  • hyper cube? Am I right mathematicians?

  • i watched this video because of the animation. now, i like the song.

  • @catsick94 Sounds like you went to a lot of sports events...

  • I remember this sound, when I was a child..about 5 or 6, I heard voices In my head and they'd all talk over each other so I couldn't understand a word they were saying and I wished they would shutup. I don't hear voices anymore, but It's really freaking me out how well this song recalls the memory of It.

  • My h'art

  • That's a 2d representation of a 3d representation of a 4d hypercube. Or its just a 2d object. Totally your choice depending on how you interpret it.

  • this song is incredible

  • I think by conventional knowledge jeffreyweg is correct, but I still have trouble understanding how something as subjective as the experience of time can be experienced of photons traveling through space at light speed. It seems the eight minutes (pr whatever the time/distance) is still relevant.

  • This is the very first BOC song I heard yearssss back that made me love them. I remember putting in the album for the first time and listening track by track and when this came on I've been hooked ever since!

  • The trees and the sky speaking in 1/16th notes...

  • Order a rape kit, my mind has just been fucked.

  • Okay will the 4th dimension is suppose to be the dimension of time correct?

If you were aware of the 4th dimension would you be able to view the totality of a (Unit/character/item) Through its total existence in a chaotic world measured in time. Of course I'm supposing to be aware of the 4 dimension there would be a sense of timelessness since you can observe time from a different perspective, like that of light? I heard that light reaches its target the moment it departs from its location. ???

  • @Mhm5213 Theoretically. That idea is based off mathematical models they use to make predictions, given we are only human nobody can really verify something like that. Light travels at 3x10^8 ms or some such, so no it does not reach it's target the moment it departs from it's location. For example, it takes light roughly 8 minuets to reach earth from the sun.

  • @ididntwantomakeaname

You weren't responding to me, but about light: Since light is moving at the speed of light then, due to our theory of relativity, it is not moving through time. So for us, it arrives at earth from the sun 8 minutes after it has left, but for light, which does not move through time, it gets here instantly. In fact, each little wave, or particle, whichever you prefer, is everywhere it will ever be, all at once. An eternity inside an instant.

  • @jeffreyweg Nothing moves through time, time is dictated by the motion of all things. That's why they call it Spacetime. And no, each little particle is not everywhere it will ever be all at once, if it were then we'd see everything in the entire universe all at once and we don't. You should re-read the description of light speed and Spacetime on Wikipedia. Or in a real book even. Also they theorize that traveling a the speed of light "bends" the future infront of you granting "foresight" /shrug

  • What you're saying is that because light is the fastest it automatically reaches its destination instantly in a vacuum, when in reality is' just the physical universes' limit of speed [as we know it]. So in astophysics we measure things in light years because it TAKES LIGHT A YEAR to move that distance, and given the size of the universe using the fastest shit is a good means of large measurement. now "to the light" did it take a year? yes, yes it did, it just looked funky getting there.

  • So are we the 3d shadows of higher dimensional entities? I'm going to the hologram factory to try and find out.

  • $0.20!

  • i mean the cube.

  • fake.

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • Listen to this...

    jesus spell it backward

    means susej

    means sausage(hotdog)right?

spell hot dog backwards =god toh

now place it right means Hot-God = the sun because it big and hot

because its so big its probably ur moms Ass

    ....................................

  • @xPshahaf That's logic right there.

  • @xPshahaf Wow, you have a big imagination. Really smart.

  • @mrcharlyasap

    HaHa

me and my friend always makes intresting thing from words

    we call it

"Listen to this" ,thank u =D

  • The kick drum beginning at 4:10 feels like it's kicking you to a higher state of awareness

  • this song makes me think of the future, 2039 where all cars are electric and people's clothing will look more space like.

  • I imagine in this song, my mind getting "telephased" in multidimensional workshop by strange weird entities

  • man, coopl

  • Listening to this song makes me picture myself sitting on a terminal in an airport. Everything is in fast motion. People zip by like bullets, while I remain static. I can see the sun outside slowly receding as a host of stars flash in one by one. The airport slowly drains, and I sit while the lights abruptly shut off and I'm in darkness. Damn I'm high.

  • @Tamcon05 damn that's awesome!

  • Carl Sagan is bopping in space-heaven to this music.

  • @SpandexPandas Carl Sagan was an atheist. So no, I doubt it.

  • Comment removed

  • if you just tell yourself either it is a square or a circle, the illusion is lost.

  • 6:36 of mindfuck.

