I have never seen this, you've just brought a smile to face of an old fogey. Just shows you there's always stuff on youtube that you miss. Cheers man.
I think Fish was pretty fair. Rather than just slagging off a video he pointed out the difficulty of getting a record company to allow you to make a good one. Stiil who would have thought it eh?
Great voice !! How could I miss Steve Hogarth back in the 80.s I will never know.Guess I was busy listening to much on Duran Duran and Tears for Fears.
I actually saw how we live "live' bloody brilliant band, but the singer stood out above the rest. they had a song called "dryland" which jumped out from the rest of the songs. then h joined marillion, and we stood shouting for dryland, then the buggers recorded it next album!
omg, this is fantastically ironic... thanks for sharing this! That is not a bad song by hwl, btw.. H's voice hasn't changed a bit, same cannot be said for the good ole fish
Haven't commented on a video for years, and yet I feel compelled to with this one. Not just the irony and the coincidence, but the fact that he completely disregards the song almost straight away to talk about Marillion......
Wow, that has just blown my mind. I am guessing that was about 86/87 so wasn;t too long before H joined the band. My flabber is well and truly gasted!
Funnily enough I have the 12" single of "We Have All The Time In The World" which includes a B-side, called Lost at Sea, which is a really good song. His voice even then was clear and powerful. I asked him about it after a gig in Nottingham once, asking if he'd re-record it, he said no! lol. Maybe one HWL song is enough for Marillion, I prefer Lost At Sea to Dryland, truth be told.
I exchanged this video in 1990 for several beer tokens, it is indeed a great example of good Karma. The album this is taken from also includes the original Dry Land that Marillion re recorded for there Holidays in Eden album. If you get chance to listen to that album, so will begin to understand what Steve Hogarth brought to Marillion
its not just me is it, but that is steve hogarth in the video, if its not, its sound the double of him....

That is the most bizzare thing I have seen in years. if only he had a crystal ball...
H's voice was really good then but has matured so well.

You are so right, Lost at sea is a great tune, and i think Marillion as they sound now, would do a great version of it
jakefish999 4 years ago
Good Lord. How on earth did you find that?
Thankfully he liked the song, if he said it was crap it would have been awkward later on!
