If Taylor was so essential to the Stones than why hasn't he produced any hits on his own? The Stones have hits before, during, and after the Taylor years.
frownstrong you might be suprised to know that taylor played on both some girls and let it bleed. clearly the best work the stones did was from beggars to exile and taylor played an important roll. after some girls it was all garbage both in the studio and live
@mcgurkryans And that was a great thing! No wonder John Mayall thought so highly of him and suggested him to the Rolling Stones. But as they pointed out, when he left them, he wasn't interested in being a showman; but ALSO, he was such a creative force and technical guitarist especially on stage. All the highest regarded Stones albums either featured Jones or Taylor on guitar, although Ron Wood isn't a hack by any means. Wish MT would come perform more in the States.

stop complaining about that ronny wood didnt chang their sound, he did he plays all the guitar solo and he its a way better then keith richards that only play rhythm and chords all the time. mick taylor he was better in teqnique but the truely rolling stones sound its acient art of weaving a in guitars and when ronnie wood started this was more used
Yeah I don't get the whole pick your element of the Stones you like and dis the others. Taylor made the Stones unmatched across all elements specifically musically. That does not take anything away from the other elements that make the Stones the great band they are. I rate musicianship high on what makes a band great, others rate it lower below other elements like attitude, style or camaraderie. The Taylor era was the peak musical period for the band and the music does it for me.
Though I get tired of hearing people say Taylor was the Stones best period, as if the Stones charm was all about guitar solos, Taylor's virtuosity should always be recognized ("Leather Jacket" did suck, though).
Why do you resent the Mick Taylor worship Steve? For many fans, it was the Mick Taylor era which represented the "golden age" of the Stones with Exile as the Zenith of that period.
I admire his guitar work, but if you just wanted skillful, endless guitar solos, the Stones would've just been lumped in with robotic blues wannabes like Cream or Zeppelin. The Stones are primarily
about the style and shades of Jagger's voice, Keith's concise riffs and their great lyrics, and that tight Watts rhythm. When those elements were at their best, the Stones were the best, with or without Taylor
That's an interesting perspective because I have always considered Mick Taylor work as integral to the Stones' unique two-guitar sound in which the rhythm section, Charlie, Bill and Keef set the vibe and the lead kind of dances around it and through it like a helix. I just don't think that Ronnie has the chops for that kind of playing but thanks for your response.
If you could synch this a/v too that'd be great, mate. Thanks for posting

Keyboard controllers and synthesizers don't sound good. It doesn't mater if they use the best samples.

Say what you will, but the Stones most nasty/dirty work was produced during the Mick Taylor stretch.

To hear some talk, Taylor is an incoherent drug victim who is destitute. Glad to see he is anything but.
