First, I didn't say all, you still have Belarus, Cuba, DPRK who managed to survive the onslaught against all and evolve and still be totally socialist and progressive.
Second, how the crush them, its easy, they constantly supported wars, sabotages, spies, political bribing inside those countries. And ALL of the countries had anti-communist coups inside eventually (CCCP in 1950s, China 70s, Viet Nam after 3rd Indochina war...etc)

In USSR alone, they had military interventions of 21 world countries, and which destruction left CCCP in total devastated land, which was only fertile ground for famines and ruined life. They supported Nationalistic bands and rich peasants who ravaged the countryside fighting communists till middle 30s. And worse is, that they supported political dissidents like Khruscev, Trotsky...etc who later attributed immensely to their demise.

Stalin was so Communist he had his own form of Communism known today as Stalinist Communism, Lenin did not kill anyone except his opponents but started turning the Soviet Union into a more capitalist nation after he saw that Communism had failed, however he died in 1924 and couldnt actually impose these. Kim Ill Sung and Kim Ill Jung were North Korean and murdered many of their own people and continue today while the Mao killed Millions in his reforms and policies.
