Never saw them in concert but I remember this song from The Captain and Me and have always thought this as one of the finest rock songs I ever heard. The studio version, and this from a Free Bird forever Skynyrd fan.

I certainly don't need The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to tell me that the Doobies are one of the tightest bands ever. I don't need them to tell me their harmonies are the epitome of on-key. I don't need them to tell me their lists of hits (and non-hits) are written with more professionalism than any band around. I don't need them to tell me that have dual drummers with a percussionist is not only one-of-a-kind, but creates an incredible rhythm section. Who is the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame again?

It is astounding on how deep the talent runs in each every musician in this band. I'm from Canada and whole heartedly admit in my humble opinion, that we don't have a super group that has this much depth. Their timing, stage presence and professionalism is beyond description. These guys are certainly one of the most talented, prolific and enduring bands in history. They are better today than they were 30 years ago. Their vocal harmonies, song writing and musicianship are second to none. They should have been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame years ago, but their time will come. No group of guys has brought more joy into the world via music than this bunch. I am thankful for them, very thankful.

Have seen the Doobies twice here in Australia. They always play as though it's their first and last gig, so incredible. They just love playing. With such great songs it makes it easier to be so passionate. Totally lost my mind at the last gig I went to and received a couple of picks and a drum stick for my outrageous behavior , thanks guys. You just can't watch them without smiling and feeling great.

Man that is one kick ass vid, Tom Johnston ROCKS, a real American rock hero, right up there with Tom Fogerty and The Boss. Patrick Simmons looks as if he is the happiest guy on the planet right then. I believe it's John McFee who joined the band in the early 80's and was really known for his versatility (he played violin as well as guitar).

The lead he played on this was very close to the one played on the original studio recording. Very respectable rendition, huh?
