Where can I get information about the following: accuracy of finger position, # of simultaneous tracked touch points, sensitivity, force of clicking, behavior upon raising your finger, accuracy of gesture recognition, dead zone, latency, update rate, and configurability of all of these. Also interested in programming it, is there an API? Also plan on running this on windows 7.
@donmarco you fucking retard course its not magic its the tracks name, you dont name a iphone because its iphone you name it because its... A ... iPhone you dick willow
The feet as he called it is the mechanical button. You can set the preferences for a touched-based click and right-click by using two fingers. The gestures make using Mac OS X Lion much easier to use. I never pull out a mouse with this in use. It is worth the slight price difference over the Magic Mouse (Micky or Minnie?). I'm patiently waiting for Microsoft to clone this like they did with their Touch Mouse.
Does anyone know if this TrackPad fits up nicely beside the Apple Wired Keyboard with Numeric Keypad? I'd prefer to get that keyboard, since I use a numeric keypad quite a lot.
I FINALLY bought an Apple Magic Trackpad this week after many months of not being sure about it, but it was after trying it out with Apple's Lion OS at my nearest Apple Retail store that it made me realise just how good it can really be with Lion! For starters I really like how you can set up the device for dragging without having to actually press down on the button and unlike the Magic Mouse you can access Lion's Mission Control feature from a 4 finger drag Upward. Thanks for the great review!
IMO your whole review is just biased because it costs $69 and you prefer mouses over trackpads. Trackpads are a pain in the butt I agree, specially because the whole pointing & clicking experience is just horrible. Gestures eliminates many steps like the 3 finger scrolling, pinch to zoom and page/application switching. This attempt is a nice approach; and when comparing to the Magic Mouse, you get much larger real state space for your gestures and better features. Nice first attempt I think.
This is way better than any mouse... it is a mouse replacement. (unless your playing hardcore games... which mac users obviously don't do) and it is definitely worth it, especially if you install BetterTouchTool! That will give you more than 45 different gestures. (unlike apple, who gives you like 10.)
It's obvious that 'TheMagicM94' does not have any idea how to use the Magic Trackpad. There ARE two-finger gestures ... there ARE massive amounts of programmability options . . . it is NOT just a mouse.
For those truly interested in this, make sure you search out other videos/posts on the Apple Magic devices.
....congratulations on purchasing an iPhone 4, but was there any real need to compare the Magic Trackpad with your phone? It's like comparing it with my wallet.
"Uggghhh the uuuggghhhhh Magic Trackpad is.....uuggghhh it's thinner than my wallet. It's also bigger."
@Dorr2K9EiRe see heres the thing, i dont have any videos:) you really are thick arent you? your pathetic, come back when you can put up half an argument without saying lol
@ToxicOdiousOne The magic trackpad is not meant to work with PCs but there is a way by installing some mac drivers with the Mac OS X Install disk, I'm not sure about the specifics but just try googling "Magic Trackpad on Windows" (or Linux depending on the OS that your using)
Getting used to the 3 finger swiping isn't that hard at all, it's exactly what it's like on the MacBook Pros. Not sure what other gestures you would want - all the gestures available easily make using the Mac much easier/quicker than a cheap mouse. I'v loving it so far - definitely worth the money.

Thumbs up, but OMG I think the entire review was based on you thinking it's over priced. You made this point several times, over and over.

It's worth it now with the OSX Lion updates to gestures like Mission Control and Launchpad.

It really irks me to hear reviewers complain about the price of the product in review - I am irked.
I'd like to know what this reviewer thinks the Magic Trackpad is worth.
The reviewer also complains about the lack of gestures. There are third party apps that make the Magic Trackpad infinitely more powerful than a mouse.

Does the trackpad work with the PC? Is using your hands as a mouse more complicated than using a wireless trackball?

It's not worth the money by itself. Get BetterTouchTool (free application) and it is more than worth it.
