This is unbelieveable, don't these animals deserve more respect for giving up their lives to feed our hunger for meat, I have recently become vegitarian and it is hard, but it is even harder to sit here and watch this than giving up meat for life. I love to eat lamb, I think it is most delicious of meat...however, cruelty to animal shows weakness of being. Raising animal for food is not cruel at all, but to kill it for fun and to discard after is.

@CDLver The ethics involved in slaughtering and eating an animal, even if done humanely, is open for debate. But with most current breeds, docking tails is essential to animal welfare. Without it, sheep will contract flystrike and cause far more horrific pain than a simple docking procedure. If we are talking about castrating, one could argue it is unethical for an animal to be kept at sexual maturity without the opportunity to do what they were designed to do.

THE federal government has headed off a move in its own ranks to end live exports by announcing four projects to improve animal welfare. A live export ship has set sail for Egypt loaded with around 5,500 head of Kimberley cattle from the port of Broome in WA. The shipment is a welcome sight for the region's pastoralists, who have been struggling to offload cattle this year due to weight restrictions.In coming weeks, cattle shipments from the Kimberley will be heading to Indonesia and Malaysia. The shipment to Egypt is understood to be the first for Kimberley cattle in nearly a decade and will take approximately 14 days.

If i went into our local pet shop which was the same and placed them up on utube i would be liable to slander. One of our best Pet shops here with expert fish speakers often has dead fish in their tanks. Yet if i took a video of it at the time and tried to trash them, it would be me at fault.

I have photographed this cruelty at the Fremantle Port & in the first 30seconds of the footage they show a Live Export Ship that practically brings tears to my eyes as it is one that I have photographed & watched as animals are forced on in the heat, electrocuted & kicked. The Ship is called the Al SHUWAIKH & the oldest footage I have is Oct2010.

There is no animal welfare inspectorate here in Perth, where millions of animals are live exported yearly, not ONE animal has been welfare checked since 2009, don't believe me? That is a government issued statement, not AR misinformation. It takes 2-3 days just to load the boats, then 3 weeks to get to the destination in the Mid-East. Don't make accusations from NSW.

@CDLver The ethics involved in slaughtering and eating an animal, even if done humanely, is open for debate. But with most current breeds, docking tails is essential to animal welfare. Without it, sheep will contract flystrike and cause far more horrific pain than a simple docking procedure. If we are talking about castrating, one could argue it is unethical for an animal to be kept at sexual maturity without the opportunity to do what they were designed to do.

If raising animals for slaughter is inhumane, then I am guilty and shall remain so forever, although I consider farming to be one of the most honorable and moral trades that exists in modern society.

I agree with all of your comments. Its not only sheep who are treated this way. Cows and horses are also out in these awful conditions and so are your everyday house hold animals such as cats and dogs and even reptiles. Burn every mofo who treats an animal with such disrespect!

Hang on a minute.. What's with all of this AUSTRALIAN sheep stuff? NO sheep should be subjected to this; regardless of their country of origin. It's like the ban of thousands of Australian sheep being used in the 'Great' Egyptian feast. Wow. Yay. That just means the sheep are going to come from elsewhere.. So while I agree with this campaign, it's incredibly short sighted...

@waratahNSW Then the "new" Agriculture Minister is lacking in the most fundamental attribute of a civilized person... Empathy. With such poor judgment I'd find it difficult to understand how any of his policy decisions could be respected. Live export is barbaric, regardless of how it effects the "bottom line". There are some things too hideous to condone no matter how much greed attempts to make it otherwise.

None of it is "necessary"- We don't need to eat them, wear them or use them as frivolous entertainment. The days of ignorance are far behind us. If one chooses to harm animals these days (in the civilized world) it is for the pleasure of it. And we know what to call people who derive fun from abusing innocent beings for fun. THE federal government has headed off a move in its own ranks to end live exports by announcing four projects to improve animal welfare. Agriculture Minister Joe Ludwig, who recently reiterated the government's support for live exports, today announced nearly $1.1 million would be invested in animal welfare projects in the Middle East and South-East Asia.

A live export ship has set sail for Egypt loaded with around 5,500 head of Kimberley cattle from the port of Broome in WA. The shipment is a welcome sight for the region's pastoralists, who have been struggling to offload cattle this year due to weight restrictions.In coming weeks, cattle shipments from the Kimberley will be heading to Indonesia and Malaysia. The shipment to Egypt is understood to be the first for Kimberley cattle in nearly a decade and will take approximately 14 days.
