This is seriously THE BEST SOUNDING HARD DISTORTION pedal I've ever had my hands on. I've had it for about 8-9 mos and I know I will never have to shop for a metal pedal again as long as the Fullbore has life in it. Works great with all my amps and the EQ possibilities are endless.

Totally underrated effect. In my quest to build the perfect pedalboard, the High-Gain is all set for me. Also recommend the MXR M108 Ten Band EQ.

I loved this pedal, it made my Valveking 212 and my Sovtek mig100 with a hybrid 412 cab sound real wicked. I got about a year out of it when it decided to first drop volume then it went to only putting out a very weak signal, ie static. Really wish it would have lasted, but at $100.00 it was a lesson learned.

ibanez rg7321 stock pickups thru b52 ls 100hs. thts how me and my mxr play dirty drop a. i love the bark in this thing. when i got it all dialed and started hearing the palm mutes coming out of it i was pupmed. with dinner involved tht was the most beef ive ever consumed in a day. the next day i ate some leftovers. but that time i put gravy on the slices so JUICY, this reminded me of how awesome the mid cut is. i dont like my beef with salt tho, halelujah for the noise gate! mxr ftw.

hey do you guys know if you can control how much the noise gate is on? I know it cuts sustain when you have a noise gate so do any of you guys know if it cuts down your sustain terribly or if the noise gate doesn't do so much on the sustain?

@ChanielDang very universal. eq feels pretty open to me. when i tweak it i leave the amp eqs clean @12:00, mxr vol @3:00, thts how i listen for wat the othr knobs need more or less of . the freq knob shapes the signal. i usualy get a sweet spot tuned in with it after i know the gain mid and high tht i want. afterwards u can turn on the midcut switch and find more or less growl with the amp nobs. the user manual is cake!! ur gonna b glad u bought this 12band metal eq..lol $100 m116 is no joke :)

@56goldlespaul Exactly my point. Some guitar players want a hi-gain distortion pedal that can play 80's thrash metal. The MXR Fullbore Metal does not disappoint in that kind of genre. If you're a rock player, consider looking into overdrives like the Maxon OD-9, Fulltone Fulldrive 2 Mofset, or Fulltone OCD.

I've got this pedal, it totally sucks. Very trebly, even with the treble and mid knobs turned all the way down. Lots and lots of gain, but it doesn't sound good (because it sucks). Played through a Vox AC15 (sucked) and then a couple Marshall 1960 cabs with a Mesa 50/50 power amp (still sucked).

@PeaveyESP get it, its horny as hell! if u want a perfect metallica 'death magnetic' tone 4 a paf humbucker guitar, try these settings: eq: low =10:00-10:30, mid=12:00, high=turned up to full, frequency=between 9:00 to full, gain: full and scoop switch on-i used it on my cover of that was just your life on my youtube channel, the whole tone came from the fuckin pedal cos the preamp in my marshall decided 2 die :P

I don't know why but when I get past 12 o'clock on the volume knob, the overall volume do not seem to get very loud. I mean, my fullbore is at full volume and compared to the metal zone at 12 o'clock it's almost the same volume. What could be wrong? I'm using it in a signal chain and it's daisy chained. I thought that was the problem but I tried with batteries and the same thing occured.

This really is a good pedal.  I do like a somewhat scooped tone though, and I use this pedal without the scoop button activated. It's quite versatile and I must admit that I didn't like any of the tones represented in this video. I find that I can get a really mean tone from it playing through a tube amp with EL34s in it. Get your tone dialed in good from the pedal and then do some EQing from there. Don't cut out your mids on the pedal, and focus on the FREQ nob.
