  • Not knowing what is in the First Amendment is ridiculous for a politician, but to believe in creationism is just ridiculous as a 21st century human. The fact in America you can openly state you believe in creationism on a stage like that and still be taken seriously is shocking.

  • she made me LOL

  • Candidates for leadership positions should have to take a quiz on the contents of the Constitution like schoolchildren do. This is embarrassing.

  • First Amendment aside, "intelligent design" (creationism) isn't science.

  • Its funny though, on average, I am willing to bet that the people laughing also don't know what the constitution says. Most Americans don't.

  • Please tell me that this douche bag will disappear one day and we will never hear from/about her again?!

  • This clip is mistitled. It should be "O'Donnell Question Elicits Incredulous Laughs."

Also, gotta love that statement from her campaign people... yup. Try covering THAT one up, fellas!

  • It might help the TEa Party if their canidates were not all raving nutcases.

  • how funny 1 politician says you delt with criminals then the other with out answering says and you did the same they are all crap

  • Not so much gasps as laughs, no?

  • The 1st amendment says Congress may not limit speech, or religion, or the press

    .

And yet Congress does that all the time when they tell students they can not pray in school. Or read a Bible in school. And so on and so on. If Congress said "You may not speak your mind," or "You may not publish a newspaper in school," people would be up in arms. But outlawing prayer... nobody objects

    .

Congress has no authority to limit any of these 3 activities

    .

  • @electrictroy2010 You dumbshit. You CAN pray: you CAN'T make everyone pray because that's not what they all believe.

You CAN read your bible, on your own time. You CAN'T make non-christians read it, so you can't tell all students to read a Bible.

You can't make limit these other studen't religions by forcing yours on them. That's all the constitution says.

  • @electrictroy2010

    1. You can still pray at school. I guess you're talking about not being able to force students to pray at school, which would be discrimination against all other religions and therefore not allowed.

    2. You can read a Bible in school, unless your talking about teachers forcing students to read the Bible in school, which would be discrimination against all other religions and therefore not allowed.

  • @electrictroy2010 prayer in school has been used to discriminate against non-christians. This 'god given right' was used by a college graduate to condemn all unbelievers to hell. Would you be ok with a muslim graduation prayer, or a muslim national prayer?

  • She's right.

  • Most observers thought Gerald Ford lost to Carter because he mistakenly said Poland was not communist. It seems facts matter less in the internet age. If you're running for office and you make unfactual statements, you should be called on it. That is the media's first reponsibility; to let the public know when they're being fed a line of crap.

  • Wow...dumb.

  • Heh...I think I nearly threw up in my mouth when O'Donnell asked that....AND I'M A CONSERVATIVE!

  • She´s typical of the Reich Wing leadership. Sarah Palin, Sharon Angle, Ron Paul, Dan Quayle, Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, Michelle Bachmann, ... the list of drooling idiots on the right is substantial.

But, there are still even dumber Americans. Those who support these idiots.

  • 1:30, damn, Marco Rubio has huge ears.

  • Where were those "gasps"?? Another example of our sensationalistic journalism. Journalism with an agenda.

  • @SeaWolfe59, lmao coming from a conservative commenting on a pro liberal video, agenda much? hypocrite much?

  • @necessaryevil101

Agenda? Yes, an agenda to point out the truth. There were no gasps. Just laughter. But CBS claimed there were gasps in order to sell more of its left-wing-biased news - talk about an agenda. And I must say, its fascinating that you called it a "pro liberal video". Apparantly you didnt realized it was CBS. If not, then you verify what many Conservatives already know - CBS is just another organ of the Democrat party.

  • @SeaWolfe59, oh of course, its a war now, everyone knows who's in who's pocket :)

  • @necessaryevil101

Everyone? No. Only a minority sees it all for what it is.

  • @SeaWolfe59, thats the beauty of it :)

  • @SeaWolfe59 It was about as audible as gasps in a crowd get, with a little bit of laughter on top. 0:43

  • @Bobstew68

No gasps. Just laughter. The gasps are just air passing from your left ear to your right ear.

  • Yes, it is in the first amendment... Yes. Stop questioning people who are smarter and more informed that you, you stupid bitch.

  • Nancy Cordes is HOT!!!

  • To be fair to her "establishment" has four syllables. That's really hard.

  • There is no way around it, this woman is dumb as a stump. I cant believe the Republican Party supports her. She is bad for democracy, let alone the Republican Party.

  • @EarlofCrawford They DON'T support her... this video was from 2008 not the present

    .

