  • I can't get tired of watching this. It was on before every home game when I was a kid. Later, as an undergrad at IU, I learned that the ad was filmed in the basement of the music building. Those are practice rooms, in which I practiced. Who cares, it is all IU. It's Indiana!

  • While not as a commercial, they have brought this back, playing it before the Hoosiers take the court before every game at Assembly Hall.

  • I agree. I wish they would bring this back...........Always have to watch this after a big IU win......FOR EXAMPLE IU over KY on 12/10/11 and then again tonite over OSU. Happy New Year, Hoo Hoo Hoo Hoosiers!!!

  • I wish somebody would bring this commercial back!

  • Does this bring back great memories!

  • Oh wow...that brings back some warm childhood memories.

  • @then3v Yeah you guys have so many championships in football and basketball, good work. Get your jokes in before the movement starts, Indiana basketball is back and gonna kick your ass again. We're taking over Indiana recruiting, just look at our classes so far from 2012-14, Purdue isn't gonna stand a chance.

Example: Derek Willis commits to Purdue, decommitts and now considers IU as one of his top schools. LOL.

    Purdue <

  • This video pumped me up, I feel like we can win national championships now.

  • This is Classic!

To the Purdue fans, just remember, when it comes to Purdue mens basketball and football, NCAA stands for No Championships AT ALL!!!

    Go Hoosiers!

  • I'm a Purdue Grad...A Page to prove PU BEATS IU ALL DAY, EVERY DAY .... IU or Purdue group on Facebook about to have Purdue over IU all day!

  • Comment removed

  • @then3v so where are your 5 national titles at? Faggot

  • LMAO i dont know why they took this off before the IU games. This was tradition as the candy stripe warmups are

  • I'd completely forgotten this! Takes me back about a million years. Loved the IU basketball program. Let's get it back to where it was.

  • I miss Robert Montgomery Knight!

  • Have a copy of the one with Bobby knight at the end?

  • that always fired me up for the hoosiers!!!

  • This brings back so many good memories. I long for the day when the Hoosiers owned the Big 10. Hail to Bob Knight!!!!!!!

  • Remember this well in my younger days.

  • Did u know that they play this at assembly hall a few minutes before the tip off? It's pretty cool:)

  • Martha. And it's a mop.

  • @1xWillyWonkax1 It's a dust broom........not a mop, look closer.

  • Green18600.....lay off Miles Brand

  • (The Late) NCAA President Myles Brand was a God Damned joke to Indiana University and to the NCAA. Do not tell me to lay off on a worthless son of a bitch like him. He embarrassed Bob Knight and the institution. Get a life and read the United States Constitution ... specifically the 14th Amendment You Need To!!

  • It's not surprising she can only get a janitorial job with an iu degree.

  • @jvail05 Hey jvail05, Really intelligent comment. What about you? How is your life going? My guess is not very well.

  • I well I'm 30 now, I can remember my dad and I would not miss a hoosers' game and we tape the games if we would had to miss them. I can there was another intro to the IU games, Goes something like "Come on Dad the Hoosers are on"

  • brings back memories when i was a kid watching iu games with my dad

  • @jyoungvideo I hear ya bro I'm 21 now and have been a IU basketball fan my whole life. Make it to at least 1 game every year!

  • should of had the oscar robertson commercial follow this up...oscar you still playing with that can?...a basketball....classic

  • I really wish that IU played my Louisville Cardinals year in year out it could become a great rivalry!

  • Gosh, I remember watching this at the beginning of every game. Brings back such memories watching games from Shelbyville, IN. Yes, Miles Brand was a complete Idiot. He comes to Indiana thinking he is mr bad president, fires Knight and the program has not been the same since. Davis took Knights team to the championship but couldn't win it. Sampson was a cheat before he got there, but they hired him anyway. Go figure.

  • and how gay is it that when you search indiana university basketball that this is the first thing that comes up????

  • @19pimpin91

People like you give Purdue fans a bad reputation. Granted, there are IU fans with the same maturity level as you, but my god you're making yourself look dumb.

  • @19pimpin91 I won't waste my time trying to prove how idiotic your comment is, your comment stands alone as prime evidence of your stupidity.

  • I loved this video when I was a kid. Go Hoosiers.

  • Seeing this is one of my very first memories.

