The bow portion was built in Bay City, Mchigan while the tug part was built in New Orleans.
Then parts were joined (in Erie) to the body of the barge section was built in Erie - the 1000' length prevents it from passing through the Welland Canal.
The Stewart J Cort (not the same design) was also assembled/built in Erie two years earlier.

Built in Erie,Pennsylvania at the Litton shipyards in 1973.

this ship is a tug boat but when you add the barrge part and it becomes a 1000 foot fretigher cool vid!
