You're right again Naomi. Yes of course some people will resist this idea. It goes against the grain, so to speak. However, when we take our blinders off and begin to see our children as real people, then we can treat them fairly and respect what they say as real.
This is ridiculous and encourages name-calling, terrible advice. Instead, if the boy starts calling his sister stupid, you pull over the car, turn around and look him in the eye. Explain to him what an asshole he's being and if he wants to go through life destroying every relationship he'll ever have the chance to have then that's fine, he can die a sad, lonely piece of shit. Drop him off at the orphanage and leave him there a few days while he contemplates his dick-headed behaviour.
Or: Our habits are "against the grain" of true human nature.