  • Listening to this intro to an Indiana basketball game brings back many many fond memories of when the Hoosiers under Bobby Knight were a damn good team. GO HOOSIERS!

  • Brings tears to my eyes

  • @dabehrs Mine too.

  • What a great Intro to IU basketball to bad our Hoosiers stink. Oh for the good old days of the hurrin hoosiers

  • Carol Burnett would sure be proud!

I hear they're going to build another Assembly Hall-

and they're shipping this one to Boston, where those tax and spend yankees play basketball in the same garden a bit longer.

  • OMGoodness! I remember being a tiny little thang with my broom waiting for this intro so that I could sing with her! Thanks for uploading this!

  • I remember this growing up and it brings back so many great memories thanks for sharing this video!

  • Classic* Here she is sweeping, and then just goes off. No other college/university can top this...then she chuckles at the end...the best

  • Brings back the days of Landon Turner, Ray Tolbert, Isaiah Thomas (as a great player, not a bad coach/owner), Ted Kitchel, Randy Wittman, and the most awful, ugly, red plaid jacket anyone has ever seen - My only question, where are the games posted? I want to see them again!

  • I loved this before every IU basketball game. It's simply awesome that they are bringing the 'Mop Lady' tradition along with several others back to IU basketball. GO BIG RED!

  • OMG, this just gave me goosebumps! I REMEMBER!

    GO HOOSIERS!

  • I was still in school when this intro was played before games. The entire family stopped to watch. Oh, we watched the games, too.

  • i miss it to ( go hoosiers)

  • I grew up in Indiana and I remember this intro so well. It brings back alot of memories from the 1970's.

  • What an awesome blast from the past!! Chuck Marlowe doing play by play. I sure miss the old TTV4 productions.

  • Wow

  • I too am a Indiana kid who remembers this intro to the IU ballgames. It brings back alot of good memories. I will save it and play it often!

  • Please don't ever lose this. It is a special memory for me. I am not only an IU grad but also someone who remembers Hooks Drugs and AFNB -- even though I am long gone from IN now. I was a kid watching this, and I will never forget it.

  • Come back Indiana misses you..GO IU!

  • I don't think the style of the jersey has anything to do with it, I think its the player in the jersey that wins games.

  • we keep our jerseys for tradition, and we have good ones, not ugly osu or uk long shorts

  • kelley school of business is overrated but i love IU, go hoosiers!

  • My grandfather died today and I remember watching this before every IU game with him. Popcorn and root beer were over flowing.

  • I grew up 45 min from Bloomington in Terre Haute and every Saturday afternoon during the Basketball season we would watch IU basketball from Bloomington and let me say that Bobby Knight was the GREATEST coach of ALL time.

  • douchebag

  • i can probably guarantee that your an Illinois fan. 1 word; BITCHES

  • I remember watching this before every IU game. Thank you for bringing back that memory!!!

  • Now that's old school.GO HOOSIERS!

  • best commercial of all time

  • I'd rather lose with dignity and honor than to win by cheating and lying

  • He did not abuse any player beyond what has been done throughout the decades. Media made more of a big deal about it because it was Bob Knight. If he abused his players they way you imply, he would have been prosecuted. I was smacked around by football coaches back in the day and it made me a better player. Too bad we live in a wimpy society now where people like you can't handle it and want to point fingers. Go back to your Cards! Go Hoosiers!!

  • GO HOOSIERS!

  • Or the Jerry Springer Show we love to call UL

  • The following theme had meaning and spontaneity back in the 1970's and 1980's when Indiana University Basketball Games were on WTTV Channel 4. Sponsors like American Fletcher National Bank, AMAX, Hook's Drugs, and Indiana Bell were the main sponsors for the game. Bob Knight did everything right at Indiana. NCAA President Myles Brand would be wise to suck his own dick for the disgrace he caused to this school. A Fat 6!!

  • @Green18600 The sick part is myles brand became president of NCAA. Yet he destroyed IU? Hey Green18600 you remember when all the IU stuff was breaking out and people wanted knight gone cause he couldnt win in first round anymore? I bet IU would like to just sniff the tournament now. And the sanctions all the time and speculation of charges. Knight won clean very few in the history did......Discipline is the one thing that is lost in nowdays society with all the multitasking. nobody can finish

  • I used to watch this on TTV4 back in the day... good stuff

  • This is so crazy. I totally remember this. Good stuff!!!