  • They vote for this dumb ass bitch simply because she's religious nut cakes just like the ones who voted for her and yet 7 states out of 50, atheists CAN NOT run for any office?

  • I can't believe that many people never read the Constitution

  • She was being sarcastic.SHEESH!

  • @77lincolnmark5

\no, she was not being sarcastic.

separation of church and state does not ever appear in the

constitution, bill of rights, or Declaration of independence.

    she was absolutely right.

  • @ForTheRepubl1c I should have been clearer.I was referring to the fact that she was pretty much saying 'I don't see it,where do you see it?'What bugs me about this whole mess was the attitude that she stepped in without even bothering to read the Constitution before the debate. What also bugged me was the fact that alot of the people who was laughing at her was in fact law students. On a seperate note,I would like to thank you for not posting the usual 'Why defend her? She's an idiot!' post.

  • u.s. should submit itself under vatican rule.

    godless greedy parasites

  • @Darusdei the pope is a fucking charleton and you are a tool.

  • @mkrulic517439 and thinking i'm dead serious makes you a ?

  • @Darusdei I see, seperation of church and state would prohibit this. you are using sarcasim to make your point. my blunder.

  • I attended private school, these people have the EXACT same mindset as her. They completely refuse to acknowledge that piece of the 1st Amendment, and that those words aren't meant to establish a separation.

  • holy fuck jesus in the ass are you americans dumb :) I bet even a crocaduck knows the first amendment

  • It makes me sad these people are our representatives.

  • She is an airhead. no wait, it is a vacuum and allows no air inside. there is just a big black hole of eternal emptiness

  • she doesnt explain herself very well. there is a seperation of church and state when it comes to writing legislation. i think that might have been her arguement but she made herself look like a complete idiot with the way she presented it.

  • Serously, what Christine is arguing is her interpretation of the First Amendment (vs. Mr. Coons'), rather than expressing wonder at the the First Amendment says.

  • THE CURRENCY should be exposed.

  • LEFTISTS

    ARE

    THE

    THEOCRATS

  • You bunch of LIBERAL chicken nuggets! She was RIGHT! The EXACT PHRASE "the separation of church and state" does NOT, let me reiterate, does NOT appear in the constitution! I KNOW this is a SHOCK to you bunch of Richard Dawkins worshipers, but do any of you actually READ the constitution?

  • @prophetbyronmotley Congress shall make no law establishing religion, or prohibiting. Thats what it says u idiot. It doesn't say separation of church and state. Thats how that quote is interpreted by Thomas Jefferson in his famous letters. So yes it is in the constitution.

  • @TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 "It doesn't say separation of church and state." That was the POINT of Christine's point! That EXACT PHRASE is NOT in the constitution, just like the taco meat sold at Taco Bell is NOT pure beef! Taco Bell CLAIMS their tacos are "pure beef," but if you look at the INGREDIENTS you can see that that's NOT true! If you read the INGREDIENTS of the constitution, the MISSING INGREDIENT is the phrase is "separation and state."

  • @ucandrinkmytea dude, u and i both know that thats not what she meant. She clearly didnt know. The constitution doesn't say it word for word. Congress shall make no establishment of religion. The interpretation of that is separation of church and state.

  • @TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 What is going on is an attempt at making ALL conservative republicans look stupid by the SATANIC liberal mass media! Yes I said "satanic" in describing the mass media because their story telling is one sided! It's almost ALWAYS pro liberal democrat and that's BULLSHIT! They are supposed to be HONEST! Christine's answer is a CLASSIC illustration of this BLATANT DISTORTION of the truth! All conservatives are NOT bad, NOR are all liberals good! continued...

  • @ucandrinkmytea Dude christine o donnel is making republicans look bad. U really want a woman who started an anti masterbation pact, creationism in science class??? Come on dude. Its not even about republican or democrat anymore. Its just getting plain stupid. I'm a pretty conservative oriented guy, but things have been goin downhill for the right. But hey its not just the right. Obama hasn't done shit.

  • @TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 Yes! I want creationism in the classroom! 1 MILLION PERCENT yes! Having faith does NOT, let me reiterate, having faith does NOT diminish the educational quality of science! If anything, creationism IMPROVES the quality of science because Darwinism, which is a mythical theory at best; propaganda at worst is removed. The Bible DOES SPEAK against lust and masturbation promotes LUST! The best way to keep teen pregnancy rates low is to promote celibacy.

