Unfairness towards both genders exists and neither unfairness towards men or unfairness towards women should be deemed more important or unfair than the other.

It is so important for both feminist groups and groups representing equal rights for men to not fight each other. Any feminist suggesting that men do not have legitimate complaints about unfairness is not a feminist and any man who believes in equal rights for men but suggests that feminism is bullshit is also a hypocrit.

Yes, these "feminist groups" are doing the wrong thing in terms of equality but that shouldn't define feminism. I dont ask that you judge feminism by the actions of a few misguided feminist groups. I only ask that you to take an honest look at all of the activities that currently function under the banner of feminism together, and then make a judgment.

The question you must ask is, is feminist activism still needed? is it still good? or would it need to change drastically before it is worthy of your support?

If the actions that use the name of feminism to get people to support them are not worthy of the name, then either these groups must voluntarily stop using the good name of feminism, they should be loudly denounced and dissowned by feminists, or the name will get draged through the mud. And I think that that is only fair.

They would never stop using the name. The name is, unfortunately, an effective cover for misandry. Any group who wants the rights of one gender to be more than the other is not a feminist, it is the exact opposite of feminism which is the belief that both genders should be equal. The problem is that most feminists, who would be most of the people living in the Western world, are just regular people with no affiliations with feminist organisations, so we generally don't "loudly denounce" groups.

I believe feminist activism is still needed but i believe that it includes activism supporting the equality of both men and women in different aspects of society. As I've mentioned before, feminism is a concept, not an organisation so the activism differs greatly from one interpretation of the concept to another. Some groups are worthy of my support, some are not. They are not all the same but i believe that most do the right thing. But don't consider misandrists to be feminists.

none the less, there is a break down of communication somewhere. Because no matter what you think feminism is really supposed to mean, you just try telling that to the "feminists". Tell Gloria Steinem, Naomi Wolf, Catharine Mackinnon, Carol Gilligan, or Diana Russell that they are not really feminists. Tell that to thier fans in academia. They probably won't listen or care.

The people who publish papers in womens studies, and lobby governments as feminists, have a good claim on legitimacy.
