This guy needs to explain what he's doing while hes doing it...Or in other words SHOW HIS WORK. When he goes from 7x-4(3x+2)=7 to 7x-12x-8=7..He just simply says "when we simplify" he needs to show that he multiplied -4(3x) and -4(2) to get -12x-8=7...You can't just do math equations in your head and not tell anyone what your doing... People can't read minds and 90% of people will get lost at that point. Especially if your just learning

@boulops this comment is old but i want to reply it.He means that you already know how to simplify it.teachers can't explain every step they do every time they explain something,it would become a very long lesson.if someone doesn't know how to simplify,has to just search a lesson about it.It's just my opinion

I don't care how much advanced math one eventually takes, e.g., calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, etc. Strong skills in algebra are the key to all of it! Back in my days as a teaching assistant, I found that most all the errors on exams where related to simple algebraic mistakes.

Ya this is poorly done..but what he did was this

7x-4(3x+2)=7

at this point what you have to do is the brackets ( multiply )

-4 multiplied by 3x = -12x ( now we do the other number in the bracket) -4 multiplied by 2 = -8.... so after we replace the 3x with a -12x and the +2 with a -8 then cancel out the -4 , were left with 7x - 12x - 8 = 7.
