Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-B-A­-Start was the 30-life code for the NES game Contra. It's a code upon which most people know who have played Contra.

VRC, MMC5, N106 and FME chips are all Memory Management Controllers. They were the chips which also projected the music and sounds, in this case the "noise channel, "in NES and other game consoles. Hope that helped.
