had this album on 8 track. For anyone who has no idea what that is, it's a Hi-Fidelity cassette with 8 audio tracks instead of the usual two. This meant the cassette was also like a cigar box. They were good but clunky and never really took off.
@jamesedwardtheobald -- Wow!! Who pissed in your Cornflakes? Take a Happy pill & listen to "Mr Blue Sky" & grab a perky drink to lift your spirits some... Nostalgia is remembering fondly all that has gone before...& what we love. Poop in your own corner...not mine. Thank-you!
@dustbowl424 Should we go get some teenagers and find out? But your right, we were in such a hurry to grow up because we thought we were missing out on something and when someone told us, "Enjoy it while you can", we just would'nt listen. Hindsight is 20/20 but in this case, it would have taken all the fun out of it.**note: I grew up in San Diego aka: swab city (no disrespect navy guys) and 20 min from mexico. For weed, that was a good place to be:)
Not only is this great music, but for those of us who were around when this band began, it holds a great many memories of times when we held so many hopes and dreams, we had no major responsiblities and the world was ours for the picking. We also believed nothing bad could ever happen in our lives. Those youthful memories happen but once in a lifetime and this music holds those incredible memories and that is one powerful bond. No wonder we love this music so much.
@Msdistarr Perfectly said..I absolutely could listen to ELO all day long. They take me back to a time when life was so stress free and life was fun to live..At least we still have the music..Thanks for the music Jeff Lynne and ELO.
@lenapaco I really believe that there is that bond between memories & the music and it being one of the best times of our lives. Thats why the instant we hear the music, poof!, we travel back 25+ years. Not to be debby downer, but I think it's a 2 edged sword. What If your life REALLY didn't meet your expectations and sucked, it would be hard to listen to this music cuz you would go back those 25 years, compare dreams to current reality and shit, you'd want to go buy a gun. What do you think?
@Msdistarr I think it would be sadder without the music regardless of how our lives turned out..The music reminds us of the hopes and dreams we once had and how good it made us and still makes us feel..That's the key, it makes us feel, and as long as we keep feeling, it's better than feeling numb. Then you're in trouble..For me personally, music is my savior..
@lenapaco Just so you know, I totally agree and was looking at what could be the flip side of those memories. Like you, music is my savior. My husband died suddenly and unexpectedly and I didn't handle it well, to put it mildley. We didn't have kids so I couldn't find anything to keep me going and the anxiety was unbearable. The only place I could find an ounce of peace was under a set of headphones with music. Not only does it retain our wonderful memories but it helps us to heal.
@Msdistarr Hello again..So sorry for what you've been through, now i understand that remark about the gun..I truly hope that the music can continue to be a great source of comfort and inspiration for you..Had it not been for music, i don't think i would be here today..Losing someone you love is the most hardest thing in this world, and for me music is what got me through..Take care and please feel free to keep in touch..Lena

What a great song,....1975,....Cant Get It Out Of My Head,..ELO,....Peaked at# 9 on the Billboard 100 Chart in the spring of 1975,....My 2nd favorite ELO song
Thanks, same to you; I think I'll go listen to some REO Speedwagon (but, hey, don't tell anybody, but I'm kind of a closet Katy Perry fan too lol!). See ya!
Well, just the wife, but that's good (plus 2 daughters and 4 grandkids, which is great, so I guess things aren't all bad today lol). Actually, I guess "my favorite year" (ironically the same year the movie came out, and it's still one of my favories) would have to be 1982, when I was 18. I've managed to keep 4 very good freinds from those years, we just had dinner together a couple of weeks ago.
Oh, sure, my wife had an Impala convertable, I had a lava lamp (of course we were both teenagers and didn't know each other yet); everything seemed a little more real to me then, and little more visceral (and a lot more "soulful").
ELO are simply one of the best bands to exist. They're unique sound is incredible and completely ground breaking. So much better than the absolute shit that gets played nowadays, I'm 18 and for me, ELO is still where it's at.
Always liked this song. Its mesmerizing in the beginning. When I here all ELO songs is brings me back to my child hood. I wish I had a time machine. Do you have roll over Beethoven. As a child that was one of my favorites.
Ah, the good ol' days; hair that was a nice length, jeans that actually fit the person wearing them, no "soulja boy"; man, I've really got to get back to work on that time machine!
Oh, mercy, you make me feel so old! My youngest daughter was born in 1992. Seriously, though, I'm glad you like some of the music from the 70s (and 80s), especially ELO. If I could make some other music suggestions, I'd say try Supertramp (their sound is similar to ELO's), Styx, and ABBA (if you're not already familiar with all of these). I sure wish my daughter appreciated music like this; she even gets mad when I start singing in the car! lol
When I sang this song in Karaoke a while back , it was the first standing ovation I ever got, and I had many of the 21 somethings that were there asking me the name of this song, This music is stuff they need to get into, becauseit is pure and beautiful and true lyrics, This song always makes me just want to sing it with so much emotion just like ELO did.
ELO was so good. I loved everything they ever recorded and always will; They had songs for different moods. Strange Magic is probably my favorite, but not by much.
Perfect theme song for my neurotic mind. I just can't stop thinking about things and then this song literally starts playing in my head and then I can't get IT out of my mind.
Beautiful song. This band is just brilliant! I cannot believe how old this music is now. It feels like it was just 10 years ago when this came out (at the most), but I know better. If I'm not mistaken, it was the late 70's, maybe very early 80's. I was in my late teens or early 20's. Oh god, the memories!!
This song is one of ELO's very best tunes. it's soft and a pleasant listen, without ever losing the rock that makes it roll. This song is pure magic with it's wonderful arrangement, strings background, awesome lyrics and the silver tongue that is voice of Jeff Lynn. No one writes songs like this anymore.

This album reminds me so much of being in California in the late 70s. Everyone wanted to borrow this album, especially all of the guys that belonged to the car club called The Mini Modifieds of Southern California. Man do i Ever hate these Cold winters of Michigan and i plan to get back out there before too long!
Although ELO had released albums before Eldorado. This song was my introduction to the group back in 1974.
Eldorado was a common sight amongst record collections in and around your typical neighborhood of friends back then. Just as common in fact as Dark Side of the Moon and believe it or not... Brain Salad Surgery.
This was ELO's first major hit in the U.S., reaching #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in March 1975. It's such a beautiful song with amazing instrumentation that very well demonstrates the unique sound that can only come from ELO.
Thank you so much for sharing this great classic gem with us, happydude!