  • it just looks like a tube connected to its interior and exterior, rolling itself. If a 4d object can cast a 3d shadow... I wonder how much things exist that are actually 4d objects, but we just can't see it.

  • @LicoriceWarrior your mother for starters

  • @foilseal Trolling troller trolls ? LUL

  • I think you need to antagonize some NMDA receptors to view this thing properly.

  • if you think you have the tesseract figured out, try the 4th dimensional analogue of a triangle instead. three sides = no hinges = inconceivable

the vox samples need not be chopped. the effect is achieved by setting an LFO to change the starting point of a vox loop so that every note starts and stops the loop at a different point. if you have the sample loaded in Reason, you can do it in less than 10 sec. the REAL challenge would be to reconstruct the original loop from all the spliced pieces

  • @bowjonghan could you give me a more exact description of your approach, maybe in a screen cast or by mail?

  • Escher on acid

  • 4D cube mixes with the loop and tab

  • I'll tell you all what happened to the comments of youtube...4chan. Grab your warhammers, we must fight to slay the beast!

  • amazing technique for meditation concentrate on the 4d object , also its GENIUS! <3 BoC

  • its 4d? haha

  • It's a not a tesseract, it's a series of tubes!

  • Probably my favorite on the album. Then again, it's so darn difficult to choose.

  • This song.. I listened to this song on LSD sometime last year. My legs had a really thin filmy layer of orange hexagons (ironic, huh?) on them moving diagonally in a group, and I could hear every single sound in the song. I got an image of every cell, every atom, every piece of me, working/doing mitosis/dying/vibrating - doing what they do, simply to keep me alive. Isn't it amazing how much music can affect things?

  • @mollisk ins't it amazing how much drugs can affect things?

  • @hotbassfishin Naw I meant like.. isn't it amazing how much music can affect your trip.

  • @mollisk mostly the LSD though XD. but I personally think LSD is just a way to get chemicals going in the brain that can access the extradimensional realms. Being that, it's also kinda not a good habit...but whatever.

  • @Rami2145 Dude for reallllzzz.

  • I've seen an unknown colour, naturally I can't prove this

  • This is what it sounds like if you open and close the flaps in your ears really quickly in a busy place.

  • OHHH MY GOD!!!! YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS TRACK IS MAKING ME VIBE WHILE DRAWING

    sorry for the capitals

  • 4D is a mindfuck. Tesseracts ftw

  • Tesseract. :)

  • Kung Fu Junkie - Go Boyz

  • seven

  • This is a hypercube. It's a 4th dimensional object which casts a cube as it's shadow, much like how a cube casts a square shadow. Chuck Norris is made of billions of hypercubes.

  • @burchified Huh? I thought it was impossible to show 4th dimensional objects, and this is merely the shadow of one in 3d.

  • @ajax123123 Yes, this is a 3d shadow of a hypercube.

  • @burchified and you're an idiot

  • @burchified Actually, Chuck Norris' shadow is a hypercube, but only because he allows it

  • @burchified Chuck Norris needs someone like you to carry his torch, he's certainly not worth mentiong on his own behalf. How much of his bodily fluids do you get for mentioning his name in comments?

  • @gnikcuf888 I get all his self-produced, straight-to-DVD movies before anyone else. Lighten up.

  • @burchified that explains why anyone or everyones punches either go thru him or miss entirely. His badass is the matrix! CHUCK! WOOT!

  • @burchified correct term is tesseract.

  • @mQtek Tesseracts are hypercubes just like how a square is a rectangle, hypocritical grammar nazi.

  • @burchified What has the definition of what is displayed in the video anything to do with grammar dumb fuck?

  • @mQtek You tell me, since you felt it pertinent to "correct" my terminology without using a complete sentence or even capitalizing. That makes you a hypocrite. Now that you have to resort to ad hominem it's safe to say you lost the argument you so thoughtlessly decided to start.

  • @burchified I said it was called a Tesseract, if you somehow think that it linked to grammar gtfo. ^^

  • @mQtek If you haven't gotten the point on your own by now, spelling it out any simpler won't make a difference. Have a good day and enjoy BOC.

  • That video is a hypercube - a 4D shape.

  • What is wrong with me if I like BOC and Britney Spears at the same time?

  • @prodigyxl nothing wrong at all i feel the same way but without the britney spears part for me its Slip/BoC/Diplomats oh well different strokes for different strokes lol

  • i don't need to get high to get mind fucked by that "picture"

  • jesus got lost somewhere in that cube

  • @9112001ification you need to die soon

  • @9112001ification Is that why we haven't seen him in thousands of years?

