I lost a few Grin albums through the years....like the one where he's hanging upside down in a tree! I loved that album.....the cover was great too. Now I know where I can maybe get a copy. I was a super-fan of Grin in the 70's.
If you want to buy copys of the old Grin stuff on CD or even old school Vinyl Bob Berberich the singer/drummer for Grin runs a record store in Baltimore MD called Trax on Wax. He will even sign copys if asked..a super nice guy and a real lost legend of rock n roll

@travelawyer, I was there, too. And it certainly seems ages ago. I do remember it was goddamn LOUD!! Electric Nils always carves in your eardrums! Katrina & the Waves were the openers, right?
THANKS FOR PUTTING THIS OUT TO THE WORLD. GREAT PROFESSIONAL GUITARIST/VOCALIST THE BAND ARE GREAT TOO. NILS FOR KING. HE WRITES SOME BRILLIANT SONGS.
Has never been among my favourite songs of his, but o.m.g. what a wonderful intro and what a beautiful solo. Nils is one of those very very very rare guitarists whose playing can make you weep with joy!!
altdalt--I have also known Nils since his days in Montgomery County, Maryland and I was astounded by his talent when he was just 17! But more importantly, he was then and is now a decent human being--despite his god-like abilities on guitar, friendly and easy to talk to. A true guitar hero in many ways.
Been listening to Nils since the days of Grin while attending Walter Johnson High in Bethesda, Md and he never fails to impress. Was thrilled when he joined the E Street band. One of the truly great guitarists of our generation.
He is such a great performer live. When you see him it is like watching a ballet in motion. I took 10 people from my office who had never heard of him. They were all from different countries and music likes. Each of them sat in awe entranced by his stage presence and musical magic.

YOUR all crazy! Nils is the best guitarist to come along since JIMI--Just enjoy him! Pick up Cry Tough and his live acoustic CD's-you'll love him even more!
Dukabor thanks for responding,Your wright I was a 17 year old 2 stroke rd350 riding drinking gun powder and spitting nails kid,I listened to Zepp, kiss ,Floyd etc....you know the drill.I did not understand Nils music then He Is very gifited.
The first time I heard Nils was back In 1976 I bought his album the cover was awesome but when I heard his songs they were crappy.I was turned off to his music. That said Its now 33 years later that same friend I was with when I first bought his album gave me an old cassette he bought cheap my friend decide to give it to me as a gag gift, and oh my god nils Is a great soulful player
that was probably "night after night"...a great album...first song was "take you to the movies"...the songs weren't crappy...at the time you probably were listening to a lot of other great music...me...and my band...loved Nils...
btw...some nights we used to open with "take you to the movies"....we didn't care if anyone knew what it was...hell if we felt like it we went into "Keith don't Go" right after if we felt like it....we weren't really popular during the disco era..heh
absolutely agree...and to Adamboy8 too..no one can imitate him...he finger picks lead guitar...jesus just do a youtube search on "Keith don't Go"...where he gives a guitar lesson...try to keep up...lol....
this is a grate song i really liked it and it was amazing when they played this on rescue 77 a kool show that's no longer on the air but to all who know the show reamer the sane with this song in it??? i know i do i cried when i saw it it's so moving.
From high school on, the Maryland border (suburbs of Washington DC), studied piano, guitar, accordian, etc, played in Neil Young's Crazy Horse band, and has been a member of Springsteen's E St. Band since around 1983 -- see my Springsteen playlist for some amazing version of Because the Night where Bruce has Nils play lead- in 1985 it is, really quality. He also would do back flips with guitar in hand on stage. Still tours solo. Look in the Wikipedia for Nils Lofgren.
That is true 4rainbowed. I went to UM and he played at a club I worked at in CPark. He used to be a gymnast. He went to Walter Johnson High in Bethesda. This song still gives me chills!!
Formally he wasn't in crazy Horse. He palyed with Neil a lot, but not w/Crazy Horse. One of the many other musicians Neil has picked up here and there.
Really? Where? Did Nils play with a different band-- Like, did his band open for Bruce Springsteen and then Springsteen's band played (with Nils in it)? Where and when, was this?
Nils rules!! I saw him with Springsteen in Helsinki and he was awesome.
He is propably one of the best guitarists of all time and I like his woice. His woice is unique. It's weird, but beautiful. His whole style is werry recognizable.
He is gotvater on the guitar. I experienced nils on his sacred weapon 2006 tour in Cologne . It was a phantastic concert. Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young also regarding his abilities. Nils please come as soon as possible back to Cologne!!!
this guy is one of the best guitarists in the world andi saw him in 1990 during the time he was with the esb for the last time and he got better even though its only been a year since
I dont know what is sweeter, the song or the lovely comments coming from his fans. It warms my heart to read them and the comments bring tears to my eyes
nils is one of the greatest rock musicians of all time...valentine is a great song.......but his whole album "Cry Tough" is a complete masterpiece....i wish i could find a video from that album...
liked this song from day one ! so happy to find it i could scream from the balcony. i now dont have to hear it from a worn out cassette tape ! thanks alot
Nils i have seen jou in sittard netherlands back in the early 80 thies, and later on in brummen also the netherlans. Men you can stand on youre on as performer, lucky Bruce, keep friends and great music will follow
This is a beautiful song and it makes me happy to know Euros appreciate him as well. He was big in Maryland when I was in college in late 70s, early 80s and some of his songs bring back such fond memories of a day gone by.
Nils, a wonderful guitarist !!!!!!!!

that was probably "night after night"...a great album...first song was "take you to the movies"...the songs weren't crappy...at the time you probably were listening to a lot of other great music...me...and my band...loved Nils...
Dukabor 2 years ago
btw...some nights we used to open with "take you to the movies"....we didn't care if anyone knew what it was...hell if we felt like it we went into "Keith don't Go" right after if we felt like it....we weren't really popular during the disco era..heh

PeteysFourthMoon 2 years ago
Formally he wasn't in crazy Horse. He palyed with Neil a lot, but not w/Crazy Horse. One of the many other musicians Neil has picked up here and there.

Really? Where? Did Nils play with a different band-- Like, did his band open for Bruce Springsteen and then Springsteen's band played (with Nils in it)? Where and when, was this?

This is a beautiful song and it makes me happy to know Euros appreciate him as well. He was big in Maryland when I was in college in late 70s, early 80s and some of his songs bring back such fond memories of a day gone by.
