  • Jon Hiseman was my dad's favorite drummer. Now he's one of mine.

  • It looks to me as if the performance was mimed! The drumming actions don't match the soundtrack at all for a lot of the time. Unless the sync is way out!

  • Dave Clem Clempson who was in Humble Pie?

  • Yes, the vocalist is Dave 'Clem' 'Clemmi' Clempson and the flute player is Barbara Thompson, Mr Hiseman's wive.

  • is the vocalist clem clempson ?

  • Great song, great band, great performance ! PS. Who is this lovely flute player ?:)

  • jon hiseman is amazing...

  • Great political statement. Particularly in view of this montrous treasonous misfuk that is presently happening in America

  • Dick Heckstall-Smith was crazy!!! In this video you can see him playing sax and clarinet at the same time. He was incredible musician.

  • @saturnative it is a soprano saxophone, not a clarinet, I suppose.

  • The singer is Clem and not James

  • If anyone has the complete video of this song with the rest of the incredible drum solo please post it. Thanks

  • In a doku from the 90s, James Litherland said about the band-hirachie:

It was Hiseman's band. Then comes Heckstall-Smith - then Reeves and Greenslade.

And he himself was the last in this order.

  • This isn't James Litherland singing in this video. James Litherland is a far, far better vocalist and was the best vocalist Colosseum ever had.

James Litherland is still singing and is as good as or better than ever.

I also liked Chris Farlow's voice but don't think Colloseum was best suited to show his talents.

Jon Hiseman spolied Colliseum by making too many changes in the line up and by being a control freak and not allowing enough artistic freedom.

  • WOW

  • Why did James Litherland leave Colosseum in the first place?

  • He left to form the decent but relatively inconsequential Mogul Thrash

  • This is kind. He was actually 'let go' by Hiseman who was looking for a more accomplished guitarist and singer. Enter Clempson. Later, still not satisfied with vocals he hired Dave Greenslade's old mate, Chris Farlowe. Tony Reeves (bass here) also went out of favour and was replaced by Mark Clarke, who could also sing pretty well, giving the ultimate line-up with strong lead and backing vocals.

  • The Best of Colosseum with James Litherland, I really like his voice. To me this is the REAL Colosseum ! Tanks to whoever posted the video.

  • Clem Clempson is one of the most underrated guitarist. As well as John Hiseman, one of the best drummer, but only few people knows him. And Colosseum (with FArlow and Clarke) was really a great band but they didn't have the success they deserved. What a pity

  • The guitarist is David Clempson. This is kind of 'intermediate' line-up with Clempson as lead guitarist and vocalist and even Barbara Thompson on flute.

Yes, it'd be great to see 'The Kettle' or anything with Litherland !

  • Clempson was much better than Litherland (although the Kettle does kick ass!)

  • I always liked Litherland more but Clem was excellent. I think what he meant was that it was intermediate cause Clem looks like he's struggling playing and singing where as when they got Chris in it flowed much better! FIVE STARS FOR COLOSSEUM

  • G R E A T

At the time when Colosseum were at their best, is the guitarist James Litherland ?

could someone put 'The kettle' on the air please.

  • The guitarist is David Clempson; this is kind of 'intermediate' line-up featuring Clempson as lead guitarist and vocalist and for this occasion even Barbara Thompson on flute.

Yes it'd be great to see 'The Kettle' or anything with Litherland !

  • ive got it uploaded now.

  • awesome awesome awesome
