I watched some of these proceedings when I was out of town. Gonzalez got raped on all sides. He is an absolute despicable liar. Specter said so himself, so did every democrat on the committee. So did Jeff Sessions, who usually is the most Republican senator I can think of. Gonzalez lied about the firings of the attourneys. He lied about the illegal aliens. He committed blatant perjury under oath of office. That isn't just grounds for resignation. Gonzalez belongs in jail.

As far as the firings go, as much as I hate to admit it, there is very little they can actually do. Really, the pres can fire any attorney for any reason at any time. The issue here however, is that Gonzales is a ****ing liar.

Even if AG Alberto Gonzalez were found innocent of firing 7 US Attys., he's shown to be mentally challenged to keep the job. He suffers from senility & amnesia; he sounds like Oliver North and the late Ronald Reagan, he recalls nothing. His brain is "full of emptiness," hollow just like Bush's and his Admin.
