Obamacare is a FARCE. Obama is doing NOTHING to lower the actual cost of the care given, NOTHING to lower what providers charge, NOTHING to lower what hospitals charge, NOTHING to lower what equipment makers charge and NOTHING to lower what drug makers charge. Costs are out of control because the system is BROKEN. He is fixing NOTHING. An ER visit for a broken wrist should NOT cost $4,736.29, yet that's what it can cost because of massive overbilling.
I understand the President’s point- prevention of medical complications is important, but I do not agree with his slander of physicians and the misinformation he gives the American people. I strongly oppose Obamacare because I do not want the government interfering in my relationships with patients. When I look at government run systems (inefficient DMV and Postal Service, mismanaged funds of Social Security), I cannot trust the government to manage something so important as healthcare.

It’s embarrassing that our own President does not have correct information on how the billing in our health care system works. Does he even understand our health care system? If we truly want health care reform, why are we not focusing on tort reform or adjusting malpractice insurance rates? These factors make significant contributions to the cost of health care.

Again, my patients come first and I am dedicated to their best interest. I would never perform an unnecessary surgery. Also, the President stated we make $50,000 for an amputation. For an amputation for diabetes, medicare will reimburse $879.21. No surgeon makes $50,000 as the President stated (youtube video: Doctors Choose Amputations because Surgeons Get Paid More). In fact, malpractice insurance can be 50K, sometimes more.
These 13 years of my life was dedicated to developing my mind so I could provide the best care possible. So how does our President describe my physician colleagues and I? He states that instead of doing what’s best for the patient, we look at reimbursements to decide patient care. He states we do unnecessary tonsillectomies for a “sore throat” to make money (youtube video: Obama- Doctors taking tonsils out for money).
As a doctor, I am extremely disappointed by President Obama’s statement that physicians perform unnecessary procedures/surgeries out of greed. My patients come first. When I made the decision to become a physician, I wanted to dedicate my time and life to providing the best and most compassionate care possible. After receiving a bachelors in science (4 years), I went to medical school (4 years) and residency (5 years).
it's one thing for the government to take over say,GM,because I can just buy another car but health care is for keeps.I don't want the government anywhere near my healthcare.
@rw5791 I can tell you've never had a major illness and had to deal with your insurance co. over it. I am disabled and need to beg private organizations to pay for my copay. My neurologist just dropped 100 patients, me among them, because the insurance company was too controlling and made it impossible for him schedule our treatments. If you're depending on your insurance company for anything other than primary care, then you are in for a shocker. Obama has done the right thing.
@jemjean At least Bush flew fighter jets this gutless anti american scumbag obama is disrespected by chinese, russians his fellow muslim brother terrorist even Israelis ignore this PUSSY, gutless coward makes sure muslim savages are giving rights they are not suppose to have and put brave american patriot SEALS on trial for beating muslim savage. obama is one term this november is beginning of the end of this moral and physical coward
@PleaseMrPresidentSir If you don't want insurance and come up sick......can we just shoot you? No, you'll be running for the nearest ER and we'll all end up paying for you. If you have the money, buy insurance. If you don't have the money, then seek assistance, but don't make it impossible for those who have chronic conditions to give up their needed treatments for you. If you oppose having to get insurance then you're either selfish or illegal and you don't care.
i really, REALLY want to listen what all those mindless obama fans (yes dumb fans, not voters) that blindly agreed that obama would save us without even reading his policies, have to say now!
you wanted change? here´s some spare change for america!
First of all, your mindlessness and others who think as you do, is the problem because you don't recognize the stress placed on a system of the medical aid presumption in the budget, and the placing of more unplanned burden on the system by allowing illegals healtcare they are not qualified for because of fact that they're here illegally.Let's say you budget for a family of 4 for food all week, then 2 more people show up...smaller portions or less of it! It's very simple.
@rwbthru150 If you truly believe that illegals aren't already at your table, then you naive. There is nothing in the bill that allows illegals to use our system and $. However, they show up at the ER and you pay anyhow. What you should be doing is working toward stopping them from coming here and making those here leave. But they should not stop us from reforming health care.
them & all the people that aint happy & dont aprreciate living in the best countrie in the world, his wife said this the first time shes proud of this coutry, well were the hell she been living the last forty nine years, THERE A JOKE! i think she has a hatred towards whites, white males in particularly !!
We'll brag that we have the best and most EXPENSIVE equiptment and lead in medical innovation. Yes we spend more but thats BECAUSE WE ARE THE WEALTHIEST and we have a right to. Well then you'll love a rude awakening, Japan leads the world in medical, but it in fact has the most advance and innexpensive medical technology. So Wealth is irrelevant Japan made sure of that. Heck Toshiba leads in medical innovation than phillips.
Also for those who have spouting crap that don't even have to do with health care. Well like i said Canada and the Uk aren't the only countries. Heck there are even better system what Obama is trying to bring a hybrid system. In a hybrid you can both private enterprise and a public option co-exist. it is used in New Zealand, Japan, France, Brazil, Germany, and Switzerland. Just to give an insight here is an example of the Japan's system.
Thank you- People on the right need to realize that medicare is made up of a pool of members over the age of 65. With a similar system that operated using a very large pool of healthier, younger (& older) contributors, the Vancouver doctor's concerns should be laid to rest. Medicare still runs more efficiently than private for-profit plans, and doctors themselves will tell you that these for-profit companies are what is preventing people from receiving the care they need while we pay the most.
@saxbeast4 I believe it's a two-way street. Doctors expect to live like kings and drug companies expect to live like kings by pimping their products thru the doctors. No one is in this for the patient and I can't believe anyone could be that naive. But, in this environment, at least make certain that everyone has a shot at health care.
HR 3400, a real Health reform bill, is stuck in committee by the democrats who do not want you to know about it. This bill would empower patients not government.
obama might going to cut my medical benefits just for the illegal immigrants??? WTF IS THIS SHIT? that is ridiculous, why i have to lose benefits just for the illegal ppl..... FUCK THEM FAGGOTS, OBAMA SHOULD HELP MORE LEGAL IMMIGRANTS
