This song has NEVER been off any audio device I have ever owned. From an old C60 mix tapes , vyinal, CDs, all the way thro burnt CD,s to my ipod. A true great.
My younger brother who listens to the Black Eyed Peas just told me to stop playing this aloud because this song "annoys him." Oh fucking hell NO. If he wasn't family his head would be so far up his ass it would come back out from his neck. I think i'm going to disown him. What do you guys think?
@blackhorse099 let him have his opinion. I can understand that joy division isn't to everyones taste (even though I think this song is an excellent piece of pop music), but who knows, one day he might even like it. maybe after t-pain or somene samples it.
pop is a less of a genre and more of a term used to describe music that has transcended its genre (in this case post punk), whilst joy division may not be "pop" I think this song is famous and popular enough for it to be considered a pop song. its like saying sweet child of mine isn't a pop song cause guns n roses are a rock band. besides there are loads of post punk bands that are also more or less pop bands, like bloc party. pop doesn't always mean gaga or beiber.

@Sixalienasa Yes I understood what your thinking was but still I wanted to let you in on the joke. I find it a tragedy that Ian lost so much of his life so I agree with you. Peel gave a lot of artists an opportunity of exposure they might otherwise have missed, in a way I think he was the patron of great, unrecognised music.

i'm a life long fan of joy division and new order. its quite sad llstening to this as less that a year after this recording ian took his own life, a tragic loss not just because of his musical legacy being cut tragically short, but also because of the fact the guy was suffering from chronic depression and no one could save him. also, RIP john peel and tony wilson

This song is amazing, don't get me wrong. But it isn't the untouchable masterpiece that people make it out to be. They did some much better stuff. This is just like Joy Division 101.
This son is amazing, don't get me wrong. But it isn't the untouchable masterpiece that people make it out to be. They did some much better stuff. This is just like Joy Division 101.
Justin Bieber is a pubescent cunt, with his wannabe player moves, crappy music, and inexperience in the entertainment field, I think he is a totally atrocious anal bead compared to the status of joy division. Sex appeal can't always win against the artistic frustration of 80's post punk bands, and if it does, we'll be living in a sad world.
@ratedsick only problem is actually playing music through an instrument takes talent, actually performing this song with integrity takes talent, justin beiber has none, his vocals are enhanced through producing to sound actually tolerable, but he has no talent so he cant do anything but justin beiber songs
para todos los fanaticos de esta gran banda no permitire que este album se termine con 2 canciones... el 2 de enero colgare mi primer single no me fallen acabemos con la basura comercial trivial por M M pasen la voz
everybody waiting the album complete for just 2 song wonderfull
my band is same style because i am influence about this but

