@drchedin Depends what you're playing it on. If you're talking about that particular boss, it is pretty tough in the original game, but a lot easier with ports that allow you to look up and down (which the former didn't have). The rest of the game is pretty easy once you know the weapons.

I beat that level when I heard a different scream of pain than all the other monsters after shooting rockets where the monsters were being ejected from.

After that it took about 10 tries because you have to fire the rocket just before the platform comes all the way up.

I didn't learn any cheat codes until much later when I used "IDclip" or maybe it was "idspispopd" to see what I was hitting.

@UnivingIshiro Well, it's complicated, to say the least. The boss itself is made of several different elements: one invisible "monster" that shoots the monsters, and the "brain" (Romero's head). By shooting into the hole, the blast radius of the rockets causes damage to the "brain", and when it "dies", the level ends. It wasn't actually going to have a sprite, but Romero saw it and gave it a sprite of his head, for shits and giggles.