God dam!!! Ask any senior on medicare who has actually needed treatment. 1068 deductible for hospitals, no long term care, limits on benefits that any private insurance company would be demonized for having. Grow up. Medicare spends more per patient, yet provides far less benefits.
A Government Option regarding health care is very bad for Americans because all roads lead to Socialized medical system. Obama supports a "Single Payer System" like they have in Canada, the health care in Canada is sub par and imploding says top Canadian health care officials. If you want to give all Americans HC you will need to make Insurance companies compete state to state you will need tort reform to stop frivolous lawsuits against Docs that will drop HC costs dramatically. NO GOVERNMENT OP
well isn't it the health insurers who pay the doctors salary cause i know when i go to the doctor i dont pay for all of it and i would like to continue to not pay for it
The doctor,or should I say the crook docs, who are against the plan is because, they won't have the freedom to charge a patient whatever the hell they want. They will be regulated,a doc, shouldn't be free to charge for an x ray 300 bucks,if it actually cost less than 30 bucks. Doctors who are against this, fear, they won't be able to abuse the system and make 500k a year...
in Europe, doctors make more money,if they cure a patient,or get them Off a medication soon. Here its the other way around.
It is kind of amazing some people think health costs are like buying a car or any other commercial proposition (eg: all the insurance co-sponsored posts on Youtube, by varying "people"). You can plan to buy a car or a house: it's your own responsibility and your money allocation--but you can't plan a medical affliction. Not the same. I simply note one anti-health plan person on Ytube had her two fave videos as a) a revolver shooting into a tank, and b) a clip of Milton F'man on "Greed". True!!
The only revolt is from the Insurance companies, and the right-wing stooges that take their money to do the fake protests with the bused-in scripted plants at the town hall meetings. Olb'n and Maddow, and all the liberal blogs have exposed these protesters as bused-in fake plants, yet Ingraham still pretends it's real outrage from real people.
We must not let our good intentions result in a wrecking of our national healthcare system. Why rewrite the plans for all americans to remediate a problem only affecting some of them? 300 million > 50 million.
The Obama plan hopes to offer a public option, it's called competition, the thing Republicans claim to support. It's what you have in a truly free market, you have choices, and if the people choose the public option the private Insurance companies will have to lower their prices to compete, or they go out of business. That's called a free market: what part of that do you not understand?
I fear President Obama is misleading the American people down the path to Socialism. Americans are not up to speed about what's at stake, they just hear "free lunch" and say why not? The Administration is compiling an enemies list, Obama does not care about the economy, just the issues he has waited to have; A Democratic House, Senate & Executive Branch of Gov. Don't get on the MOBama hit list. Achtung Citizen. Your mind is the enemy. Knowledge is destructive. Obedience is power
american doctors are best like american car workers steel workers . Wake up son america is brankrupt. America does not make any thing the world wants to buy including their music.look after your poor and sick like the rest of the developed world
As for the American public, the reality that Obama is not up to the job seems to finally be setting-in; the poll numbers are now headed steadily south- is he already facing his Waterloo on this legislation?
Barack Obama will never say to your face what he actually plans to do. Everything's rolled-out in a Trojan horse. Theyll be no private insurance industry left after five years. Why should we give Government medical insurance to 15 million illegals?
The military is the most communistic organization in America. No matter how hard you work or what job you do the pay is the same. Food, housing, and school allowances and medical care are evenly distributed. Everyone wears the same uniform every day to work. It's a wonder how the "communistic" military runs so smoothly. I'm in the Air Force by the way.
bigger government spending bigger stimulation to the economy. i don't see why we shouldn't have that. liberals should see that they failed brutally since the 60s, from the incarceration of blacks to the runaway bosses who hired undocumented and documented workers. Liberals need to wake up and see that the state was/still is/will be involved in all economic/political processes. the economy is always embedded in society. companies cannot run the society by themselves
listen thick america the doctors are ripping you off . fuck the doctors . let the government run the health care import doctors from india for fraction the price. health care for all. one america
liberalism is a mental disorder and you have proven it once again! how about YOU take responsibility for your own health instead of being spoonfed your whole life by a "trustworthy" government?
Haha! Fuck the doctors?? You must be dense if you trust the government over doctors. The problem with the current state of healthcare isn't the doctors, it's the corrupt insurers. And your brilliant idea to bring doctors over from India...the best doctors in the world are American! It'll be REALLY interesting when you get sick and go to the government for help. See how long it takes them.
GET THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF HEALTHCARE....thats the problem, get it out and the costs will go down...
Oh well, the stupid liberals always overreaching and boy are they digging their graves for the next 2 decades...These stupid idiots forgot why they were out of power for so long..
i dont think that they should get out of healhcare completely, they should regulate certain things, like pharmaceutical companys and docters, make it so that they dont way over price things, the pharmaceutical companys make over 1000 percent profit on some of their drugs and even more than that in some cases and docters often overcharge things, which is quite annoying in my opinion, there is a difference in making a profit and just plain ripping people off, therefore there should be regulation
My grandmother is on medicare and gets social security -she has to spend 70% of her monthly ck on 2nd ins to be seen. Drs wont see medicare pat. due to them not getting paid 40% of big insurance co's. If he passes this Govt ins , Wont Dr's be able to turn them away? It sounds like all the Govt is doing if having a Govt. Ins. program. Now I am hearing were moving more toward like Cananda. We dont want that syste at all. They should ask Drs whats a fair payment for procedures not come up w a #
All these "doctors" in the video are all right wing money grubbers who lavished millions onto the GOP who brought us such things as 9-11, the unecessary loss of thousands of US troops, and debt so large it broke records. These greedy fucks hate working class people, listening to them is like a Jew taking advice from a nazi. Need proof? look around you. All 100% GOP caused.
