up herself. This was one of her favourite dance tunes. Lovely.
Merry Christmas to you and your family as well. So you'll have a white postcard Xmas and we - once more - won't, although we got very close this time.
Strange, although it is already melting down, for a change we had some snow earlier than ever, whereas we usually never get any before January. Such a lovely, gentle tune, by yet another unknown band, thank you!
Very appropriate in my case too: as I'm listening to this lovely tune I can see from my window Broadway in the rain. I must say it's nothing like the disruptive rain in some of these photos, and B's three great-aunts are not to be seen.
Was there a tsunami in Poland? What happened to that house at the end of your clip? I was enjoying the lovely photos of people dealing with rain, so genle and sweet was the melody, I was sipping my glass of wine and my jumping jack shoes were tapping the floor and all of a sudden this house was on its side. Goodness gracious!!!!!!! :)
Cheerful antidote to what's happening outside my window this very moment. But how did you get that photo of my 3 great-aunts trudging through the slush about 100 years ago? (at about 2:10)
makes me want to go film

G, Merry Christmas to you, too. And Season's Greetings, too. They're not exactly the same,
but I feel silly saying Happy Winter Solstice,
especially since I'm such an afficianado of
the dark, the noir, the whole bit, esp. when it's a blue-black with a few shimmers of purple.
