  • As a teenager, Pete Turhurne lived a block from my parents house in Breckenridge, Minnesota. I recall his passing our house nearly every day as he strolled the twelve blocks to downtown where he spent his time browsing around the stores. He was a few years older than me, but we occasionally would spend an afternoon fishing in a local river and I considered him a friend. Pete was a very kind and gentle person and I'm happy to know of his popularity and fame as a showperson.

  • I saw Pete last October. The sideshow is a truly amazing and somewhat lost art!

  • John, I saw Pete in the 70's in Ohio. The show was great and I was hooked. I went every year to the Fair and they let me hang around a bit... The last time I saw him was in 1981. I even went to Gibsonton in 2000 to find him... but after 28 years I saw him at the Ohio State Fair this August. He is still as kind as always and I was happy to spend the little time he had...as the show must go on.. Great Show Great People... I love the sideshow!! and Poobah too!

  • If he does not start shaking off the extra fuel off of the torch, he will eventually burn himself. The fuel needs to be shaken off the torch otherwise it could drip down on him.