Oh, so you demand perfection from the President trying to mop up your mess, but the guy YOU hired to make the mess got a total pass for two terms. Makes sense. We've got the numbers now. Fuck the right wing. Don't give me this "I'm an independent" bullshit either. If you are reading this and you voted for Bush either times, I mean this as sincerely as I can mean anything. "FUCK YOU, we don't give a fuck about your opinion. Listening to the Nazi right is what got us fucked to begin with."
I am glad the corporate elite have decided to stand up and protect me from Obama's refroms. I just wish they would stand up for me when it didn't threaten their gravy train. If you are pissing off the wealthy - you are on the right track. They talk about the virtures of hard work. Let them try it for a change.
Obama said if we passed his stimulus plan unemployment would stabalize at 7%.. We passed his plan and unemployment is at 9.5% and climbing. We listened to him once and now future generations will be in debt and suffer. Why should we listen to him concerning an issue as important as healthcare?
The fact that none of the "Americans" who fight against America can't give me any facts about Obama's health care plan let's me know that they're full of hot air.
elasatlaculos I have never in my life seen a more blatant twist of the facts, history, socialism, current health cares systems, or your take on what future Obama care involves. You have ABSOLUTELY no brains or facts to support your ludicrous statements.
Well - I am sure that you have a great amount of money riding on keeping the people in need. So you will say anything to keep 60 million Americans in dire straights.
The unsafe drugs from Canada you could get at a fraction of the US price are manufactured in Puerto Rico by the same plants that supply the US. Canadians are smart enough to use their government to negotiate a reasonable price. If Pfizer doesnt agree to a reasonable price, the government of Canada simply allows its domestic pharmaceutical manufacturers to produce generic versions of the drugs, with no royalties going to Pfizer.
I will gladly give up my right to sue my health care provider so long as I am given the right to kill him when he fucks up, or when I *think* he fucked up. Beware the chickenlittles who seek to tie your hands behind your back. Yearly cost of health care per person in Canada is $3,000. In the US it's $7,000. That extra $ goes into the HMO pockets. It's a scam. At cost helath care for America NOW! Anyone who opposes it is either stupid or has money as his priority, not your health.
The USA is #1 at everything EXCEPT for the standard of living for the working class, public education, and health care. We are the first nation ever to have one million citizens who are millionaires. We have that much wealth yet were told the world will fall apart if we use our government to protect the poor from profiteers in white coats. Nobody is looking for a free ride except the rich. They will say anything to keep you sick, and themselves rich.
A little over 200 years ago a rag tag bunch of misbehaving colonies got together and stood up. Within this time we've become the greatest Empire ever known. Anyone who tells you our government can't work for us to ensure our health care is provided at cost is a FUCKING LIAR. I've lived in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. The US system is the WORST I've ever seen. It's because the money changers are shitting it up for us. 60 million Americans go without, to enrich the rich.
Government run healthcare is the first step to socialism. So listen, "Comrade", in the past the government has had to remove themselves in order to insure complete independence of the people they represent. Plus, America chose a free market economy, that means American people run American business. That is clearly not to say insurance providers have not taken advantage of this in past. But, to say that America should stay a people country. (EXCEPT DEMOCRATS AND THIRD PARTIES)
Has anyone else noticed how most of Obama's critics have done nothing but cry socialism? I have yet to see anyone come up with another plan to get these 46 million uninsured on board. I really want to hear a discussion on how best to solve this health care crisis but all I hear are allegations of socialized medicine. What have the neocons done the past 8 years to address this problem?
Here is a plan that the doctors have been proposing for about 20 years. Its called Tort Reform. 1 out of every 5 dollars spent on health care is to protect ourselves from the lawyers. If we had tort reform, billions of dollars would be saved. The problem is that the lawyers make the laws, and the lawyers are the ones who make money off suing doctors. So I guess that is just not a "viable solution".
Well, they helpfully called our attention to cost by starting a war of choice that has run a tab of $700 billion, right? Since the Republicans spent us into insolvency, maybe that will motivate Obama to draft the most fiscally responsible bill possible?
I don't know, brother. I'm just trying to be creative in response to your question.
Please don't hang the pro-rich GOP fuck up on the Democrats. We tried to stop it, but too many fearful lazy Americans helped the GOP steer us into the rocks.
My sarcasm might not have come across clearly - I was trying to facetiously suggest that the GOP helped to emphasize the importance of fiscal responsibility by their being completely wasteful (and criminal, in the case of Iraq). From the tenor of your comment, it sounds like we're relatively on the same page - that is, unless I'm misunderstanding you.
It's funny you mention the sarcasm thing. I too have run into this. Someone asked me who I voted for. I said well let's see, I'm a working class pro-choice Liberal who only supports necessary wars who believes religion has no place in government, BUT I voted for the GOP. He thought I was serious.
It's easy to believe that kind of thing, unfortunately, when you see many - e.g. those who have benefitted from unions, had children killed in Iraq, lost homes because of fraud resulting from massive deregulation, etc. - vote against their own interests because of black president/gun/abortion/gay anxiety.
It's weird to watch those who defended wiretaps, torture, Bush's tax cuts, & Iraq attack a stimulus plan, taxes on the rich, and health care as Marxist usurpings of "freedom." Almost surreal.
Working class Republicans are a living, breathing example of what happens when we don't tax churches and allow public education to go inadequately funded. Even after the destruction of Germany at the end of WW2 (a conflict won by the Liberal Democrats) many Germans still believed in Hitler and his insane agenda. So the fact that the Fox News crowd try to avoid responsibility for their failed agenda is not surprising.
I just read someone's comment a few minutes ago who was claiming that liberals are the type that would have supported slavery in the 18th and 19th centuries. Ah yes, clearly. That's why we elected a black president...
The degree of projection is genuinely frightening - the same people that advocated wiretapping, torture, illegal detentions, and the Patriot Act are now accusing liberals of fascism and destruction of the Constitution. But the slavery thing - brother needs a shrink.
The right wing has two types of members. The money grubbers, and the stupid. I used to say the rich and the stupid, but there are middle class who think if they can only shit on their neighbor enough, that will somehow make them rich. I don't like stupid people and I don't like greedy people. Therefore I am not a Republican.
