Something that might help everyone who's scanning with a few more probes :

by holding down the ALT-key and moving one of the surrounding probes, you move them altogether. It's easier and faster that way when scanning with more probes.

Don't know if this has already been posted, but in the tutorial they are moving each probe manually.

@Lucas0pa Yes... I know that, but when she's changing the scanning distance she was adjusting every single probe around the center probe. BUT for that you can simply left-click them whilst holding ALT and you move ALL of the surrounding probes closer to the center probe.

And I said it twice already, it's the ALT key, not SHIFT.

Absolute Best training on probes I've seen yet Lol. I used 4 probes for this because I lack the requirements to use 5. But the 5th just seems to serve as a placement for the center point and when you move the probes you get the connection lines in green to do the same thing where they meet.

There is no fuckin way it is this simple. I did this same exact thing in low sec, and i couldn't ever get more than 30% before my target dropped off the grid, spent over 2 hours and 8 different scans to try and find one site, and i finally gave up.

@N3M3SISWARM I know it can be very frustrating, but you need to have "lots" of training in the correct fields. Not to mention the better Covert Ops Buzzard. If your training is high enough in the correct fields, it can be this simple. But its rare to make it this easy. Good luck and good hunting.

Oh, and after a few dozen scanned sites in 0.5 to 0.7, its really not worth the time if you can solo a fast L4 mission. I did get an officer spawn that dropped 20m in loot, but took me 45 minutes to swap bookmark to alt, fit a small ship for the warpgate, kill everything, fly 45km to loot...hasnt been "worth it" yet for me, as I can make more money doing less fun things. I love scanning, though...so I'll do it to prevent EVE burnout

No offence but you must be doing it wrong. I do it with 4 probes all the time, and I have done it with three.

They dont tell you you need 8 probes or you'll NEVER pinpoint anything

@jayynecobb Try using a covert ops ship because it has a bonus to probe effectiveness. If you still need 8 probes then you'll want to train you astrometric pinpointing and rangefinding skills to a higher level. Using a buzzard with grav rigs and all skills to 4 it takes me less than 3 minutes to find even the hardest site using 3 or 4 probes.

@ThePixelChaos You should have seen the scanning system before they overhauled it. There were 3 different types of probes for each type of signature and you couldn't move the probes around in the system map you actually had to warp between celestials to make BMs for probe spots. It would take hours to find a site. I scan sites now all the time with 3 probes but it's much easier with 5 if you have them.
