Boy, you guys are tough critics. She's great! That little girl is doing awesome things with that guitar. Keep uploading her work-please! And hoo-ray for dannyboyrocker's comment. I agree 110%!
I Think Miss Anna, who I have upmost respect for as a musician, and a much better guitarist than me, interprets this piece as she does because the tempo marking is at 80, which is about what she's playing at, here. However, I do miss the tambora/rhythmic aspects. I think it is shameful, extremely critical, and rude to call her a "terrible musician". She's an incredible musician and artist! This is simply her intrepretation!! She plays very fluid, very precise, with incredible tone and phrasing.

@dannyboyrocker thats true at this level there are not bad guitarists just different interpretatons of the same piece.. but what i found is that her sound is too "cold".. i think that she has always been a bit more focused on the technical aspects of music rather than being worried about the emotional interpretation but again like someone already said in this forum people have different tastes in music so we just have to accept her interpretation of this fantastic piece
something very deep when you appeared on the screen. excellentconoserte need a god in person, I have videos on youtube playing electric guitar, also some Spanish, but I damaged a finger of right hand and played with the electric spike. sergio pacholka on youtube. please contact me, I felt all
I have no problem with the tempo chosen and her tone is good.
Still, the tambora shouldn't have been omitted and she lets too many bass notes go too soon; probably for technical and phrasing reasons, although with effort they are playable as written.
@patattack587 I agree totally. The five bagatelles, written by Walton especially for Julian Bream, finds in this unsurpassed British genius of the guitar their best interpreter, with the right intonation, rhythm, dynamic range and... of course the indispensable tambora, which gives the piece its springy Caribbean vitality and joy. Vidovic's performance sounds like the final examination in a music school.

I think she is doing all that (or not doing all that) on purpose... personally I find that guitar slapping bit annoying... just another method to exhibit vanity while the guitarist performs as if guitarists need much more to be vain about.
I disagree. Willian Walton wrote the tambora on the score to be played. If Ana Vidovic don't want to play what the score says, she is coposing another music and it is not correct. Realy it isent the Bagatele number 3, alla cubana. I love Ana Vidovic, but can't agree with this modification.
my guess is you are a mediocre musician who thinks he/she is much better than reality revels and holds disdain for those who are truly talented and take away the attention you demand for yourself or you could be right(:
Well, as to what my talents are I don't want to judge... blues man I am...
No, I say guitarists are generally vain because I know me and the many musicians I have played with over the last 28 years.... in fact I should have said musicians, not guitarists, because musicians are really full of themselves whether they play guitar or whatever...
As to the slapping... she has enough talent to slap a guitar to pieces whilst playing, if she so chose.
As I previously stated, I've been playing music for 28+ years - I know its beauty, but that doesn't change what I said - musicians in general are really full of themselves. That doesn't mean that there aren't any that have some humility, but overall it has been my experience in dealing with myself and other musicians over the years.
Bocciato... "il maestro"! Una tecnica notevole (veramente interessante) ma poco gusto. Sembra che non provi gioia ed emozione nel suonare, colpa del maestro! Deve imparare a commuoversi e commuovere: la musica è suprema emozione.
tambora is a percussive noise played on the guitar. There are specific notes in music telling the player where and how to strike the guitar for different effects. Most other recordings of this piece have a decent example.
Ana Vidovic shows a lot of discipline and control in her playing. This is an important factor which a lot of guitarist that are making a living with there playing DOT NOT have. Hat's off to her. She is definitely in another league. Latin Jazz Guitarist from NJ.
If you want to hear a classical guitarist who has control, discipline, clarity AND expression and control of dynamics and articulation go to Cesar Amaros channel...perhaps Ana Vidovic will also achieve this maturity some day
It doesn't groove!Cuban music is mainly based on rythm! That's why sir Walton called it "alla cubana".He had an idea about it!Metronome doesn't make the rythm...the musician makes it on it!Cheers...
demasiado rapida, en mi opinion creo que para disfrutar los pasajes mas melodicos habria que hacerla mas lenta, de exo lo indica Walton en la partitura. lA CHICA TOCA MUY BIEN
With an unmatched phrasing ability and an understanding of the soul of music, Ana captivated the audience in a spellbound state like no other performance I have ever seen in Knoxville! Ana has the gift. She shares her love and understanding of the classical guitar like no other performer I have ever heard!"

I agree, she does not express that guitar as it should be expressed. Bream did perform this piece with excellence in his 1st recording. More intensity, use rest strokes!

Nice playing on a difficult piece...but that dress is ugly. Like to see her in a mini skirt! Not too crazy about that guitar either. When she gets older maybe she will play it as intensely as Bream did (his first recording, not his second).

@dannyboyrocker 80 bpm? This is closer to 130-135... It does seem like she's in a rush to get to the end