Whenever a Republican is brought on a news station to talk about their ideas to fix health care, it's always,"smaller gov't, less spending,". Not a single one of them has a sound solution to this problem. It's like the Reagan administration brainwashed every GOP member 28 years ago. They're all like broken records. lol One of their criticisms of Obama's plan is long wait times for treatment. Build more hospitals?
So you've noticed that too, abola. Republicans have no real alternative to the Democrat health care plan. I'm not even sure if Obama's ideas are flawless. I am only sure that there has never been an honest attempt by republicans to offer a viable alternative and if they were in power today they'd sit on their arses and let 47 million Americans continue to go uncovered. The Republican slogan is: "Let them eat tax cuts".
47 million? maybe 20 if that 20 of that 40 is actually illegal aliens who dont infact pay taxes nor do they need to be here unless they went through the proper process you need to do some more reading on the subject
"maybe 20 ... of that 40 is actually illegal aliens who dont infact pay taxes..."
And if so do you still want to watch tens of millions of hard working Americans lose their homes and life's savings just because they needed to go to the hospital? I suppose they don't count and it's all OK as long as you aren't one of them. If you lost your job and health insurance and lost your home because of medical bills you couldn't pay I sure wouldn't care about you and your problems either.
How about this for a fix. Turn the $92 bil/yr in Medicare fraud over to the Justice Dept to investigate, fine/jail the embezzelers of our tax money. Then overhaul the Medicare system to prevent it from happening again. Then take that $92 bil we save every year thereafter, and take out private catastrophic medical policies on every single of the 40 mil 'American without coverage'. Worst case scenario you'd STILL have $18.1 bil/yr leftover after covering all their deductibles. Dems: do the math.
Dems can't do math!!!!! don't you understand that yet? Just look at Obama's policies, you'll realize they can't even add and subtract, let alone "higher math" like what you are suggesting!!
Have you ever had to wait for healthcare? have you ever had to watch a loved one die because they couldn't get a procedure? My friend's father DIED because he lived in England, (which has socialistic care) because he had to wait to have a heart bypass surgery for several months. No, thanks, I would rather keep the current system (that denies care to no one!), then face the crap others do in Canada, England, etc.
Wrong, wrong, wrong! You have your head in the sand--wake up and smell the coffee! This has nothing to do with healthcare, and everything to do with controlling people's lives.
Are you seriously suggesting that only the GOP is putting out propaganda?
Pres. Obama, with all due respect, is lying thru his teeth every time he talks about this bill. For one thing, he hasn't read it,
When he puts his family under the same plan he wants to put MY family under, then maybe we will start to trust him a bit. Until then, he's just another hypocritical politician. No "hope" or "change" there.
you realize that its not entirely socialized right? you dont have to use government healthcare, you can stay with a private healthcare company if you want
Only until your employer realizes it will be cheaper to go on the public option. If your policy changes at all--pregnancy, marriage, whatever, it ends and you go on the public option.
they wont be aloud too, because why would they switch if you can do it yourself?, one the majority of the unions would not allow this and two im pretty sure that they arent aloud to according to the policy, i belive its only allowd to individuals and cant be used as a scapegoat by corperations and what not
They will switch because the gov't will TAX them if they are not on the public option. You will also be fined if you don't have certain coverage. You, as an average citizen, will be fined by your gov't for not having the care they want!
Go to a neutral website and read the bill for yourself. No one in Congress is reading it, so we the people need to educate ourselves.
you have clearly misinterpreted it then, it pretty clearly states that the employer, will be given a surtax if the healthcare doesnt meet the standard, and this only applies to employers whos annual income is over 350,000 dollars. and you wont be fined for not having it, you just still have to pay the tax for it, which means you should probably just get the public healthcare since your allready paying for it, this makes sure everyone gets healthcare, it you have a link apposing this plz post.
Okay, so call it a tax or a fine. It is still an amount of money you have to pay because you don't have the kind/amount of insurance that the gov't wants you to have. and it clearly states that if your insurance situation changes, you will have to go on the public option.
well a tax is not a fine, two very different things, and its not an extra tax because you dont have health insurace, its a tax that everyone would have to pay regardless of whether or not they have public, private, or no health insurence, its for everyone, not just people without it. what do you mean if your insurence situation has changed, and if you have a link to direct quotes from the bill that go with what your saying please post, i want to read them, ty
lol, but that argument goes against all taxes then, what if i said that i dont give a damn about the streets and sidewalks therefore i shouldnt have to pay taxes for it, does that mean that dont have to, no, i still have to, so your argument would only work if we got to choose where are tax money went, but we dont so your argument doesnt work, and that doesnt sound like a very neutral website but ill check it out anyways, thanks
That's my whole premise--forcing me to pay taxes for streets and sidewalks is wrong--if I want good streets, I'll move to a town who's citizens provide them.
Personally, I don't mind paying for streets, I use them everyday. Why should I have to pay a tax if I chose not to have health care? That is basically a punishment to get me to do what the gov't wants.
one, we as citizens do provide the streets indirectly via taxes, and if you moved to a town who did it without taxes it would still be socialism, and you pay taxes for plenty of things you dont use everyday
and you said to visit a neutral site, not me, but im not complaining, doesnt really matter to me
citizens providing things for their own towns is not socialism. Yes, unfortunately, I do pay taxes for many things everyday that I don't use. That is why I am against adding another massive one to the very long list.
I said visit a neutral site. You opted to let me recommend one--so I did. I never said it was a neutral site.
actually citizens of a town providing things for there town collectively is more socialistic than just paying taxes for stuff, and it wouldnt be a massive tax, especially if he gets out of the middle east in a hurry, then it will cost even less
Who do you think provides the scurity and laws, and people who enfoce the law to even allow you to live without being mugged or robbed... it is governmnet institutions, such as police courts etc..
who educates you, so you can read and write? Gov institutions called education.
if the government is elected, than that means YOU have provided these things for yourself, via your vote.
I demand that my local council makes my streets nice and easy to walk on, and clean. I demand this via my vote... if they piss me off, ill vote for the other team
this is how democracy works, and is similar to market principles..
