  • I loveloveloveloveLOVE this video so much!

  • stupid

  • @abc12347277 you are? thanks for your honesty.

  • what was the blue one?

  • @flautist02 a fut hok?

  • @neva2muchrice i read a hot fuk first , im so fucked up

  • Love this vid. My 3 year old watches it over and over. Had to get him his own lion suit

  • i've always wanted to see someone make a monster movie with a chinese lion

  • @SNB222 a monster movie is a bit hard as it can be very controversial to show the lion in a dark light. We have had some uninformed comments just from this video and this is us retelling the legend of the Dai Tao Fut.

  • lol the bad acting and bad effects makes it even better XD

  • @TheAngelgirl7 Hahaha we were young and this was fun. I am surprised by how people have taken interest in this video even though I facepalmed every time I watch it. We're making another video so hopefully the effect and acting should be better in that one =]

  • @neva2muchrice I live in westminster very near irvine , can you guys teach me , my team name is QUANG TRUNG lion

  • @hieutran100 Hi, we have heard of Quang Trung. Which branch of Quang Trung are you with? You don't need us to train you, Quang Trung has strong martial arts background and anything you want to learn can be taught to you by your teacher. Plus I'm pretty sure the 2 styles are different from each other.

  • @neva2muchrice haha , in westminster , people have 2 teams, the older is may team , and new Quang Trung I don't know, But I want go to anothet the team, because the leader doesn't like me , he have some new player about 10 people, and replace old player , that is sad, new player don't know anything about lions , sh...............

  • @hieutran100 So are you with old Quang Trung? I'm trying to understand better which team you are with, who's your team leader? Wow a new batch of people, that's pretty good. I don't understand why he would replace the older members since they have experience. There are plenty of teams in Westminster, are you looking to join anyone yet?

  • @neva2muchrice my leader name TRUONG, we dance a lot on last year, but this years so suck. When TRUONG have a show he didn't call older members. only call new members . I very upset because the New doesn't have experience even kungfu for high jump or roll. I don't have job right now, but I am looking a job right now . oH yeah My team dance for THUY NGA, PARIS BY NIGHT 101 , that is my team . I know my lions not beauty than your lions :))

  • you guys should make a video on when the nien came to earth and the lion came saved the day LOL and other stories about the lion dance on how they got startedLOL

  • @Goldjade14 well this was just a fun young project but that's definitely ideas for the future. Too bad some people don't even know the history and start going rampant on this video like how the lion shouldn't be evil or thinking the legend they heard is the only one. Glad you heard of this one and we should post up a new video soon.

  • Very clever, love it. :]

  • My fav part was when the guy gets eaten

:D which guy are u in here?

    For some reason Chinese lions

Remind me of owls (^ ^)

I guess that's just me, when do I not compare something to an owl? Lol

  • wow, you guys are lucky to have schools there to teach ya'll. in india we have to wait till CNY to watch, learn and replicate. we just practice for maybe two or three weeks. the chinese community is dying here ever since the indo-china war. we got no proper training here, jus wild imagination and copy movements of the cat (well thats what i do, the others have their own technique). sigh guess there won't be anymore lions here in a few more years...

  • @nickojack There are some tutorial on youtube that you can learn from. There's a variety of styles to choose from. Practicing 2-3 weeks will leave you very limited in terms of developing your skill as certain dancers practice for a whole year for one performance. It's actually better to look at dogs than cats when trying to replicate the animal's movement. It's quite a shame because lion dance has evolve so much that though it originated from China, other cultures has adopted it as their own.

  • @neva2muchrice we actually do this jus for new year and cuz almost all the chinese people have migrated away to either canada, usa, uk or australia we dnt have any chinese martial arts schools here or any sifu's who can guide us, jus the old folk who have very traditional dancing techniques. the young bunch like me use them n incorporate them with newer styles that we pick up or observe by watching animals like i said but do check out the videos i posted and give pointers, i'd appreciate that :)

  • i like the black lion lol

  • lol this is the best and funniest lion legend skit i ever seen in my life xD

  • This was fantastic! I'm trying to find a school that teaches lion dancing near me but it is hard to find good ones. I laughed so hard watching this, I'm glad someone created this video to highlight not only a legend but also a great art :) Keep up the good work!

  • @equinedreamz where are you located at? may as I well start somewhere and hopefully you can help the team build and grow with it. I'm so glad that you kno that it is based on a legend.

  • i have gotten in thos pants too...i dont know how to spell the lion head in chinese but i play them... sai tao right lion head? in chi?

  • @haikelmadani haha I'm not quite sure, we're a Vietnamese team so our Chinese is very limited. We have Chinese people on the team but that's why I said limited.

  • @haikelmadani yh wat ur saying is right like see tow

  • @wilsonikesh yeah!!...se tao

  • Splendid show!

  • my daughter is 3years old and she can't get enough of this vid, keep up the good work guys ^^b

  • what.... the.... fuck

  • ew the girl lion has a beard! ^^ lmao

  • what the fuck is this shit

  • lol star wars

  • @xia0dai97 star wars?