  • This was the first ever BOC song i heard back in 2002 - loved them ever since

  • dont forget Black Moth Super Rainbow

  • haha so many stuck up retards trying to understand boards of canada...this music wasnt made for people who critisize songs on youtube thats for sure

  • soooo sik.

  • @RpianoV

    Obviously you're an idiot.

  • @RpianoV What's with all this hate? It's just a continuous cycle of anger between total fanatics and skeptics. Everyone just keep to themselves, smoke some, and listen to the damn song.

  • @RpianoV 2deep4u bro

  • @RpianoV

You're fucking douche. I am not a hipster at all and i love absolutly love BoC. I also enjoy a ton of other music as well.

  • @RpianoV Only those trolled by this are butthurt.

  • @RpianoV you suck moldy dick. go listen to your lady gaga assmunch

  • Just discovered Boc. Wow. And I thought Kraftwerk were the last word in electronica. So proud of the scots for unleashing this absolute beast of a tune into the world.

  • all i hear is loop, after loop, oo there's another one

  • Rubbish song, just a little idea more than a song, but the graphics were interesting

  • mindfucked.

  • All dimensions exist as on in the factory

  • @HayZing "Quadrahedron" means "4 planar sides", like tetrahedron, a 3D shape. I don't think quadrahedron is an actual word.

  • If you like Boards of Canada, Eluvium, Helios, Goldmund, Hammock, Rachel's, The Album Leaf, and other similar artists, you may like my stuff. I'd love some support! :)

  • @MrScubasuit I have a penis

  • i always create my own reality while listening to BoC ... : ) namaste

  • 4 dimentional square. Yum.

  • it's a 4-d object by the crietria that a 2-d object (e.g. a flat square) has 1-d sides, a 3-d object (e.g. a cube) has 2-d sides etc.

all of the sides of this shape are 3-d.

  • this video motherfucking sucks

  • actually you are witnessing 3 dimensions. your screen is 2-D, attempting to represent 3d in what's called a projection of 3d onto 2d. time brings it a step up to , somewhat, be in observation of 3d. Unfortunately it's a very limited 3rd dimension, since you can't see all of the 3rd dimension, but rather a single point of it. In fact, one might say it's a contracted 3rd dimension. You are definitely not "spot on", cocky kid.

  • brain lubrication. nice.

  • @HayZing spot on ! i too have a cigar

  • wait, the pineal releases dmt naturally during sleep? i know it's released in large amounts at birth and at death.

  • @HayZing The 11th dimension being...? What the 10th over time? That is non-existent.

And you don't add dimensions like that (4+2 or 3=5?). You are viewing something in a dimension, in this case the second. If you are viewing a 4 dimensional object on a 2 dimensional Cartesian plane than you are view a 2 dimensional object. Besides, the 5th dimension is the ability of the object to change on a linear scale over time if we were viewing it in the 5th dimension, we wouldn't be able to witness it.

  • So a quick note, this is a 4-d cube being viewed at a bit of a diagonal view however, the tesseract (the real name for the shape... sorry not cube) isn't moving any different than a cube spinning on an angle. If this were a picture were a cube instead of a tesseract, it would just look like the cube was spinning at a bit of an angle but for the most part stays linear.

  • @HayZing Haha close! This is the 4th. It is essentially the path of a 3rd dimensional object (if the path was linear) over time which is then made into one shape. If you want make is sound cool than, I would go with describing its net which is a bunch of 3d cubes! :O

  • Nice.

  • NEVER MIND THE LENGTH LOOK AT THE GIRTH!!

  • MORE BACON the pigs all squeal !!!

  • this object is to hard for my eyes it looks so logic but it isnt...it cant be.its to unnatural.

  • @KNIEBEL0815 thats cause its four dimentional MAN, you can only make that shit with stuff thats not real

or else thered be impossible shapes in real life and not on the computer

  • It sounds like a stutter from an American general bent on promoting rave

  • Tesseract

  • its not bacon its begg'n strips

  • Big square, trapezium, little square, trapezium...

  • @HayZing

Funny; length, width and time are the recipe for genuinely good sex.

  • they are the best

  • Smales' paradox?

  • That cube made my eyes melt •_• I thought he was saying breakbeats lol.

  • Oh no! 4D cube @_@

  • @Necromanticman It's just a shadow of one. :D

  • I hear blade runner samples all over the track, perhaps just imagine...

  • if you play it backwards it sounds like everton are shit!!!

  • hypercube

  • bacon? all I hear is raking

  • BORDERING CANADA

  • everyone who hears this music without blocking it will gain experience....word^^

  • can I call myself a hipster if I like this??