And why on earth would you choose not to have health care? If you were hit by a bus, im certain you would want healthcare? or maybe not?
yes but you live in a nation that privdes you wiht all sorts of services... who on earth do you think pays for this? you do.. via tax.
Why cant you see, that you vote for them... the government is an extension of 'you'... they are there to fight for you against other entities, such as criminals, corporations, etc etc.... the heath and safety law thta tells your employer they cant leave wires hanging out of walls, comes from the government..
I think Obama needs to slow down. I don't think enough research and planning are being put into some of the decisions he is making. He ran on a platform of change but he has four years to initiate these reforms. So what is the big rush? Making changes without thorough investigation could be worse than doing nothing at all. Haste makes waste.
America is in collapse- see Gerald Celente's "The Collapse of 09"!!! Government spending is out of control, the politicians are all paid off by the elite wealthy, the average citizen is fat and unhealthy. Sounds like Rome in the 4th century. Don't fell bad. Every great civilization collapses at some point.
And we aren't opposed to fixing America. We are just more informed and realize that the fix you so myopically propose is no fix at all and is in fact what is causing problems to begin with.
Ask right wing boobs who oppose fixing America this - The US government has has gone from a few loose cannon Colonies to the greatest empire humanity has ever known in a few generations. Why now would you believe the money grubbing scum bags in the right that our government can't possibly provide at cost health care? You would have to be a fool to believe that.
"Doctors"? No. Those against Obama's plan are Businessmen and women who happen to hold MDs. Fact check it yourself. There is no proof out there backing up the propaganda being spread by the GOP and the money changers who seek to hold your health hostage for money. Don't be a coward and fall for the lies of the same criminals who wrecked the economy for the sake of their golden parachutes.
Look - until you stop making excuses for the right wing rape of our nation, you are not fit to be called anything but unAmerican. Man up. Stop telling lies against America. I won't bother talking to you until then.
I am not right wing. "Right wing" tends to mean more Fascist. "Left wing" tends to mean more socialist. I place BOTH of these ideologies on the side of tyrannical totalitarian anti-liberty government systems. I am as far from those as you can get.
I believe in Liberty and Limited government. You on the other hand profess totalitarian tyrannical socialism.
Just because I point out the fallacy of your attempt to blame everything on the GOP doesn't make me right wing. I am merely placing blame
Liberty and limited government are not supported by EITHER of the major parties. We HAVE no major parties that support Liberty and Limited government. That is indeed the whole problem. Yet Americans continue to believe these are their only options.
You are right that doctors are not in favor of Obamacare. I am a doctor, and frankly, I am looking at going into something entirely different if the changes Obama is proposing goes through. The 14 years I spent in training be damned!
You seem to be one of these people that think that health care comes out of a vacuum. It doesn't. You are going to have to pay for it. Doctors don't hold your health care hostage for money. They do doctor work for money like you do whatever it is you do for money. And believe me, you will get what you pay for.
You seem to be one of these people who seem to think holding health care hostage is acceptable. If you cant understand the difference between at cost and free you probably should not comment on anything.
Since the noble advocates of free speech flagged the other person's response, which was "all over Europe," I'll just repeat the same while adding Scandinavia, Australia, Canada, and Japan.
Can anyone name a place where a private insurance plan works (and by "works," I mean that it doesn't leave 46 million uninsured).
even throughout history there have been a few nonmodern succesful universal healthcare systems, when the middle east was in there golden age, around the time muhammed was in power and united the middle eastern tribes and countries, they built a universal healthcare system that worked fine.
Lol, when they are the only doctors left to take care of millions of people, they will think differently. Salaries will drop and the incentive for becoming a doctor will drop significantly. People spend a minimum of 11 years of training to become a doctor. 11!
More doctors means more hospitals means lower cost. Simple as that but due to government regulation whether valid or not they keep the quota of license doctors low keeping the price up.
The last doctor who spoke was right on the money. The government was the one who screwed up the system to start with. How are they going to fix it? Everyone is going to get less and pay more. EVERYONE.
most think doctors are gods but their just drug pushers i don't think they need to buy a new yatch every year maybe less money and more help would be the way to go or don't people health count
Based upon recent articles regarding Obama's misappropriation of funds designated for the Stimulus Plan, I have a hard time believing ANYthing he says. This president has done more harm to the unborn and potentially to the rights of physicians who wish to deny abortions on demand than anyone in history. One minute he's praying, while all the while he's PREYING on our tax dollars. We all should've "BOOED" in November when The Chosen One was trying to get elected. Don't believe a liar!
yes...it happened to me last year. I'm not going to bore you with details, but it was a three procedures that should have been one procedure....7,000 each surgery!
I think it will be worth it if the doctors are paid to keep people healthy then make money because they keep them sick. 85% of the death rate in this counrty is due from malpractice...85%! the system is broke we all can agree on that.
individual liberty? okay...whats your solution> I am so tired of the critics without a solution to this very serious problem. what would you like to see?we're going to be paying out $1 of every $5 we make to helth care if somethings not done. any ideas???
Single payer sounds good, too, along with a realistic private health care. But how do you regulate those huge private health insurers who are only looking at their dollar line?
I jumped for joy at news of the crash air france flight 447. I love watching the plane sink to its watery grave. I enjoy hearing the passengers screaming for help. The sound of drowning passengers gasping for air is music to my ear. The bottom of atlantic ocean is an awesome place to sleep on. The moment the jet broke up in midair must have been a kodak moment. I'm disappointed that the death toll is so low. A bunch of bodies floating on the atlantic ocean would've been an awesome sight.
Liberals who favor this crap: Dont come whining, once you have health care denied. Dont whine when someone you know-love is sentenced to a premature death sentence by some bureaucratic committee determining which care will, and which care wont be doled out.
Dont whine when youre told 4 months before you can that MRI, or 3 months for a CT-Scan or that the hip replacement you need will be at least 3 years down the road. Dont come whining to those of us who tried to stop this.

