  • Logical positivism is a worse nonsense than all the nonsense it tries overturn. What's worse is it a very appealing nonsense that sucks the unwary to their intellectual demise. It is were thought goes to die.

I would put in more dramatic terms if I had the inclination.

  • @DarkwingScooter Couldn't have said it better!

  • this talk is good. it gave me a clear idea. Logical positivism is actually very meaningful and practical, But what happens to the other thoughts which cannot be explained? Just leave them off and let them be?. Actually philosophy is all about thinking, and logical positivism don't give a better chance to think and explore.

  • Their hero Albert Einstein? Albert Einstein and Max Planck alongside with Schroodinger, rejected logical positivism? (fail).

Logical positivism only works as a philosophy of science, because as a regular philosophical view of reality it fails and produces contradictions and no tautological foundation. Logical positivism was good, but we really need a better philosophy, it doesn't cut it, especially with all its contradictions.

  • @ogirv101 Well said!

  • @ogirv101 Albert Einstein worked on a verificationist theory (like positivism) and unified much of the known physics (which impressed the hell out of them). This is what he meant.

  • sounds like my kind of philosophy, Occam's Razor cuts deep :P
