  • "Its magazine contained only 20 rounds, meaning that it had to be constantly reloaded"

WTF kind of small arm, automatic or not, doesn't need constant reloading? Seriously... they should have said something like it had to be reloaded more frequently, therefore could cost the soldier his life while he reloaded in the face of enemy fire.

  • Isn't the MP-44 the STG-44 in World at War? Also known as the first assault rifle?

  • if you want a argument why 7.62x39 or 7.62x51 as opposed to 5.56 or 5.45, what the STG44s 7.92x33 bullet does to the wood cover and the poor man behind itis pretty impresive and scary. Call me traditional, but it believe that a military grade weapon should have the power to punch through cover and kill the enemy on the other side.

  • Greetings everyone! My name is Tim and I am a military historian. I have just publishe a book all aboutt the Battle of the Bulge. The title is: THE ARDENNES ON FIRE: VOLUME ONE. In it, I provide extensive detail on the massive German military buildup prior to the launching of this massive assault. Then, I describe the first 24 hours of the German attack in precise detail. The book has 101 photos and many fine maps. You can purchase it through Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble. You'll love it!

  • the ak-47 was like a copy of stg-44

  • in concept only. the true copy of the STG44 is the CETME and G3 family. The AK is completly different internally.

  • Did you notice they didn't let him reload it? How ridiculous.

  • The Sturmgewehr 44 is simply the best, all assault rifles of today are made after the Stg 44!All German technology is always the best no question about it!

  • StG44 influenced almost every aussault rifle. Nice weapon, looks great =)

    greetz

  • The B A R was not notorios for jamming. It was a reasonably reliable weapon.Yes it was large and cumbersome bu tnever the less a very good weapon! Clyde Barrow thought so!!!!!

  • if germany won over russia the war would have gone on for another year..................unless us used there atom bomb on germany

  • I'm sure he's firing blanks, I've fired that weapon before and its recoil is just like hell.

Fire the BAR like he does and I think it will be more of an anti-aircraft gun.

  • So u didn't see the splash of the rounds hitting behind the targets?

  • STG 44 is gorgeous. just a awsome looking infantry assault rifle

  • @Silnius I gotta admit, I'm more of a karate girl, an actress, studying the Resistance: working on the first groups of young resistants, mostly Communists, in Paris,; but damn would I want to fire one of those Sturmgewehr 44 !!

  • the reason the stg 44 or mp 44 was in short supple was cuz hitler didnt like them and ordered product to stop until later in the war but it was to late to save germany

  • well to be more realistic, it was expensive to manufacture and time consuming, even with Stamp metal technology, like the MG-42 it was ahead of its time

  • The MP44 aka the Sturmgewehr 44, the Godfather of all Assualt Rifles.

  • Did he say 69 ton tank!!!

Holy shit I had no idea they were that large, were those the tiger tanks?

  • I think the 69 ton tank was a king tiger

  • Konigstiger-KingTiger

  • The King Tiger was a good Heavy Tank for Large Open Country, but used in the confines of a city, the Tank was useless.

  • The German army is incredible, always leading the way with technology.

No wonder we got our hands on Wernher von braun to help with our space program.

  • @weiliiiiiii The Germans are ahead economically but technologically, the US army is still the Most advanced in the world. The Germans own the best tank, but we helped them, and we own the Second best, The M1A1 Abrams. We also have the best navy and some even say airforce. We have UCAV's, The Comanche, Apache, AC-130, and most of all, the A-10 Warthog, the best air- to ground aircraft in the world. I dont know if you were talking about Modern or WWII, but they were in WWII.

  • 6:39 looks like Norway :p

  • the bulet stuck in the ejector is not a jam but a "Stovepipe" : - "A firearm malfunction in shooting in which the empty cartridge case jams vertically in the ejection port of the gun instead of being thrown clear, a condition usually caused by not holding the firearm correctly, or "limp-wristing".

  • yea all SS oficers were evil almost all!

  • You gotta love the evil music when the guy picks up the MP-44. It says "uh oh we're in deep sh*t now" lol.

  • Aw hell, they didn't just say that about the BAR did they? Morons.

Sure it's heavy, but it's a monster and it's light enough for one man to carry. Tremendous penetration through wood and thin metal with the AP ammo, easily controlled and accurate, tough as hell, etc...