JJohn749 1 year ago
These 13 years of my life was dedicated to developing my mind so I could provide the best care possible. So how does our President describe my physician colleagues and I? He states that instead of doing what’s best for the patient, we look at reimbursements to decide patient care. He states we do unnecessary tonsillectomies for a “sore throat” to make money (youtube video: Obama- Doctors taking tonsils out for money).
JJohn749 1 year ago
As a doctor, I am extremely disappointed by President Obama’s statement that physicians perform unnecessary procedures/surgeries out of greed. My patients come first. When I made the decision to become a physician, I wanted to dedicate my time and life to providing the best and most compassionate care possible. After receiving a bachelors in science (4 years), I went to medical school (4 years) and residency (5 years).

If you have the money, buy insurance. If you don't have the money, then seek assistance, but don't make it impossible for those who have chronic conditions to give up their needed treatments for you. If you oppose having to get insurance then you're either selfish or illegal and you don't care.

It's very simple.
rwbthru150 2 years ago
@rwbthru150 If you truly believe that illegals aren't already at your table, then you naive. There is nothing in the bill that allows illegals to use our system and $. However, they show up at the ER and you pay anyhow. What you should be doing is working toward stopping them from coming here and making those here leave. But they should not stop us from reforming health care.

Japan:
spends 8% GDP,
Unlike the british Japan pays no taxes on all health care services,
unemployed you don't loose coverage you are transferred to community plan, Not "socialized medicine"
all HC serivces are private infact 80% hospitals are private,
premiums for families is $280 per month employers pays half
Life expectancy: 83 yrs
IMR: 2 per 1000 births.

Hey, TemplumVerum.... I AM a senior.
I have a pre-existing condition. If it weren't for Medicare, I wouldn't have insurance at all! HMO's don't "do" pre-existing.
True, Medicare doesn't cover everything, but my supplemental insurance covers anything it doesn't.
I can go to ANY doctor or hospital and receive the best treatment. Prescription costs are very reasonable.
I don't believe people should have to wait until they're disabled or 65 to receive decent medical care.
4Eleven47 2 years ago
Thank you- People on the right need to realize that medicare is made up of a pool of members over the age of 65. With a similar system that operated using a very large pool of healthier, younger (& older) contributors, the Vancouver doctor's concerns should be laid to rest. Medicare still runs more efficiently than private for-profit plans, and doctors themselves will tell you that these for-profit companies are what is preventing people from receiving the care they need while we pay the most.

True!!

The Obama plan hopes to offer a public option, it's called competition, the thing Republicans claim to support. It's what you have in a truly free market, you have choices, and if the people choose the public option the private Insurance companies will have to lower their prices to compete, or they go out of business. That's called a free market: what part of that do you not understand?

i dont think that they should get out of healhcare completely, they should regulate certain things, like pharmaceutical companys and docters, make it so that they dont way over price things, the pharmaceutical companys make over 1000 percent profit on some of their drugs and even more than that in some cases and docters often overcharge things, which is quite annoying in my opinion, there is a difference in making a profit and just plain ripping people off, therefore there should be regulation

They will say anything to keep you sick, and themselves rich.
elasatlaculos 2 years ago 3