  • @ucandrinkmytea This is wrong. U don't know it because your a born again christian and u believe it 100%. U demonstrated that when u said darwinism is a mystical theory. A mystical theory that 93% of the scientists in the world support. It has been verified and observed by scientists hundreds of times. So how ignorant of u to say that its mystical compared to creationism. I have nothing against u believing in god. I think that is great, but there is nothing scientific about Genesis.

  • @TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 Jehovah God has made EVERYTHING so wonderfully complex, there is ENOUGH to study WITHOUT adding lies, propaganda and bulls*it! Evolution has NOT, let me reiterate, evolution has NOT been proven! You have drawings of evolution scales and of course evolution is LITTERED with outright frauds like "Piltdown Man," which was just an orangutan's jaw bone GRAFTED to a human skull.

  • @ucandrinkmytea oh my god your right. Believing a woman being made out of a mans rib and a talking snake, and a holy spirit who has no beginning or end is so much more teachable in science than evolution. Because evolution is obviously a lie to piss off christians. give me a break. Obviously your a bigot who has never even learned about evolution. Can't u just admit that science and its theories whether its true or false, should stick in science, and religion should stick in church.

  • @TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 Yea, because "stuff making explosions" and "amino acid soup" are so much more believable! Give me a break!

  • @ucandrinkmytea what?? whatever your clearly a bigot. I'll be happy to talk to u about this once you have done some research.

  • @TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 Oh, and that's supposed to shame me? Look, unlike YOU, I know money does NOT grow on trees and excessive money printing and spending are BAD financial policy! If EITHER party is loaded with STUPID PEOPLE, it's democrats! YOU are the group who NEVER, EVER want to control spending! The states in the most trouble are DEMOCRAT-CONTROLLED, Arizona would be in good shape except LIBERAL DEMOCRATS will NOT allow Arizona to control it's OWN BORDER, with Obama leading the charge!

  • @ucandrinkmytea i'm a social conservative. Im just talking about creationism. I agree with u on how obama sucks. Nevada is the most broke country in the u.s., but it doesn't have legal hookers. Its illegal. i think your problem is that your to opinionated. Thats why people dont take the tea party members seriously. Its not much of obama s policy's, its the federal banks of america and wall street. Obama is nothing but a puppet for congress. He was too green for office, he kissed a lot of ass.

  • @TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 Actually prostitution in Nevada IS legal! Just in rural areas and small towns, but it's is illegal in Reno, Carson City and Las Vegas! Google it if you don't believe me!

  • @TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 PS: I'm black! Liberal democrat policies have been at work largely unchecked in black districts around the USA for over 60 years and what has resulted is white flight, closed businesses, drug trafficking, gang banging and PITIFUL schools that graduate 50% of their alum, and half of them can't hardly READ!

People like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have helped keep the open wounds of slavery and Jim Crow from healing so they can PROFIT from pain! This is why I'm Tea Party!

  • @prophetbyronmotley PS: I'm White! And right on; I couldn't agree with you more! If I were Black, I'd be very resentful at what the liberal Democrats (and liberal mainstream Republicans, e.g., W., McCain et al., have done to Black America (just as I am indeed extremely resentful at what this same crowd has done to White America!). 'Upwardly mobile' Americans of all colors are right-wing, hardcore Tea Party and sick of leftism, from either party!

  • @TiCkToCkMaRiO1473 California and Illinois are almost DEAD BROKE! New York is NOT far behind! How can a state like Nevada, where it's wall to wall casinos and LEGAL HOOKERS be ALMOST BROKE? But Nevada is controlled be DEMOCRATS! Only DEMOCRATS can run a MONEY MACHINE like Nevada nearly OUT OF MONEY! Playing the race card simply because I'm a Tea Party person is PATHETIC! Your party cannot accept the fact that their POLICIES have UTTERLY FAILED!

  • @ucandrinkmytea It's obvious that many people are being misled by the mass media and that's a DAMN SHAME! How would anyone feel if they went before a judge, and while the judge listened to the prosecution, he refused to listen to the defense? That's what's going on and I'm being honest with you! Christine answered the question honestly when stating that EXACT PHRASE is NOT in the constitution! Also what is going on is the removal of God from EVERYTHING without consulting EVERYBODY!

  • That wasn't gasps .. that was laughter.

  • well the words separation of church and state are not in the first amendment. so I sont see what the issue is here, other than the ignorance of coons who seems to think that it is in the first amendment.

  • @slickbtk "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"

It's in the first line. Of the 1st admenment.

That's willful ignorance. You have to go out of your way to not know shit like that.

  • @DrePants44 yes and the words separation of church and state are not in the first amendment. so whats your point?