their will never be a band that compares to this one this is top shelf music you cant just get lucky and make music like this.
pure feeling. 100% raw. if you think otherwise you are entitled to your opinion and if you like that Jb fag. you should just cut your wrists or something or hold your head underwater for 45 minutes...
this is purely great...<3. i played this at a party of mine...a teen party and lots of faces grew sour...of course others apprecaited it and liked it...hahahaha
Anyone who doesnt like this song, doesnt know what real music is. And thats from a 21 year old whose generation of music is meant to the likes of justin faggot bieber and others. This song was made before i was even born, but its just a wonderful song and such a great piece of art. Ian curtis had more talent in his fingernails than the majority of singers today, he has been missed but will never be forgotten
@tonymontanna4united Ian Curtis was an absolutely legend. I dont quite know what to call the stuff being pumped out today, but it most certainly is not "music". My 5 year old daughter has more creativity and lasting appeal when she bangs her toys together.
@Glorious80s Tbh id rather go out to and buy a single your little daughter made, than spend 1 bloody penny on pure trash produced by the likes of lady gaga, justin bieber, jls, and all these other crappers we see around in the music scene today. Its just pathetic they even get their music (if u can call it that) actually approved and deemed acceptable to be played on the radio, tv etc, making them millions. I mean fucks sake i cud write better, but long as they got sex appeal that seems enough
@tonymontanna4united I was with you until you started with the Faggot shit. What is wrong with you? If you love Joy Division how the fuck can you be a homophobe? So uncool dude.
@Lynleyland I wasnt usin the term to say anythin homophobic. I realise the word usually derives from somethin u wud call a gay person but it wasnt meant to be like that. The term fag is used alot 2day to describe people who r just douches, idiots tossers or whatever so when i called justin bieber a fag it wasnt anything to do with his sexual orientation i can promise u that. I apologise tho if i offended u or any1 else as i didnt mean that. Just went into a rant on music and came out with it
@tonymontanna4united I am aware that people use the word Gay to denote all manner of unflattering meanings. Not long ago people used nigger that way. If what you are at your core is used as the ultimate slur, it is difficult to just laugh it off. I am sure you don't have homophobic motives but unless you call the women in your life cunts (all in good fun, of course) and your Arab friends camel jockey's, I'd look for something other than Gay to refer to the lowest of the low.
@tonymontanna4united BTW: I'm not having a go at you, just showing you what it's like for the people who are gay and have to endure even nice, well-meaning people slamming us.
@tonymontanna4united To be as ignorant as to say that everyone that doesn't like this track is wrong, is just wrong in it self. Lot's of people have different opinion, and different tastes in music. Some likes this, some likes Justin Bieber, nothing is really wrong, as art cannot be measured. It depends on from who's eyes you see it.
@tonymontanna4united dude, i'm not even going to read this. i'm just sick of people like you who come onto videos of older music and claim that you're some sort of prodigy who realizes what good music is... sure you like joy division. but do you think you're the only one? 21 isn't even young. by 21 i expect you to be listening to shite like this. and i'm younger than you.
@KazakageoftheSand Wow ur really takin this personally arent u for some1 who didnt even bother to read what i said. Please quote me where i claim i and only i know what good music is. All i said was if any1 doesnt like this song they dont know what good music is, which i stand by. U dont have to like this song to admit its a classic piece of music written by a genuis. I never like michael jackson but that dont mean he wasnt a genius of wrote brilliant music, just wasnt my cup of tea is all.
@KazakageoftheSand But then id expect a response like urs when u call this music "shite". And im guessing from the calls about my age and 21 being old, aswell as calling this music shite, ur probably some 15 year old who listens to lady gaga and justin bieber and thinks music was shite before 2007. Why im even writing to u i dont know, all i said was any1 should like this song and appreciate the genuis behind it, genuis that very few people supposed singers today actually possess. End of ok
@tonymontanna4united you obviously haven't read my post either ^^ joy division is my favorite bloody band. when i say 'shite like this' i'm not calling this music shite. i'm saying you shouldn't be bragging about liking this, you should be expected to like this. your comment would have been fine without your age. but what is that relevant to?
@KazakageoftheSand I read what u said, but u couldnt have made it any unclearer if you'd tried. If u r generally a fan of this band then fine, i was only havin a go as i thought u were a typical kid of today who considers this shite yet thinks justin bieber is the 2nd coming of god. I brought up my age for this very reason as i thought it was quite relevant to point out this music appeals to every1 and not just the older generation, and that not all kids 2day listen to crap. I wasnt bragging nor
@KazakageoftheSand was i trying to say i and i alone know what good music is. If you look, ud see i made that comment a good few months ago, in response to a few idiots who were bad mouthing this song and the genius that was ian curtis. I stood up and defended this tune and wanted to show every1 on here than not every young person today thinks the same and only listens to jb and such crap. People have their preferences and thats ok, i just dont like people criticising music i love.
@Amarynthine Yes and people have their tastes, but everyone should be able to appreciate the genius behind such a tune that imo only 1 or 2 possess in the music industry today. I wasnt even born when this song was released, yet even tho i wasnt from those times this song still impacts me, whereas for the music of my generation im quite frankly embarrrased by it, and im very open of that with the exception of a few decent bands/singers. Thats all i was saying.
@tonymontanna4united I'm always happy when younger people appreciate music from the 80's. There was a goldmine of good music back then. There was also a load of shit, as with any generation. You just had to find it. We had no Internet, no YouTube, or I tunes. Only MTV (yes, they really played music back then) or you had to search for it in a record shop, or know someone who had been exposed to it and could then expose you. And it made you appreciate it all the more!
@cerisewings Usually when i find something new (well i guess it would be considered old, but new to me) i'll expose it to my friends and see whether or not they like the band. Unfortunately record shops are scarce anymore espcially in a little town like Sycamore/Dekalb so its hard to find new music that way.
You fucknuggets completely miss the point of this. Including back then, when, really.. people would show up to their concerts and whilst listening, act like they were unimpressed, which was the whole point of the new romantic movement in the first place. His lyrics aren't good, and he puts no effort into his voice. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but that's only because of the backing music and the age of it/role of it.
@TynanAed what the fuck are you talking about? The quality and depth of his lyrics are universally-recognized, by both the critics and fans. His doomy, baritone singing style was essential to the Joy Division sound and don't tell us he didn't put any effort into it. Songs like "New Dawn Fades", "Digital", "Shadoplay", "Atmosphere" and "Transmission" display a heart-wrenching intensity of emotion in his vocal delivery.

