a true drift isn't done by pulling an E brake. U must first learn the limits of your car and then surpass them with a true drift done by sliding all 4 wheels through a turn.
The scandinavian flick is what should be used in engaging the drift at about 50mph or so....and considering ur car isnt an M car u cannot do a true drift because ur vehicle doesnt have an LSD
@sr20vett that's what I mean, my mother's car don't have LSD and nothin... I wanted to do it more sideways, but the car just don't allowed me, while sliding through the corner I felt how wheels were braking because of dinamic stab control... so that's why I had to pull handbrake, to force sliding.
@sr20vett Dude. You're wrong. 330i and 330cis as well as 335i and 335ci models all have LSD. Anything 328i and below does not have a limited slip. Learn your shit before you tell people what to do.
@illigalscoot wooowwww seriously?? bro trust me do your research and you will see that only M models in the E9X came with LSD....the rest 335 and below do not have LSD...Why do you think everybody who owns a 335 buys Quaife or Wavetrac LSD?? i have seen sooo many people who think they have LSd in their 335 but after a quick test they saw that they didnt. Look up YOUR SHIT on any bmw forum or enthusiast website then coem and tell me you know your shit.

i'm no drift expert but shouldnt you just apply more power in a corner and just wiggle the steering wheel rather than pulling the handbrake ? i mean with the rearwheel drive on the bmw you could acieve better and longer drifts only using the pendule effect :) what you are doing would be more effective on a front wheel drive car :)
I know, but I tell you, if I don't use handbrake there's no way to make the car slide (in such a small place with good asphalt). But you're right, I should find a better place and try that, maybe on wet asphalt :)
Let the car steer for you. Your trying to steer the car far too much, as a result your getting tied up with your hands and the car is unbalanced and jerky.
If you have a large open space you should try the following: Get some oversteer (pref without handbrake, too violent), just let go of the steering wheel and do not touch it. Watch what happens. The wheels will want to point towards the direction of the slide. Thus causing the steering wheel to turn much faster. Then you just add small correction
C'mon I've been driving and racing since I remember :)
Do you guys really think that you can drift a 150 hp bmw of 1500kg with stock diferential, 35% DSC and DTC still activated and brand new tires in such a small place with new asphalt... without pulling e-brake? There was not enough space to swing the car properly, and the speed was too low because of that same reason.
Anyway, many thanks to all of you for posting comments, and tips are still really apreciated :D
Well at least that's what mechanics on my bmw dealer explained to me. They say that sportive models like m3 and so on, turn off more % of electronic controls (although there's a 15% that still remains). And other models less sportive turn off less %.

Sorry but i can't agree. My friend has a E92 20D and when he presses down the TC button for a while it turns off every thing. Mercedes are the ones that don't turn off completly, i should now that beacause i own MB. I'm thinking of buying also a 320D M because it doesn't have some stupid thing that Mercs have.
but how can you be sure of that? when I turn off controls the car obiously slides more, but that doesn't mean that there's no electronic controls at all.

Well i do not know much about how the DSC acts on those conditions, but here in Portugal there isn't (a lot of) icy roads. When i was on his car, he could do round abouts (drifting) easy. Take in mind that his car is a E92 20D with 177 bhp, M pack etc, so there might be a slight differenc from your mother's bimmer.
Well it's easy, just watch the end of the video, DTC and DSC turned off and ABS it's still working (it's that noise at 1:21) that don't allow you to use food brake because if you lose control and your car is understeering, in many cases the worst think you can do is brake. So I'm sure that there's still electronic controls activated just for safery reasons.
Round abouts are funny :D but I don't like to do that in public roads. Mercedes Benz are good cars as well, you are lucky to own one! :)
I haven't check the issue out but i will. Mercedes are good cars, but they have stupid things that BMW's don't have. In all my mercs i can never turn off the ESP, it may say it's off but it's about the same as ON. I'm trying to see if i am granted a bimmer because i don't think MB is the car for me, at least right now
dude is your mom knowing what u are doing with her car? XD.... nice job :D I also tried some drift skillz with my dads Opel Vectra in my firt week of driving, but he caught me doing it and he didnt let me drive it afterwards :( no worries thow...i have my own car now(audi A3 1.8 turbo) and let me tell you that I have some fun once in a while ... :P
nice video and from my own drifting experience on my e39, stop pulling e-brake and use the clutch more . Also your steering is way too agressive fro drifting. :)
oh im sorry i thought that you were greek because of the "freno" thing.. good for you its a great language! :).So about the car i was saying that you have to prepare the car before the corner and inside it just try to maintain its momentum.when a car is drifting with its weight (helped by wheelspin) you can hold great angles.Try the handbrake, the clutch and (as said) let the wheel glide through your hands. the car is the most accurate especially when it has 50:50 weight distribution.good luck.
Many thanks. yes, one of the most important part is to use the weight and the inertia of the car. I have to improve that.
And the handbrake I think it's okay, if you listen carrefully, you can hear a alarm sound every time I pull the handbrake. Well at least that's what mechanics on my bmw dealer explained to me. They say that sportive models like m3 and so on, turn off more % of electronic controls (although there's a 15% that still remains). And other models less sportive turn off less %.
Nowadays I can affirm that because once I removed the electronic controls fuse and trust me... it's dangerous as hell. It's fine for me... but it's my mom car hehe

On a dyno run the DTC don't detect any risk so don't act.

Thanks :) well, I've been racing on karts since I was 13, I guess it helps. Howerer I don't dare to call myself a good driver, cause for example I don't know anything about parking or trafic signs lol. tnx for watching :)
