I had a chance to visit WIPP in 1996. Went down to the bottom and was given the grand tour. Better than Janet Reno ever got. I got to see the very beginning test room. The rooms are double doored; once one closes on signal, the other will open on signal and close on signal. I was able to ride and experience the way into the new sections.
They were just starting the horizontal bore drilling in the rooms while I was there.
They let me have chucks from 2150 ft down and 1/2 mile in.
my dad drives the truck that pulls the trupact tanks... they are so strict with that stuff... if a cop is pulling them over, they cannot pull over until it is confirmed that he/she is an actual cop... any bad weather condition and the truck is stopped and cannot continue until the weather lets up
Hello David. On the scene where you had sodium vapor lighting and you used a grey card for correction. Could you explain the steps in photoshop and what is the best brand of gray card to purchase. Do you use this color sampling tehnique for all types of indoor and outdoor situations. Thanks a lot I love your videos
Can you please explain how you make the color corrections to additional image files after sampling only 1 image. Do you make note of particular changes, and apply them to additional shots somehow?
Hello David. On the scene where you had sodium vapor lighting and you used a grey card for correction. What would you do if your shooting film. Would you use colored filters, ND filter, polarizer. Some people still don't want to make that step to digital yet. your advise for this room, shooting film. Thank you.
The filter used would depend on the type of film you where using. Tungsten would be different than daylight film.
Let just say that you where using Tungsten film, as it is closer to in color temp. to the warm sodium lighting. With tungsten film I would use, 50 magenta + 20 Cyan over the lens. This would also require me to open my lens an additional 1 stop due to the loss of light because of the filters.
Thanks David. One more thing. I'm taking a class in the 4x5 format. In our class, now mind you this is the 2nd year i've taken this class. I never can get enough. I always learn something new. I ask professional photographers to come to our class and give a lecture on something they know about lighting or the format we are studying. Would you be interested in coming to scottsdale, AZ. to give a lecture on your experience on lighting. How much would you charge to do so.
Providing I have the time, I would only charge my expenses and a small fee of $125.00. Air, Hotel and meals. Please let me know if I can be of assistants. DT
Just want to say thank you for posting this video. This is better then watching the Discovery channel. The look of blue gels inside the cave looks very good... how do you determine which gel to use, I probably would have use red....

I need to know if I'm going to be ok...I ate some of the salt. I know it sounds weird but I was curious as to how it would taste.

Hi David
First of all, thanks for all the great tips!
Your generosity is appreciated by many I'm sure!
Can you please explain how you make the color corrections to additional image files after sampling only 1 image. Do you make note of particular changes, and apply them to additional shots somehow?
Thanks a lot!