  • @neva2muchrice the sound on 5:35

  • The lion dance has great history and tells a great story within the dance but you go ahead and make a dis tasteful soap opera out of it. Really the monk as a bad guy?? Go and joke on some other tradition maybe dress up in a fat red suit....and I have been lion dancing for 5 years and never seen this type of disregard for lion dancing. You may think I take this tooooo seriously but alot of people who want to see us perform also take this type of thing seriously! Call it superstition if you may.

  • @idryousuke Are you serious? Do you not know your legends? The Buddha sent down the monk to tame the lion as it is wreaking havoc against mankind....that means he's the good guy and the lions are bad. You ever heard of the story of the Dai Tao Fut? Or maybe the Nien? The lion starts out as bad in those stories. My first instinct was right, you believe that whatever you learn within those 5 years in your school is the only way and only style. Watch this video if you doubt us, /watch?v=ufcdOOaekOQ

  • @idryousuke I hope you know the man in the link that I sent you because most likely you're doing the style that he made big. If not then you should be doing Chow Gar, Choy Li Fut, Hung Gar etc. but that means you would need to know your history so I doubt it. Not to compare experience but dun throw your years around like it suppose to change anything. I've been doing martial arts and connect it with my lion dance for 18 years and we make an effort to learn the legends and understand other teams.

  • @idryousuke I don't want to get into an argument over this and to see who knows more. I just suggest you do some light reading on the legends of how the lions came to be (Nien, Lion and Goddess of Mercy, original of Dai Tao Fut etc.). Yea we did change it to make it more comical but we kept it as respectable as possible. Obviously there are other who disagree with you basing on the comments. I hope that you change your way of thinking in the future, if not then feel free to disagree.

  • Is this a mockery of the lion dance tradition??

  • @idryousuke I would ask you of what provoke your comment to try and reason with you but from reading your other comments on other people's video, I can see that you're one of those people who believe that their style is the best, and there's no other style and unwilling to accept. Also, you enjoy insulting other through an internet medium thus making you a cyber bully with no video/performance of your own. I hope I'm wrong on this and that you do want to help but for now, you have a nice day =]

  • good good and very good..¡¡¡

  • they are really cute, i love the blue one, my favorite part is probably when the black lion met the white one, and the black lions jaw just dropped, and when that guy was sent to tame them, when he came to the earth all drunk, and when they were chasing him, lmfao... this story made my day

  • @vivalabannana9 your comment made our day =]

  • I wish those lions weren't so mean! They're so cute, I just want to hug them! :3

  • @NodDisciple1 hahaha no worries, they become nicer at the end.

  • wat is the name of your kung fu school may i ask?

  • @lil21mitchy hey, we are a collegiate/community lion dancing group. The founder has martial art training in Shaolin Kung Fu but does not wish to connect his school to the team to create an open forum for anyone to join. We also develop our own style and prefer to operate independently. May we ask where you are from?

  • @neva2muchrice i am from San Jose, CA. i participate in the lion dancing and dragon dancing in a kung fu school. its called yun yee tong.

  • @lil21mitchy very nice to meet you. Hope to see you in So-Cal this year if you're coming for Beyond the Pride Xhibition.

  • @neva2muchrice hahah as a matter of fact, i will be ;D

  • @lil21mitchy are you guys still coming down? That be awesome.

  • LOL where did that come from?

  • @sonicgak2 hey...where did what come from?

  • @neva2muchrice when the dude got eaten by the lion

  • there not lions there dragons

  • @skullboyemo not sure where you are getting your information but the majority call it lion dancing. A dragon dance is different. You might want to just google the two.

  • @skullboyemo there lion im in a lion dance club called yueng dak... in hawaii dragon usually have 10 people dogs have 2 lions have two

  • lol i started to choke on my pretzal lol

  • @AznBanditJohn lol take it easy, we don't want to lose a friend already

  • srry im in wah ngai

  • very cute. my kids couldnt stop laughing

  • @sassyboriqua26 we're glad they liked it and hopefully become future lion dancers =)

  • It's chinese-american, that's why it sucks!!

  • @osmodivs everyone is entitled to their opinions but must race and ethnicity really play a role in your decision making? So you automatically condemn people who are trying to learn and do something that connects them back to their ancestry and roots? Fyi, we're Vietnamese (not all but most) but I doubt that will change your state of mind.

  • @neva2muchrice It's not about race, it's about culture, american culture that made them act like fools. It's like a Chicano, who thinks he is mexican but he speaks english, acts and think like a north american, you get the idea.

  • @osmodivs I can understand what you mean by the cockiness of Americans but I have travel to a few countries and the only difference is those individual Americans that you see on the news take their action to the extreme. However, are you referring to Chinese Americans or Americans? Also, how has this video provoke such disparaging comment from you? Is it also necessary to generalize a group of people?

  • @osmodivs actually we're vietnamese...and you must be projecting yourself...