This song is amazing, don't get me wrong. But it isn't the untouchable masterpiece that people make it out to be. They did some much better stuff. This is just like Joy Division 101.

It's really depressing that the bieber spam even hits Joy Division songs
Cyaneyed77 11 months ago 67
Justin Bieber is a pubescent cunt, with his wannabe player moves, crappy music, and inexperience in the entertainment field, I think he is a totally atrocious anal bead compared to the status of joy division. Sex appeal can't always win against the artistic frustration of 80's post punk bands, and if it does, we'll be living in a sad world.
fealty01 11 months ago
@fealty01
Your Right. Justin Bieber should totally cover this song.
ratedsick 11 months ago
@ratedsick only problem is actually playing music through an instrument takes talent, actually performing this song with integrity takes talent, justin beiber has none, his vocals are enhanced through producing to sound actually tolerable, but he has no talent so he cant do anything but justin beiber songs

their will never be a band that compares to this one this is top shelf music you cant just get lucky and make music like this.
pure feeling. 100% raw. if you think otherwise you are entitled to your opinion and if you like that Jb fag. you should just cut your wrists or something or hold your head underwater for 45 minutes...

@bobbyjo101 the link is the fact that people would rather listen to his gay whining then the good shit. That being Joy Division.

Anyone who doesnt like this song, doesnt know what real music is. And thats from a 21 year old whose generation of music is meant to the likes of justin faggot bieber and others. This song was made before i was even born, but its just a wonderful song and such a great piece of art. Ian curtis had more talent in his fingernails than the majority of singers today, he has been missed but will never be forgotten
tonymontanna4united 1 year ago 51
@tonymontanna4united Ian Curtis was an absolutely legend. I dont quite know what to call the stuff being pumped out today, but it most certainly is not "music". My 5 year old daughter has more creativity and lasting appeal when she bangs her toys together.
Glorious80s 1 year ago
@Glorious80s Tbh id rather go out to and buy a single your little daughter made, than spend 1 bloody penny on pure trash produced by the likes of lady gaga, justin bieber, jls, and all these other crappers we see around in the music scene today. Its just pathetic they even get their music (if u can call it that) actually approved and deemed acceptable to be played on the radio, tv etc, making them millions. I mean fucks sake i cud write better, but long as they got sex appeal that seems enough
tonymontanna4united 1 year ago
@tonymontanna4united I was with you until you started with the Faggot shit. What is wrong with you? If you love Joy Division how the fuck can you be a homophobe? So uncool dude.
Lynleyland 1 year ago
@Lynleyland I wasnt usin the term to say anythin homophobic. I realise the word usually derives from somethin u wud call a gay person but it wasnt meant to be like that. The term fag is used alot 2day to describe people who r just douches, idiots tossers or whatever so when i called justin bieber a fag it wasnt anything to do with his sexual orientation i can promise u that. I apologise tho if i offended u or any1 else as i didnt mean that. Just went into a rant on music and came out with it
tonymontanna4united 1 year ago
@tonymontanna4united I am aware that people use the word Gay to denote all manner of unflattering meanings. Not long ago people used nigger that way. If what you are at your core is used as the ultimate slur, it is difficult to just laugh it off. I am sure you don't have homophobic motives but unless you call the women in your life cunts (all in good fun, of course) and your Arab friends camel jockey's, I'd look for something other than Gay to refer to the lowest of the low.
Lynleyland 1 year ago
@tonymontanna4united BTW: I'm not having a go at you, just showing you what it's like for the people who are gay and have to endure even nice, well-meaning people slamming us.
Peace!
Lynleyland 1 year ago

