There was a nasty cunt of a PE teacher at my primary school in Birmingham in early 80's called Matthews who nowadays would have lost his job for how he pushed kids about and hit them for nothing. I was sure that Brian Conley's character was based on him in The Grimleys.

@LeeJTurnock , John Broughton of Tom Hood school Leytonstone London, was EXACTLY the real life Mr Hicks, Grange hill spoke volumes to kids who were picked on at school or just hated school full stop because of bullies or the teachers who even worse became the bullies, teachers are suposed to be somebody you go to for trust and help, click the thumbs up icon if you'd like to meet either the bullies or the teachers from your school when you were a kid and to give them a good hiding

That nasty games teacher I had at school got his just desserts when one of my mates flattened him in the fifth year. The guy was just a bully and a moron. Last I heard of him he had to retire due to a nervous breakdown- how sad.

Phil Redmond was right on the money with this storyline. I had a total bastard PE teacher who made my secondary school life horrendous. A few years ago when I went back to my old town for a school reunion, I happened across him in a pub, and he's a puny, boozy little git now. Justice prevailed when I learned how shocked and upset he was at how he'd made me feel. Today I work in schools myself and, thanks to scum like him, know exactly what NOT to do, so at least some good came from the bad.

I had a games teacher who was a bit of a pig- he used a pump just like Hicks did earlier in the episode- but after some school leaver floored him he seemed to mellow a bit. However, an even bigger psycho was a house master who hit people for next to nothing- one of my mates flattened him in the street after he left school.

she said "Do I know you?" so I said you knew me when I was 9 years old and that you had made my life a living hell. I then told her that I now worked within the law profession and that there were an "amazing" number of ex pupils etc that believe that teachers such as herself should pay for the mental torture they caused. She just said that it was bollocks so I called someone I worked with, passed the phone over and she was all apologetic to me after that..fuck off ..you're 20 years too late

I remember a scummy teacher like Hicks @ my school that tried being so hard til being kicked out getting physical. Saw the teacher in a local car & just also it gave me gr8 pleasure swearing etc , the face went all pale & I rubbed the salt into the wound my showing what car I was driving then scared the hell out the teacher & begged me not 2 attack

I had a right bitch of a teacher...she knows who she is, eh Miss C...she made me stand in front of the whole class once and got the class to shout STUPID at me for 5 minutes...she used to call me an idiot and a horrible little girl and that I was useless. I feel like I had been mentally scarred by that total arsehole. I saw her about 10 years after I left school....I had a fab job, house and fiance...and I had confidence to spare. So I asked her if she was still making folks lives a misery