  • w0w really good where do u live i lion dance and im from a family of kung fu famous masters in hong kong

  • @littlmissnonperfect we're from Orange County, California. Thank you for watching and liking our video. Always happy to talk to a fellow lion dancers from far away. What is the name of the martial arts school you are from? I only know of the famous Hung Sing in HK.

  • w0w really good

  • cai nay chi tuong tuong thui hok co thietdau

  • favorite part is at 1:44 X3

  • lol so cute ^^ i want a lion costume ^^

  • This video is AMAZING!!! and the lions are SOOO CUTE!! X3

  • These lions are adorable! I cant get enough of them!

  • to alam553 chuc mung nam moi to you too i hop you have a great new year! every one im pretty late though lol.

  • i love the first part it scared me i kept on getting scared by replaying it.

  • was this based on a real story by the way chuc mung nam moi!

  • chuc mung nam moi everybody! was this based on a real story????

  • =] description ->

  • chuc mung nam moi to you too! Depend on what you mean by a real story. This story has been passed down from one generation to another about the coming of the lion. There are many stories involving the lion but this is one is often told as the importance of the Dai-Tao-Fut/Ong-Dia/Buddha-man. You may find one of Siow Sifu retelling this story in his 2nd video teaching about the Dai Tao Fut.

  • i would want to join lion dance but i live far away

  • I want to join as well but I already do martial arts and I don't think my parents would let me.

  • where you are located? I'm pretty sure there are respectable lion dancing teams around your area. Just make sure they provide you with proper directions and skills.

  • @neva2muchrice i live in chicago IL but now our ld teacher quit so im looking for a new one :( trust me other teams dont reply to mail and my applications for their team

  • that's a shame that teams can do that to such a passionate dancer. One thing about lion dancing is that because we are so small in community awareness that the level of professionalism is low. We wish you the best of luck with finding a team that will fit your drive for the art.

  • onewing angel haha

  • was the blue one a baby?

  • yes, the lion was rebuilt by the girls at the end of the video to look like that.

  • This was cute and funny.

  • this is a really good and funny vid

  • very funny vid.

  • very similar to the Lieu Quan's story but instead Ong Dia tamed the lion with his magical fan and will only come down on new years to scare away evil spirits and bring joy happiness and prosperity

  • thought this was gonna be serious.,...NOT lol

  • I enjoyed the video... a creative sense of style. The humor was an enjoyable aspect to the story. The legend that you told is quite similar to the one I was told. After being tamed by the Ong Dia.. The lions in a sense became his pets and became guardians for humankind. Its a good thing that yalls put this kind of productions out there to tell of the stories and traditions that we hold on to.

  • funny when the black one dropped his food and stared at what i think is Rain LMFAO

  • they do not wreak havoc on mankind!!!! they wear of evil your a disgrace!

  • @huynh12312 This comment utterly profound in its lack of information. Before making such a comment and confronting others, you should make sure you know all that you need to know. If you want to hear from a respectable Sifu about this story then search "Dai Tao Fut (Big Buddha Head) Explanation Part 2." There are many legends and stories about how the lion came to be and if you don't know who that man is then go search "The Lion and The Goddess of Mercy" for another mischievous lion story.

  • @hackermouse1 I'm sorry...what are you talking about?

  • This video was awesome! :P

  • HAHAHA!!

  • I loved the part where they mugged the dude!

  • Pretty Funny.

And comedy aside, there seem to be so many different versions of the story. I wish there was a collection of them all and perhaps a scholarly study of geographical differences

  • Yes, that would be nice. I have seen a DVD that talks about the closest historical reference of where lion dance did arrive from and how it came to be. Though I prefer telling this legend or else it'll just be another dance and nothing special.

  • nice video and creativy i would've never thought of doing this

  • man those girls r hot

  • you guys have fut san and hok san lions?

  • @gogomushie lol fut san and hok san is the drumming lol

  • its the type of lions as well the curved lip is fut san and the flat lip on eis hok san

  • LOLs siol. ... -.-

  • haha love it when that lion kept his mouth open

  • omg, fighting by a warter gun ? lol, so funy

    Well doneeeee :D

  • the one in the red is hotter

  • Lol, a water gun?

  • cats are afraid of water =)

  • that is great, i love it.

traditionally it should have been a fan i would think.

  • dam that was the funiest and the coolest video of a funny lion dance family and the girls are freaken hot especialy the one in thte blue

  • very good vid

  • the three girls at the end r so hot!!!!!

  • LOL...well not in this lovey-dovey way...

  • or should i say saigon?? lol not sure

  • I'm not quite sure which previous dude you're talking about but we're located in Southern California. We're a Viet team but we love diversity.

  • LMAO!!! so funny

  • LOL this is so funny. XD Love it.

  • andy has a mua lan too

  • May I ask who is andy and why is that relevant?

  • andy is my little brother, who has been using my account without my permission and is going to get in trouble for it....and i suppose his having a lion costume thingy is irrelevant lolz

  • LOL! That's just hilarious well tell Andy to keep lion dancing and stop spamming with his older brother's account.

  • hahahah i can see why u guys say its funny i was like wtf, but when i watched it lmao
