I got to hang with him a year ago after the south bend reggae feat and I was on the stage with him during the show. He's really cool I didn't realize how old he was until my dad told me all the big names he out lived
He's out lived some BIG, BIG names and must run a marathon during each performance still now. That's because he has a big heart in every sense. I was fortunate enough to see him at the Brixton Academy in the early 80s, and with complete confidence I can say that there is not one artist whose voice can ride a rythmn like his. He is to dancehall as Bob Marley was to Roots. Long, long live the King!
Yellowman is a amazing! A true talent...a living legend. Slow? Been to a show lately? More energy and stamina than most in their 20's. A true entertainer.
All of our reggae legends are dying, Gregory, Dennis, Bob, Peter, Jacob..well you get the point. We must appreciate the legends of reggae...nuff respect to King Yellow.
Sick and tired hearing everybody talk about how he's slowed down, voice,or whatever. YOU go and do what he does most nights of the year, and the travel, weather, cultures, food,;etc,... Hey, DON'T GO SEE HIM THEN... if it upsets you that much. He's not exactly young now, but still runs around for 2 1/2 hrs. almost nonstop. Give it a shot, you try it. Might change your mind.
One of the sickest concerts I've been to. Had a blast with all the boyz, & my GF! Yellowman played for 2 hours! Guy was full of energy and basically killed it!
Check out the dude on the Bass and keyboard. Those guys look like they had a little rasta!
I have noticed, even though yellowman is still strong, his performances are very slow compared to the 80's and 90's. The music has slowed down too, making his performances very slow. I can just watch old shows even from the early and late 90's, and yellow...damn, the music is played fast and yellow toasting fast and dancing and the place is just murderrrr...yeah!
Just saw yellowman on 7/25/10 for first time, just awesome his voice isn't as good as it was at his age but he still ripped the damn roof off the mawfawka, hope I will be able to see him again before he is done. He is an inspirational for all.
