im wiping a tear from my eyes with the memories of the beautiful innisfallen from as far back as i can remember she was MY ship.
when wed get to swansea i couldnt wait to get on her, she was the first step of being HOME. the postcard of her passing the castle on the river lee
is priceless, so many mornings of waking up on board and running to the front deck to wave at people on the banks by that castle will stay with me till i die.
thankyou 4 making me feel like a little excited boy again !!
Brilliant video, brought back memories of my childhood traveling to the UK. Wondering which ferry it would be, most vivid memories are of the Leinster, mainly though because of one very rough night at sea on her. Good to see pics of the jetfoil in there too, they seem to be rare.
Great video, brought back memories of traveling to Dublin as a kid in the seventies ! I loved the ferries and was sad to see that the Leinster & Innisfallen met their demise on an indian beach in 2004.The munster dissapeared from Lloyds register in 2005 last seen in China. The innisfallen was the fastest ferry in the world at 24.5 knots when launched in 1969.
oh my god what memories this slide show has brought back, recognised all the ferries sailed on all of them from Liverpool to Dublin. My sister & I would bet if it would be the Munster or Leinster that would take us to Dublin that year. It was sad to see the Liverpool Ferry terminal in ruins. Thanks for the happy memories though :)
very very good pics remember the munster and connaught well but my best memory is sailing on the new leinster on the maiden voyage in 1981 i think it was
What a well put together slide show... brought back tons of memories from back in the days when I was a kid... they were amazing ships for that era especially the Connaught what a beast she was....well done.
Beautiful slideshow, thanks for making it .. brought back some very fond memories ... it's hard to believe a lot of those are still sailing, especially the Inisfree, now sailing the cook straits.
Fantastic shots. Really brings back some memories - I used to watch the Connacht and Leinster cross Dublin Bay from the wall of Monkstown and Seapoint station and made lots of nerdy ship-spotting trips on them - now I'm at sea myself! Many of the pictures are postcards I recognise, but what is the ship at the breakers? Looks like the Dundalk (or St Cybi as I knew it) And what are the buildings at the end?
The ship in the breakers is/was the Dundalk and the buildings are what was the B&I ferry terminal (now demolished)at Liverpool's Waterloo dock.
As a child i sailed on these ferries. After finding most of the pictures on the net and bringing back such good memories i put together a slideshow. Thanks for your comment.