IMPEACHBARRACK 2 years ago
Has anyone else noticed how most of Obama's critics have done nothing but cry socialism? I have yet to see anyone come up with another plan to get these 46 million uninsured on board. I really want to hear a discussion on how best to solve this health care crisis but all I hear are allegations of socialized medicine. What have the neocons done the past 8 years to address this problem?
prschuster 2 years ago 4
Here is a plan that the doctors have been proposing for about 20 years. Its called Tort Reform. 1 out of every 5 dollars spent on health care is to protect ourselves from the lawyers. If we had tort reform, billions of dollars would be saved. The problem is that the lawyers make the laws, and the lawyers are the ones who make money off suing doctors. So I guess that is just not a "viable solution".
ea1997 2 years ago
Hey - I want to walk around completely insulated from responsibility too. It won't help the health care system though.
elasatlaculos 2 years ago
Well, they helpfully called our attention to cost by starting a war of choice that has run a tab of $700 billion, right? Since the Republicans spent us into insolvency, maybe that will motivate Obama to draft the most fiscally responsible bill possible?
I don't know, brother. I'm just trying to be creative in response to your question.

Please don't hang the pro-rich GOP fuck up on the Democrats. We tried to stop it, but too many fearful lazy Americans helped the GOP steer us into the rocks.
elasatlaculos 2 years ago
My sarcasm might not have come across clearly - I was trying to facetiously suggest that the GOP helped to emphasize the importance of fiscal responsibility by their being completely wasteful (and criminal, in the case of Iraq). From the tenor of your comment, it sounds like we're relatively on the same page - that is, unless I'm misunderstanding you.
heteroglossiamerica 2 years ago
It's funny you mention the sarcasm thing. I too have run into this. Someone asked me who I voted for. I said well let's see, I'm a working class pro-choice Liberal who only supports necessary wars who believes religion has no place in government, BUT I voted for the GOP. He thought I was serious.
elasatlaculos 2 years ago
It's easy to believe that kind of thing, unfortunately, when you see many - e.g. those who have benefitted from unions, had children killed in Iraq, lost homes because of fraud resulting from massive deregulation, etc. - vote against their own interests because of black president/gun/abortion/gay anxiety.
It's weird to watch those who defended wiretaps, torture, Bush's tax cuts, & Iraq attack a stimulus plan, taxes on the rich, and health care as Marxist usurpings of "freedom." Almost surreal.
heteroglossiamerica 2 years ago
Working class Republicans are a living, breathing example of what happens when we don't tax churches and allow public education to go inadequately funded. Even after the destruction of Germany at the end of WW2 (a conflict won by the Liberal Democrats) many Germans still believed in Hitler and his insane agenda. So the fact that the Fox News crowd try to avoid responsibility for their failed agenda is not surprising.
elasatlaculos 2 years ago
I just read someone's comment a few minutes ago who was claiming that liberals are the type that would have supported slavery in the 18th and 19th centuries. Ah yes, clearly. That's why we elected a black president...
The degree of projection is genuinely frightening - the same people that advocated wiretapping, torture, illegal detentions, and the Patriot Act are now accusing liberals of fascism and destruction of the Constitution. But the slavery thing - brother needs a shrink.
heteroglossiamerica 2 years ago
The right wing has two types of members. The money grubbers, and the stupid. I used to say the rich and the stupid, but there are middle class who think if they can only shit on their neighbor enough, that will somehow make them rich. I don't like stupid people and I don't like greedy people. Therefore I am not a Republican.
elasatlaculos 2 years ago
Whenever a Republican is brought on a news station to talk about their ideas to fix health care, it's always,"smaller gov't, less spending,". Not a single one of them has a sound solution to this problem. It's like the Reagan administration brainwashed every GOP member 28 years ago. They're all like broken records. lol One of their criticisms of Obama's plan is long wait times for treatment. Build more hospitals?
abola2121 2 years ago
So you've noticed that too, abola. Republicans have no real alternative to the Democrat health care plan. I'm not even sure if Obama's ideas are flawless. I am only sure that there has never been an honest attempt by republicans to offer a viable alternative and if they were in power today they'd sit on their arses and let 47 million Americans continue to go uncovered. The Republican slogan is: "Let them eat tax cuts".
prschuster 2 years ago
47 million? maybe 20 if that 20 of that 40 is actually illegal aliens who dont infact pay taxes nor do they need to be here unless they went through the proper process you need to do some more reading on the subject
gamefan101 2 years ago
"maybe 20 ... of that 40 is actually illegal aliens who dont infact pay taxes..."
And if so do you still want to watch tens of millions of hard working Americans lose their homes and life's savings just because they needed to go to the hospital? I suppose they don't count and it's all OK as long as you aren't one of them. If you lost your job and health insurance and lost your home because of medical bills you couldn't pay I sure wouldn't care about you and your problems either.
prschuster 2 years ago
How about this for a fix. Turn the $92 bil/yr in Medicare fraud over to the Justice Dept to investigate, fine/jail the embezzelers of our tax money. Then overhaul the Medicare system to prevent it from happening again. Then take that $92 bil we save every year thereafter, and take out private catastrophic medical policies on every single of the 40 mil 'American without coverage'. Worst case scenario you'd STILL have $18.1 bil/yr leftover after covering all their deductibles. Dems: do the math.
mrrepublican1234 2 years ago
Dems can't do math!!!!! don't you understand that yet? Just look at Obama's policies, you'll realize they can't even add and subtract, let alone "higher math" like what you are suggesting!!

