  • Looks like a perfect thing for the "honeydo" list!

  • @1965Pittsburgh That list seems to grow! LOL! Thanks for watching! God's blessings: The Winans

  • Oh how I wish I had one just like yours.. its beautiful!! I am green! I am guilty! Sorry! Blessings to you!

  • @snaps81625 Thanks! God's blessings to you! The Winans

  • Hi, Great to see your channel. We have an Amish built wood cook stove, that heats our 700' log cabin.

Curious, what video camera do you use? We also have kerosene lamps and of course this gives low lighting, so I'm impressed with your video. Thanks, Campfirepoetry

  • @campfirepoetry Thanks so much for watching and taking time to comment! We use a sony handycam and a cannon powershot. This video was done with the powershot. The lighting in this video wasn't too bad but some of our other ones are pretty dark but I think they were done in the evening near dusk or even dark.

    Thanks again! May God bless!

  • Thank you for posting this, we bought a home with a wood cookstove and I had to kind of guess how to clean it. Ive been doing exactly as you have done so I must have guessed right! Your home is so beautiful, looking forward to more videos:)

  • Great video, I really loved seeing it. I think that wood cookstoves are very sensible investments. Not only can they be life savers in the event of a winter power outage, but they can help reduce one's dependence on gas and electricity. I say the work involved in getting the wood and cleaning the darn thing now and then is still worth it.

  • @Coaljet Thanks for visiting and taking time to leave a comment. Wood stoves are an incredible invention! We could not do without ours, it's our furnance, hot water heater, clothes dryer in enclement weather, how we cook. I've used its warmth as an incubator for warming newly born goat kids and freshly hatch chicks who decided they needed to come while it was still too cold out. She can do all these things at one time using the same amount of full as if for one task, now that's convenience!

  • Thank You for the great video. My wife a born and raised mountain woman from western NC recently asked me for a wood cook stove. I was kinda taken aback by her request. She is only in her late twenties. We heat exclusively with wood and this is what prompted her I think. We hope to be moving to our own homestead when spring thaw hits.

  • @mountainman28713 Glad you enjoyed the video. I understand when you say you were "taken aback" by your wife wanting a wood cookstove. My wife was 24 when she decided she wanted one, I thought she was crazy.. We got one a year later but didn't hook it up for 2 more years. It took me some time to warm up to the idea but I've been sold ever sense. It's been 13 years now. 4 years ago we gave up our propane totally and now only have the wood. Wouldn't want it any other way. Thanks again.

  • Loved this video - would love to see more vids cooking with this stove also baking! One question, I see all the firewood in the kitchen, doesn't this bring all kinds of bugs in the house too? How do you deal with that?

  • @ElizabethIrish Thanks for the comment! We actually have planned on doing some cooking videos, had wanted to have them done by now but just haven't had time. I am going to try to have at least one done and up by next week. As for the wood, we live in a northern climate and bugs aren't ever really a problem. Once in a while a straggler will find it's way in the house. Even in summer it's never really been an issue. If it were a warmer climate it would probably be a bigger problem. Thanks!

  • @ElizabethIrish Question for you - did you inherit this stove like the ice box or did you buy it? Was is always in such good condition or did you restore it? Have it restored? We are looking for one for our home and the restored ones are SO expensive - over $3000 typically and as much as $5000. Yours is beautiful - any chance you could put in the description which model/brand this is? Thanks again

  • @ElizabethIrish The wood stove looks like something from Lehmans, but like you I would like to find out the make and model. Did you ever find out what it was and how much they cost?

  • @ElizabethIrish I am so sorry! I totally did not see your comment on here till someone left a question for you just a couple days ago. I find that getting comments from youtube is unreliable. Again I'm sorry! To answer your questions though it is a reproduction called a "margin Gem" For the most part have been happy with it but had a few issues. Paid about $4500. Ordered it online from Stoves and More. If you have any more questions please ask & I promise to check my inbox better!