  • This brings back old memories. Wasn't there a later version where coach Knight comes and says great job to her?

  • THat would be the Game Promos that aired during the week..she'd be singing..they would show info on that weeks game..then coach Knight would step from the side and say "NICE JOB!"..Pat her on the back and walk off..she'd do the laugh again..fade to black

  • Ah, yes ... takes me back to the days of hiking over to Ollie's Trolley on Kirkwood at 11pm in the middle of a snowstorm, with barely enough pocket change for an Ollieburger and fries.

  • OMG! That's so awesome and just to think I actually know the cleaning lady! haha This is a riot!!!!!!

  • classic IU

the best program in the nation

  • when was the last time the gophers won anything

  • NCAA champs 2002, 2003 in Hockey. #1 in wrestling for years. Good teams overall. How about the hooisers? when have they done ANYTING? (Besides embarass themselves with their coaching blunders) ROFL!

  • No one gives a shit about hockey and wrestling. Dont be dumb.

  • no one? ur an idiot. Just cause your loser university doesn't have a team doesn't mean no one cares hick.

  • 5 National titles to your how many?

  • how bout we stay in the current millenium, your school is a JOKE

  • Fine with me. We have a co-championship in 2002. When did you last do anything in conference play? A Big Ten title in 1967? We also have a runner up appearance under Davis in 2002 in the National tournament. Minnesota can say what? A win against us here and a win against us there. Nothing really impressive That Sampson is gone and Crean will do much better than Sampson. The only joke here is Minnesota's drought!

  • We are headed in the right direction ourselves. Crean has not been in trouble that I know of and we got rid of the players that Sampson brought with him. Football has something to build on after going to our first bowl game since 1993(?). If U of M has IU covered in most sports, looks like it is not for much longer!

  • 4 Words. Kelley School of Business.

  • And you probabaly pump gas for a living.Indiana WILL be back!Oh yes, they will be back.

  • Vikingsguy I hope you are kidding... Where do you go to school?

  • ALERT: Schedule change for Martha's interview on air with Terri Stacy at WIBC, 93.1 FM radio:

Due to John McClain's impromptu visit 2/22, I have been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 4 at 8:10 am, EST. Hope to reach some old fans! Thanks for tuning in. Martha, "IU Cleaning Lady" Webster

  • Martha the IU Cleaning Lady (aka my mom) will be interviewed Fri 2/22/08 8am on 93.1FM WIBC in Indy!

  • Thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories for this Bobby Knight/IU fan! I had a great time making this commercial and am happy it still remembered. Yes, it's me: Martha, the "IU Cleaning Lady" sending lots of love to all.

  • martha, i love you, you are the best!!!!

  • Love you too! I'm proud to be an IU fan, and we still remember you.

  • What Coach Sampson does should have no effect on the players. It's really a shame that people come to such conclusions about the players and institution based on one man, who I do say may have had some bad calls, but I've never seen one man love his players so much. I will be sad if he is fired, and... GO HOOSIERS

  • Does anyone have a copy of the one where Martha bumps into Coach Knight at the end?

Would love to see that again.

  • I would love to see this one again. (the one where Martha runs into Coach) Brings back such great childhood memories for me.

  • havent seen that since i was a kid! musta been in the early 80s!made me think of uwe blab.awesome vid . i didnt go to school at iu but i grew up in so. indiana and have always been a fan.

  • Puts a lump in this Hoosier fan's throat to see this again. I remember going to a game at Assembly Hall and Martha came out and swept across the floor to a HUGE ovation. Great stuff!

  • All time classic! Don't ever take this off!

  • Oh man, I love that... as a kid, that was always the precursor to a great IU game (Wittman, Kitchel, Thomas, J. Thomas, Morgan, Robinson!).

I don't cheer for IU, anymore, though. They don't really recruit Indiana kids... All the good Indiana kids go to Butler, IUPUI, Purdue, Western Michigan, and Notre Dame.

  • Yeah, Armon Bassett, Eric Gordon, and Dereek Elston 9coming in 09) all suck.