KazakageoftheSand 9 months ago
@KazakageoftheSand Wow ur really takin this personally arent u for some1 who didnt even bother to read what i said. Please quote me where i claim i and only i know what good music is. All i said was if any1 doesnt like this song they dont know what good music is, which i stand by. U dont have to like this song to admit its a classic piece of music written by a genuis. I never like michael jackson but that dont mean he wasnt a genius of wrote brilliant music, just wasnt my cup of tea is all.
tonymontanna4united 9 months ago
@KazakageoftheSand But then id expect a response like urs when u call this music "shite". And im guessing from the calls about my age and 21 being old, aswell as calling this music shite, ur probably some 15 year old who listens to lady gaga and justin bieber and thinks music was shite before 2007. Why im even writing to u i dont know, all i said was any1 should like this song and appreciate the genuis behind it, genuis that very few people supposed singers today actually possess. End of ok
tonymontanna4united 9 months ago
@tonymontanna4united you obviously haven't read my post either ^^ joy division is my favorite bloody band. when i say 'shite like this' i'm not calling this music shite. i'm saying you shouldn't be bragging about liking this, you should be expected to like this. your comment would have been fine without your age. but what is that relevant to?
KazakageoftheSand 9 months ago
@KazakageoftheSand I read what u said, but u couldnt have made it any unclearer if you'd tried. If u r generally a fan of this band then fine, i was only havin a go as i thought u were a typical kid of today who considers this shite yet thinks justin bieber is the 2nd coming of god. I brought up my age for this very reason as i thought it was quite relevant to point out this music appeals to every1 and not just the older generation, and that not all kids 2day listen to crap. I wasnt bragging nor
tonymontanna4united 9 months ago
@KazakageoftheSand was i trying to say i and i alone know what good music is. If you look, ud see i made that comment a good few months ago, in response to a few idiots who were bad mouthing this song and the genius that was ian curtis. I stood up and defended this tune and wanted to show every1 on here than not every young person today thinks the same and only listens to jb and such crap. People have their preferences and thats ok, i just dont like people criticising music i love.
tonymontanna4united 9 months ago
@tonymontanna4united have you ever thought its a matter of taste?
Amarynthine 9 months ago

@cerisewings In France in the 80's, no music on tv, only some records shops and good sellers to give their advice...

@amevolution Ah France...I have fond memories of Paris in the 80's. Beautiful city!
cerisewings 2 months ago

TynanAed 1 year ago
@TynanAed what the fuck are you talking about? The quality and depth of his lyrics are universally-recognized, by both the critics and fans. His doomy, baritone singing style was essential to the Joy Division sound and don't tell us he didn't put any effort into it. Songs like "New Dawn Fades", "Digital", "Shadoplay", "Atmosphere" and "Transmission" display a heart-wrenching intensity of emotion in his vocal delivery.
