  • My Great Great grandfather fought for the Austrian hungarian army and was an Officer and very Heroic he also fought in Verdun and he won a lot of bravery medals and other medals but he fought against canadians he has won against them

  • Shitty soundtrack...

  • all i am saying is that was not accurate the first gas attack canadains and other british forigen forces were on the line the rest fled, but the canadains held their ground and quickly came up with the "peing" on rags and covering their face with them idea. then we held off the german attack, it was one of our first astounding victorys as a country. not trying too be a blind patirotic person just saying this is what i had learned?

  • Actually the Germans used chlorine gas on the Eastrn front first. On a small scale against the Russians in Poland only a few weeks before it was used for the first time on a large scale at Ypres.

  • Not bad for a rushed job (don't need to Hollywood it). Corrections: The first country to use gas in WWI were the FRENCH (tear gas=legal) in 1914. Virtually no effect BUT noticed by the Germans. The Germans countered with Clorine gas from canisters (again legal. The Hague 1899-1907 Protocols banned poisonous shells only). The British were the first to use gas shells---so technically GB broke the Hague Conventions on Poisonous Gas!!! Its the Slippery Slope Argument of lawful becoming lawless!!!

  • @Armydicked Very well constructed thank you

  • @Armydicked Actually, Germans used tear gas before they used chlorine. As for the Brits, I'd like to ask you where did they first use gas shells? I've never found the information about this and you seem to know a lot about it. Thanks in advance.

  • It was an Australian that shot down the red baron sir, but yes America is number one. If not for it we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

  • kens burns dont have jacked up audio. You're doing major work though, fix the audio so people can enjoy your work.

  • Amercia is no. 1..we had the best air pilots. we shot down the Red Baron. it wasnt no Frog, no Brit, and especially no canadian.

  • @SumthinEazy1DosTres lol ""America is No'1""

You have a lot to learn.

  • wow nice job being retarded. The Canadians held the line at Ypres at did the urine defence. The French screamed and ran away in terror while we held the line

  • @CANADIANPEANUT1 haha sorry it just made more sense that the french would be the ones to piss themselves and put the cloth to their face to save them, but if you say the Canadians did more power to you :)

  • @CANADIANPEANUT1 look man everyone who fought in that war was a brave man, the french included. and of all forces in the war the french were the first to be gassed, it was something no one had seen before, it was more terrifying than going over the top. so the next time you are coughing up bloody chunks of your own lungs and drowning internally, then come back and say shit like that. im sure you would be running in terror as well. the canadians were very brave but so was everyone else.

  • @johnkclawson French had there time at Verdun for sure but we were being gassed at the same time and we never retreated, just saying. Also i'm going into the Canadian Military, Armoured so im sure crazy shit like this will happen to me at some point.

  • at first i wanna complain that you did not use the thrash metal clasiic " chemical warware from slayer ( haunting the chaple)

fuckin great pics though im ganna go finish wacthing this

  • @maskedmosher thanks bro, and yea I shoulda but I liked how the lyrics went with the theme of the vid. and slayer would be to far away from my slow commentary :p and wouldnt compliment it

  • Fail, fail and more fail.

  • I hope you failed, this is horrendous.

  • @matteoprez yea I know I did bad I was just trying to get it over with since I'm bad at commentary and had a crappy microphone and a stutter, but you don't have to be an asshole so I hope you fail at life because your a horrendous person.

  • @5NailsToTheNeck - lol... thumbs up to this man, thumbs up!

  • @5NailsToTheNeck, If you stopped filling your ears (and ours) with mindless non-music, you might learn to enunciate better and how to spell YOU'RE properly.

  • Comment removed

  • @matteoprez ? The war was started by one country betraying another, and the documentary is about poison gas the beginning lyrics go with it sir. And the ending lyrics are just about war

  • Dude you are word for word Wikipedia, dude please...

  • @TheSirhclee well you can read Wikipedia or try and understand my studdering commentary lol, and I have interesting pictures and stuff to make it a little more interesting which is the point

  • I was afraid to hit the like button, but all in all very informative and deadly, holy frig, glad it's illegal now, and you had some sort of echo was that on purpose or no?

  • @Neotericity I was recording it in a small hallway to get the echo, but then I ended up not liking it, thanks man I honestly hate watching this documentary myself because I could have done so much better with the commentary but its hard doing commentary I learned lol

  • @5NailsToTheNeck hey it only improves with time, but the echo didn't bother me I was just pointing it out that's all, cool idea for a technique though

  • @Neotericity

Don't worry; Burns will NEVER do a documentary on WW1--go ahead, ask me why.

  • @RPenta why?

  • @Neotericity

Very simple--because he would then have to face something he avoids studiously in his documentaries such as those on the Civil War and WW2--the evil, futility, and ubiquity of war and WHY it is so. In other words, he will have to be controversial which he tires not to be.

    To the Neocons and Theocons who love war, it is always 1939;

To the true patriots who hate war and lover liberty, it is more often 1914.

  • @Neotericity

Except to try to ignore them, how would Burns deal with poets like Wilfred Owen and Siegfried Sassoon?
