Compare the British conventional forces to the USMC if you wish to do so.

Britian can afford to give their infantry a longer training course because it is so much smaller. That being said, On a global standard with the GWOT the US are among the top in the world. The US army focuses on numbers i.e. quantity. The UK army focuses on quality, simply because we have little choice in the matter and quality>quantity, within limits ofc. Just looking at the standard training time for both prooves this.

Quit bitching. The Tongan Marines are part of the Commonwealth but not part of the British forces. They have the right to be in the Royal Marines if they moved over and traiend, but as Tongans they are not. They're not idiots, sir, they know that practicing into thin air will only build up a restraint reflex when actually fighting. They hit each other, grapple and throw, take each other down, put each other in full out arm/knee bars, rear naked chokes, garottes, etc. They do everything full contact regularly. They just don't incessantly beat each other senseless and stupid like Royal Marines.
