I would argue that keeping the cat is animal abuse... to the OTHER cat. I mean even if these two are willing to live with a crazy cat that tries to jump at their throat several times a day, it is not fair on the other cat to force it to live in terror and constant threat of attack. My vet says male orange & white cats carry a gene which, when dominant, cause the cat to be horribly aggressive w/people & other animals. I have a cat just like that. He's on Zoloft (never had a cat on psych meds before!), but hasn't helped a whole lot. There's on-going research on this issue at vet schools. My other orange/white male cat's fine (recessive gene), but this other one's a monster and has been that way since kittenhood. Vet said some are so bad, they have to be put down.

My vet says male orange & white cats carry a gene which, when dominant, cause the cat to be horribly aggressive w/people & other animals. I have a cat just like that. He's on Zoloft (never had a cat on psych meds before!), but hasn't helped a whole lot. There's on-going research on this issue at vet schools. My other orange/white male cat's fine (recessive gene), but this other one's a monster and has been that way since kittenhood. Vet said some are so bad, they have to be put down.

@catrazed actually, thats just the vet's way of giving up on the cat. My cat was the same way. She's not the same breed, but had the same attitude. She's almost a perfect angel now. I've worked with her since she was a 13 wk old kitten. Just keep working with your cat. ^^

i think the cat was a stray, and was a stray from the day he was born...i think he might be thinking that you've trapped him in your home, i mean if he has been used to the "wild" all it's life...it might behave violently in a home since its not domesticated.

ok here is the deal I see how they can deal with the problem before he even attacks just like with the dogwhisper this works with cats I seen him do it, you give that cat the spray when hes about to do the movement u can see when he is gonna move the moment he gets ready spray and have a calm assertive attitude u have to have the energy I don't like that and you will not do it I may have lived with dogs mostly but I had a neighbor with cats I watched how she dealt with that kind of behavior

@shoecat42 not really if you have someone else u need to spray the cat when its attention is elsewhere (subject of attack) and they spray the cat when you work together to do the training after a while there will be no need for the bottle they will think that a random thing is hitting them with the water and it might get them so they stop all together they cannot know who or where the spray actually came from to be effective

id send the cat to a shelter and let them find a home for it if the cat ever attacked me or my cat.it also takes lots of time and patients to help a cat fit in but if the cat dont fit in send it to a home that the cats do fit in

Major animal rights nuts will probably tear me a new one for this but I think if that cat was declawed many of the problems would be solved. We have a cat that used to beat up or other older cat too but as soon as she was declawed she stopped. I also had a cat as a child that would run and jump at you with her claws like this one does. Soon as the claws came out she stopped. It is not as bad as it used to be for cats since many vets use a laser and it is better than the cat losing its home.
