@LoadMySTG44 I truly hope it will be :} See everyone we cared about, and for me,..too meet the late Reno air race pilot Jimmy Leeward lost this past september 16nth
if there was a real nexus, i will take my beloved girlfriend there, so she can reunited with her mom and her childhood kitty, i know she will be happy there, if nexus doesn't permit me to enter, i can live w/ that because she will only know the joys of life but i may never see her again. i can live in hell knowing she is in heaven.
This is one of the most compelling and beautiful scores I`ve ever heard in a movie. The way it builds up from that dark and awe-inspiring beginning to the beautiful finale... I feel it really gets to the whole point of being alive. I think the Darkness only exists so one might better appretiate the Light that comes after it... and this song kinda reminds me of that...
@TheDEATHSTARIII maybe just bear with me here what if it wasn't reality and picard was still in the nexus. Thus making it a overblown fantasy i often wondered how they got out as well i need to see the movie again *grabs popcorn*
I agree w/ that it's a shame the rest of the movie didn't quite live up 2 the standard that those scenes did, I would love it if they had made generations better, included Spock & some of the other original members of the crew but kept this storyline & those scenes.
Someone once told me that time was a predator that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we've lived. one of the greatest quotes to live by.
@RFKFANTS67 No, the crew did die. The planet blew up from the shockwave because the sun was destroied by the solar probe. Same type that blew up the observitory where they found Scoran. Watch the movie, you can see the crew running away as the shockwave hits them.
This is my 2nd favorite score next to the intro theme. I love how the intro starts out softly with a bottle of wine spinning then builds to a bottle smashing climax.
@Ironyumi5 thanks for your comment, i close my eyes while listining to this and imagine seeing my mum one last time and telling her how much i miss her.
@1981kerr this song swells up so many emotions out of now where when i listen to it so i see what you mean. I just put on my mp3 so now i can listen to it anywhere.
I think that the scene where Picard is in the Nexus and meets his dead nephew and the family he has always wanted is the one that has touched more people than any other in the ENTIRE Star Trek Film Series.
I think we ALL want to find a Nexus where we can go and be happy and escape this upside down - Insane Aslyum of Society that we find ourselves in.
If YOU were in the Nexus - would you return to your duty in Star Fleet.....or stay forever in happiness and bliss?
I have this entire film sound track but its so badly scratched its barly playable....then again i have had it for nearly ten years, nice to hear it in its original glory.
I both love and hate this Star trek movie because as Star Trek, I like it a lot and has some interesting stuff in it. I also hate this one because of the nexus thing. Everytime I watch this one, I always wish on how if there was a nexus, I'd throw myself up in it just so I can see my late beloved girlfriend and never leave her. I try to avoid watching this one because I feel saddened by the idea.
I grew up watching star trek, I have to say this movie was the most nostalgic times of my life. I rerember I was 7 when this came out in 1994, and leaving the theatre..good movie!
These scenes with Picard in the Nexus with the family he never had and then with Kirk are in my mind some of the greatest in all Trek. Roddenberry always said he did not want it to be all about blinking lights and zap guns and here was a scenario that got to the heart of these characters. Great music too, I love the music very much.
Star Trek philosophy has a strong connection between humanity and its quest of gaining as much experiences and knowledge as possible. By doing so they are able to lift others and themselves to a higher plane by expanding their mind and horizons. Picard does just this because as a captain in StarFleet he is mapping the unknown possibilities of existence. Not having a family life is regrettable but unimportant if looked upon it in this way.
Great music! I really like this movie I know it was not considered one of the more beloved of the series but I thought the story and action was wonderful. The whole Nexus concept was original and unique.
Brilliant film sad beginning where With the tragic death of his brother, Robert, and his nephew, Rene, in 2371, Picard experienced regret at his decision not to have children.... i really love the episode where picard lives a whole life in 20 mins and learns to play flute.... definatly the best captain ever also i love startrek alot but the new film was shit tbh
Picard wasn't really trying to stop Soren's intentions. He was just trying to protect a planet. Remember? He offered to try and find Soren another way into the Nexus.
It is...This was a story about 1 man (Soran) trying to kill himself to go to heaven to be with his family aftera near death experience. And a story about two men(Kirk&Picard) choosing to give up staying in heaven to make a difference on earth again... Brilliant parable...
Anyone know where I can find Picard's Nexus scene? It used to be on youtube but it's been removed. I really like that scene and would like to watch it again.
I dunno, it's moving cause we all have moments where we wish life could be ideal like his moment.
The Classic/Next Gen friction aside, I enjoyed Generations for the most part. It's a particularly sad and touching movie that stresses what the Captains have lost or given up. The Nexus music is so hauntingly appropriate.
generations gets a lot of hate, but i really liked it as well. In terms of atmosphere, music composition, special effects & acting, it's really one of my favorites. it's the whole nexus experience at the end that throws the whole movie off balance.
The best and worst part about written word is that you cannot detect any vocal articulation. That means you don't know if I am being sarcastic, or if I'm going to monitor the heavens for any such energy ribbon and try to acquire some trilithium, huh? Amargosa, the Sun, whatever. Now, where can I find some trilithium? I do have to admit that such a nexus would be quite pleasurable. You may have to make personal sacrifices, but if I like you I'll recreate you. It will only be a faxsimile, but...
If only we all could have our own nexus, no more pain or suffering or love loss for anyone...almost as beautiful as the music...God Speed Admiral! Kirk
And if I could only figure out a way to destroy the Sun and Solar System in order to climb back on board that energy ribbon to find my own personal nexus! Of course I'd have to destroy everyone else because they suck ass, but as long as I'm in my own nirvana, the rest of you clowns are disintegrated, your matter is not permitted anywhere near my energy ribbon, and Kirk stays within the nexus himself, then I'm golden. Sweet idea, RFKFANTS67. You don't mind making a sacrifice for my nirvana?
increasing immersive technologies are tending towards he nexus: that this immersion is being driven increasingly onwards i think is a symtom of where people would prefer to live? hee hee, end of Freudian moment ;)