A fine rifle in every way.

  • the BAR was an odd weapon. Not an assualt weapon or a true light machine gun. However it's 7.62x63mm is very impressive. To think this was desgined in WW1 is amazing!

  • Comment removed

  • @kingtiger88 Though it was amazing.. If troops doesn't value it. It was meaningless after all.

  • @kingtiger88

yeah totally, i think the bar was only effective when used on a bi-pod, but where the americans lacked i nthe machine gun department, they more than made up for it with the M1 rifles vs the germans rifle,

  • @Creedo77 no, i dont think so. the bar was kind of the squad machine gun. the germans squad machine gun was first the mg34, then teh mg42. that beast of a gun fired 1200 to 1500 rounds a minute...

  • @1993heavenshallburn didnt the americans have the thompson ?

  • @lesterclaypool1 yes, they had, and the m3 grease gun. but those are submachineguns, the american version of the german mp40.

  • @lesterclaypool1 yes, they had, and the m3 grease gun. but those are submachineguns, the american version of the german mp40.

  • @1993heavenshallburn you see i see it the other way around ,, because the thompson was designed in 1919 and the mp 40 in 1938 ,,, so to me the thompson was first

  • @lesterclaypool1 i just meant that the thompson was the equivalent of the german mp40. and hey, that wasnt the first submachine gun ever. that was the german mp18.

  • @1993heavenshallburn oh no i know it was nt first ,,and i do say it was a good as the mp 40 ,, i was just stating it was used and i believe it was a very useful gun ,, more expensive than the m3 but a good gun ,,, and the mp18 was not the first machine gun [1718 j puckle ] and again[ 1861 richard gatling ] i believe these were the first

  • @lesterclaypool1 i was talking about submachinguns that can be controlled by one man, not a full sized machinegun.

  • @1993heavenshallburn i was taking about machine guns

  • @lesterclaypool1 well, i was talking about submachineguns. ha! xD

  • @1993heavenshallburn ha ? whats that about ? ,,, did i miss some thing ? i dont even know what the point of this discussion was but thats fine have a good day .

  • Only drawback is the 20 round magazine, the BAR could of been adapted to take a drum, would of worked alot better in the squad support role.

  • @chinesecommunist

It was a light machine gun, not a rifle, and in its class (machine gun) it was a very weak weapon, especially compared to the MG42. Only 20 rounds so pretty much suppressing fire was not an option.

  • @chinesecommunist it is very much a good weapon, but believe me, any weapons expert would tell you that the Stg 44 or MP 44 was the best small arms of the war, maybe not as significant coz not many were made and it was only produced in 1944 but nonetheless, the best light weapon of WW2

  • @chinesecommunist yeah right, there are alot of people tellin you the german weapons were way ahead of the time. but in my opinion the us infantry weaponary was well balanced and fuckin sexy....

  • @chinesecommunist snow...a BAR in deep snow. what's your comment about it?

  • looking at the person shooting, it doesn't mater if he uses a bar or mp44... he still cant hit the target LOL!

  • yea :D

  • the muas tank was much too big, slow, expensive to build, and underpowered to be an effective AFV.

  • No, no and no.

  • The Hertzer was everything the maus tank was not. At that point of the war it just want the german army needed and all it could afford to build in decent numbers. Yhe jadpanther was the optimal AFV for germany at that time. what could the maus tank do? Use it like the Elephant? A single strong-point, easly by-passed or hit in the air or by arty that the allies possessed in mass

  • Yes, I know, I know.

It was a rolling bunker, to slow to advance, and to slow to retreat ;) It had at the front 20 and 24cm thick armor!!

  • the maus land battleship could have worked well at the battle of berlin and the during the battles of east prussia if well supplied with ammo, fuel and if well supported by soldiers.

  • the muas tank was one of the german tanks that i wish the german had more time to produce. they only made two, one was destroyed, and the other maus was captured by the russians. this tank was twice the size of the king tiger

  • Being able to anticipate weather, (thanks to offshore U boats), makes me all the more curious why Hitler chose to move the wounded battleship Tirpitz during a time of cloudless skies

  • I want more!!!! Thank you!!!
