I've been in a nasty crash before and heck the car looked worse than it would've in a test facility. This test still gives a good idea of what may happen and it's about as close to real life as it can get.

This can cause things such as punctured lungs torn aorta... It's the inertia that makes it dangerous. However im not sure if the difference in crumple zones even make a difference. These crash tests don't show how safe it really could be as they don't test internals.

for a small car the smart did quite well, you put a small car similar to the smart and it would do worse, mainly due to the fact that the smart has a stiff and strong structure. A heavier and bigger car will always do better though..

To the Mercedes Fan boys (and girls) You obviously don't realize that the smart brand is wholly owned and in fact was created by Mercedes.
You would actually be much safer in a Subaru or a Saab. (yes Saab is still around)
A Merc is still a good safety pick though

for a small car the smart did quite well, you put a small car similar to the smart and it would do worse, mainly due to the fact that the smart has a stiff and strong structure. A heavier and bigger car will always do better though..