  • @shoesmusic not a hipster but a hepcat

  • @weatherkop nah, scratch that now we are called robot dylans

  • @weatherkop mmmmmmm.....HIPSTER. lawl

  • @shoesmusic guilty as charged

  • Comment removed

  • @weatherkop To me, being a hipster means you're fake. From my personal experience at a college overrun by them.

  • Comment removed

  • @Kris10MichelleRoss I deleted my post, it had typographic errors. Anyway, labels can have as many definitions as there are people. When you start to collect profiles into clustered groups, that is a precursor for prejudice and we all know where that leads. Treat each person as their own entity, because after all we only have ourselves to absolutely sure we are completely grasping reality correctly.

  • LOL, You guys don't like thinking that they're saying bacon ? What's the problem with you guys and bacon anyway ?

  • fourth dimension

  • It's supposedly a 'hypercube' i think...

  • @LilSmithy3 Its actually called a tesseract, which is how you would raw out the 4th dimension

  • @Findmealife tesseract = hypercube synonyms, DO YOU USE THEM?

  • @XQbit lol chill I know what you meant

  • BACON!

  • BROADS_OF_CANADA.

  • damn, now i hear bacon, dammit. thanks a lot.

  • Watching that tesseract in slow motion, I totally realize what the movie Cube is all about. Dang.

  • To me its always sounded like jeff goldblum saying "its a very very superior experience" and he would be right on the money with this song! ;)

  • Great track. Interesting GIF of the fourth dimension, also.

  • donde vive la gente que hizo esta canción? hay que ir a buscarlos...

  • This song is so complex. The significance is in the details. Listen to the song with headphones or good speakers for max effect. Listen to every sound, only sound..There is so much to this song. Just let your mind roam..you don't even know...

My interpretation of samples: "you don't,don't even know, know" "this is big, big, big, big," "quantity, smokes quantity" "very, very serious" "don't, don't don't let that happen" "20 cent" "boarder of canada"

  • @SteelRocker isnt it just meant to sound like vowels and consonants? i think dissecting it takes away from the magic.im hearing very serious tho.

  • @keggg1234 I agree about just listening to the music. When I was young I'd listen to songs and realize most the time I'd have know idea what the lyrics were, but I'd know how they sound. People would say, hey don't you like this song cause its about this or that. Thats what gives meaning to most people. I could care less about words. To me sound has more meaning. Its universal. Words are just man made and often misinterpreted. Anyway, the sounds in this song (seconf half) are definitely voice

  • @SteelRocker I have never cared and continue not to care about the lyrics of a song. I think lyrics in a song can limit the power of music. You can create your own lyrics with music like this. Your own reality. I think that the people who tend to only enjoy the lyrics in a song don't enjoy thinking for themselves, letting other people tell them what to think. I think that most fans of bands like BOC can relate to what I'm saying.

  • @levidapyro what about poetry and written word? ideas are generally shared not to be inhibited but speculated. lyrics are just a musical format of expression and dont necessarily convey a message.im sure youll find some music with some abstract lyrics that you will like somewhere :)

  • @keggg1234 i love poetry. however, in my opinion, music can be more powerful than words. i don't know how many times I've listened to a song with no lyrics or lyrics someone disliked but had a great melody and someone disliked the song or the band because of the lyrics or lack there of. that's what I mean by lyrics limiting the power of music. there's a big difference between the people that love bands like boc and the people that hate it. the people that hate it seem to be more close-minded.

  • @levidapyro there is no significant division between these two types of people is what i mean. BoC have quite a unique style that isnt for everybody even if you listen to lyricless music. ive been moved equally by lyricless and lyrical music.music without lyrics is just subjectively self referential and therefore is easier to tie a memory or emotion to it. dont divide or assume, just explore and enjoy lol :)

  • @levidapyro Exactly, IMHO, the sounds, pitches, tempo, volumes, etc are really what creates emotional responses to music. There`s a reason why each genre of music brings out a general emotional resonse in people and then creates these sub-cultures - they generally behave a certain way depending on the group they fit into: (Goths, Thugs, Hippies, Tecnno people, Country hillbillies, Grunge, Punks, etc).

  • @levidapyro Each seem to behave generally the same way. It has nothing to do with lyrics, rather the type of sound energy itself.

  • @levidapyro I agree with you about the lyrics thing , what david bryne said makes sense , lyrics were invented to make music more interesting, or commercially viable. I can hardly even be bothered to remember the names of the tracks, but when its Aphex or BOC it hardly matters. Bbydhyonchord anyone ?