By the way, that's sarcasm. All those guys are from Indiana, and are outstanding basketball players. Also, while I love Indiana basketball, there are plenty of talented players from other states. How can you not love dJ White, or AJ Moye? In conclustion, have fun cheering for those loser teams that you mentioned. IUPUI....WMU??? LMAO

  • The BEST!

  • yeah hoosiers!!

god i love my school =]

  • What happen to the old school IU Fan that put his schools honor before victory. Sampson is a no good cheating low life and IU fans love him just because he brings in some good talent. I miss the old school IU fan who wouldn't sellout for a crocked coach.

  • GREAT

  • I remember this so well from long ago. In New Albany our cable service got the feed from WTTV Channel 4 in Bloomington and I watched many games on there. Thanks for posting it.

  • That sad how ur sn is "FireMikeDavis," and u can't even give a reason for it! At least make a video 'bout it!!

  • I'm not a IU fan but my mom was, and I remember seeing this lady sing before the game started! Brings back memories of my childhood...seeing this after so many years gives me the chills.... : )

  • It has been so long since I have watched that, fantastic! Makes me very proud to be a Hoosier!

  • Is there any way I can save this video to a disc? Thank you!

  • Gotta love the Hooks Drugs and Amax Coal! Great stuff!

  • Wow! I haven't heard this since I was little girl. Brings back so many memeories of watching IU basketball with my dad! GO IU!

  • I swear there was an "alternate" version at one point where Bob Knight came in and said "Thanks, Martha" or something like that. I think it might have been when she retired.

I'd love to know the history behind this intro... such a classy way to start a game.

And I got chills, too... Thank you for posting this!!

  • There was a State Farm commercial in the 90s with her and Knight as well where he goes "Martha, you're back!".

  • I remember that one well!

  • I don't remember that version, but I remember an intro a few years later where Coach Knight says "Martha, you're back!"

  • Go Big Red!

  • Farm Bureau owns the rights...and will not sell it.for now at least.

  • I agree -- we need to bring this back! I was a freshman at IU when we won the 1976 championship -- it doesn't get any better than that. But when I think of IU basketball, I think of this game intro. Let's bring it back -- just as it is, not a redux!

  • Does anybody know how to download a youtube video? I would love for my computer to start up to this every day!

  • This is how I knew IU was getting ready to play when I was little! I wish they would still play this before the games. WOW what memories. For The Glory of Old IU!!!

  • I was a kid in Bloomington when this came out. What memories. Sure liked it better when channel 4 had all the games on Thursday nights instead of the crazy hours and days we have to put up with for ESPN and network TV. Where is Chuck Marlowe these days?

  • Martha was in assembly hall in the basement hallway. it's a half-moon curve shape on either side of the court... that's an easy mistake to make, however.

  • Anybody notice she was in the music building?

  • OMG, I got chills.

  • I haven's seen this in a LONG time. This is great, thanks for posting it. Go IU!!!!!

  • nobody likes purdue, dont be ridiculous

  • I'm so tickled to find this posted. I tried to tell my kids about it for years, and they had decided I was hallucinating about "the gold old days" again!

  • Oh my gosh, I had totally forgotten about this!! So cool to see it again after all these years -- thanks for posting it!

  • Thanks so much for posting this. It definitely brings back good memories!

  • That is awesome. I've been trying to find this forever! I think they should bring it or something similar back. If I remember correctly, it was on for awhile, then they took it off, then brought it back a few years later. When they brought it back, it was re-recorded, where at the end, her mop bumps into someone's feet, the camera pans up to reveal Coach Knight, who exclaims, "Martha, You're back.". Ahhh, the simple things in life! :)

  • This lady's name was Martha. She was an opera singer, if memory serves. This was a fantastic way to start off the old Bobby Knight games. Too bad this isn't used any longer.

  • That's great! Now we need to see the old Farm Bureau Insurance one where a guy finds his old tuba in his attic and plays the IU fight song on it. We also need somebody to post a clip of "the shot" from '87 against Syracuse. Thanks for posting this one:)

  • I am also dying to see the Tuba one again

  • Sorry, Folks. The tuba intro was for Purdue Basketball. It was the Farm Bureau counterpart for Purdue games.

  • someone needs to upload the purdue tuba one as well..

  • Thanks for the memories!!!

  • Awesome - I haven't seen this in years!!