Have you ever had to wait for healthcare? have you ever had to watch a loved one die because they couldn't get a procedure? My friend's father DIED because he lived in England, (which has socialistic care) because he had to wait to have a heart bypass surgery for several months. No, thanks, I would rather keep the current system (that denies care to no one!), then face the crap others do in Canada, England, etc.

you realize that its not entirely socialized right? you dont have to use government healthcare, you can stay with a private healthcare company if you want
saxbeast4 2 years ago
Only until your employer realizes it will be cheaper to go on the public option. If your policy changes at all--pregnancy, marriage, whatever, it ends and you go on the public option.

they wont be aloud too, because why would they switch if you can do it yourself?, one the majority of the unions would not allow this and two im pretty sure that they arent aloud to according to the policy, i belive its only allowd to individuals and cant be used as a scapegoat by corperations and what not
saxbeast4 2 years ago
They will switch because the gov't will TAX them if they are not on the public option. You will also be fined if you don't have certain coverage. You, as an average citizen, will be fined by your gov't for not having the care they want!
Go to a neutral website and read the bill for yourself. No one in Congress is reading it, so we the people need to educate ourselves.

coolmom9 2 years ago
you have clearly misinterpreted it then, it pretty clearly states that the employer, will be given a surtax if the healthcare doesnt meet the standard, and this only applies to employers whos annual income is over 350,000 dollars. and you wont be fined for not having it, you just still have to pay the tax for it, which means you should probably just get the public healthcare since your allready paying for it, this makes sure everyone gets healthcare, it you have a link apposing this plz post.
saxbeast4 2 years ago
Okay, so call it a tax or a fine. It is still an amount of money you have to pay because you don't have the kind/amount of insurance that the gov't wants you to have. and it clearly states that if your insurance situation changes, you will have to go on the public option.
coolmom9 2 years ago
well a tax is not a fine, two very different things, and its not an extra tax because you dont have health insurace, its a tax that everyone would have to pay regardless of whether or not they have public, private, or no health insurence, its for everyone, not just people without it. what do you mean if your insurence situation has changed, and if you have a link to direct quotes from the bill that go with what your saying please post, i want to read them, ty
saxbeast4 2 years ago
Anytime the gov't takes money from people because of something the gov't mandated people HAVE to have, whether it's a fine or a tax, it is wrong.
Go to stoptheobaminationsdotcom for more info.
coolmom9 2 years ago
lol, but that argument goes against all taxes then, what if i said that i dont give a damn about the streets and sidewalks therefore i shouldnt have to pay taxes for it, does that mean that dont have to, no, i still have to, so your argument would only work if we got to choose where are tax money went, but we dont so your argument doesnt work, and that doesnt sound like a very neutral website but ill check it out anyways, thanks
saxbeast4 2 years ago
That's my whole premise--forcing me to pay taxes for streets and sidewalks is wrong--if I want good streets, I'll move to a town who's citizens provide them.
Personally, I don't mind paying for streets, I use them everyday. Why should I have to pay a tax if I chose not to have health care? That is basically a punishment to get me to do what the gov't wants.
You never said it had to be a "neutral" site.
coolmom9 2 years ago
one, we as citizens do provide the streets indirectly via taxes, and if you moved to a town who did it without taxes it would still be socialism, and you pay taxes for plenty of things you dont use everyday
and you said to visit a neutral site, not me, but im not complaining, doesnt really matter to me
saxbeast4 2 years ago
citizens providing things for their own towns is not socialism. Yes, unfortunately, I do pay taxes for many things everyday that I don't use. That is why I am against adding another massive one to the very long list.
I said visit a neutral site. You opted to let me recommend one--so I did. I never said it was a neutral site.
coolmom9 2 years ago
actually citizens of a town providing things for there town collectively is more socialistic than just paying taxes for stuff, and it wouldnt be a massive tax, especially if he gets out of the middle east in a hurry, then it will cost even less
saxbeast4 2 years ago
Who do you think provides the scurity and laws, and people who enfoce the law to even allow you to live without being mugged or robbed... it is governmnet institutions, such as police courts etc..
who educates you, so you can read and write? Gov institutions called education.
if the government is elected, than that means YOU have provided these things for yourself, via your vote.
You empower yourself via democracy
markgg1 2 years ago
So are you suggesting we have no government at all? a sort of anarcho-capitalist society (like somalia)?
markgg1 2 years ago
why should I have to move to another town?
I demand that my local council makes my streets nice and easy to walk on, and clean. I demand this via my vote... if they piss me off, ill vote for the other team
this is how democracy works, and is similar to market principles..
And why on earth would you choose not to have health care? If you were hit by a bus, im certain you would want healthcare? or maybe not?
markgg1 2 years ago
yes but you live in a nation that privdes you wiht all sorts of services... who on earth do you think pays for this? you do.. via tax.
Why cant you see, that you vote for them... the government is an extension of 'you'... they are there to fight for you against other entities, such as criminals, corporations, etc etc.... the heath and safety law thta tells your employer they cant leave wires hanging out of walls, comes from the government..
do you really take this so much for granted?
markgg1 2 years ago
I think Obama needs to slow down. I don't think enough research and planning are being put into some of the decisions he is making. He ran on a platform of change but he has four years to initiate these reforms. So what is the big rush? Making changes without thorough investigation could be worse than doing nothing at all. Haste makes waste.

I am merely placing blame

were blame is due. In the case of socialized health care, that blame falls SQUARELY on you and your socialist comrades.

THESE ARE NUMBERS OF USA DEATHS PER YEAR BY CAUSE:
12,000 -- unnecessary surgery
7,000 -- medication errors in hospitals
20,000 -- other errors in hospitals
80,000 -- infections in hospitals
106,000 -- non-error, negative effects of drugs
These total to 225,000 deaths per year from iatrogenic causes!