  • At what point in our history did looks become more important than intelligence in politics for many people?

  • @DillonDee1

Probably when TV became widespread, I.E. Kennedy. Although Nixon ended up being a fucking nutter anyway.

  • @DillonDee It started with the dinosors , maybe it was the republicans, or maybe demograghics. The list goes on. and on and on and on. just kidding, which is not to put down kids in general, it is a good looking animal.

  • @DillonDee1 Since the invention of film

  • @DillonDee1 2 words...Sarah Palin.

  • @DillonDee1 When debates became televised.

  • @DillonDee1,

It started with the invention of the photograph, but it really took off with the rise of television.

  • @DillonDee1 That's easy. The advent of television.

  • @DillonDee1 When the T.V. was invented.

  • @DillonDee1 Kennedy.. next question.

  • @jacksawild -- As far as intelligence goes, I wouldnt put JFK in the class with Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson & James Madison, and no doubt JFK got votes based on looks, but I still wouldnt put O"Donnell in JFK's class either.

  • @DillonDee1 I think JFK is a special case. He was put there by the public relations people but he also went against them once there a certain amount (tried to dismantle the CIA). More than most have since, anyway. I think it's also easy to get carried away by the perception of him after he was shot. We have the same phenomena with Princess Diana in this country. Suddenly she's a saint but before she died, she was fairly questionable.

  • @jacksawild - agree - JFK stilll ranks as the most popular modern-day x-president followed by Clinton, then Reagan.

Baby Bush rabks as the worst - & it has nothing to do with looks.

  • @DillonDee1 During the Nixon/Kennedy election. These were the first televised presidential debates and those who viewed on TV said Kennedy won while those who listened on the radio said Nixon was the winner. People largely concluded it was because Nixon looked older and less attractive than Kennedy. From this point forward the political system became more and more a fashion show.

  • @wkrepelin

Yes, that's true, however I would argue that FDR suffered the problem first. The debilitating affects of his illness were hidden from The People by not photographing or filming him below his chest line. It was thought that the public would be frightened &/or lose confidence in him were they to see him in a wheelchair.

I would argue that FDR's presidency was the first time we really witnessed in America that looks mean more than ability.

  • @DillonDee1 theres always been stupid people and democratic governments have existed in forms of sorts for 1000s years so guess about that.

  • @DillonDee1

It's not new. It's always been that way.

  • @supowit --you really think someone like Taft or Lincoln were elected on looks?

  • @DillonDee1

I correct myself. Since the evolution of information technology, it has been that way.

  • "...that's in the first amendment?"

Ummm, no she was not clarifying wording; she was completely clueless as the 1st says.

  • Sure.... let's elect an idiot who doesn't know what the FIRST Amendment says. Perfect. Maybe she and Palin could run together for the presidency, and I can move to ..... well, anywhere but here....

  • This woman is SO in need of an orgasm..... Volunteers?

  • tinyurl(dot)com/cucrbu

That is a link to the full text of the Constitution. As much as it pains me to have to ask this question, I must do it. Where are the words "Seperation of Church and State?" No, that's not rhetorical, and I don't want a flippant "In the First Ammendment" response. Actually read the thing, and then answer.

  • @CaitiffFTW ask a supreme Ct. justice where it is, they will tell you. CLUE: in the first amendement. Where are the words "own and fire a gun"? It sure would be fucked up if all we could do was Keep and Bear arms. don't be a douche.

  • @Rushtrdamus Let's see.... Appeal to authority: Check. Complete disregard for part of the request being answered: Check. Quick change of topic: Check. complete misunderstand of the topic he changed to: Check. Insult at the end: Check.

Okay, well, it seems that you've gotten the entire list for what to do when you have no idea what your talking about down. Good job.

  • @CaitiffFTW Hahahahaha Please asshole, Do the words Separatio of church and stae exist in the constitution? No, and they don't have to, and you know it. It's called interpretaion and has existed since BEFORE our founding. Pick up a history book and read it. Hint: the Bible ain't history. If you can read, you will find that our SC has ruled that "A wall of separation" exists. History and the facts are on my side, dipshit. So, FUCK OFF.

  • @Rushtrdamus That's cute. Bringing up the Bible to an atheist. And, that extra insult, brilliant. And, the grammar and punctuation, man, those really drive the point home. Makes me swoon. Really.

I don't need a history book. I have the Constitution. And, the Constitution, you know, that thing being asked about, doesn't actually contain the words that are being asked about. Interpretation doesn't matter, because that's not what was asked. Exactly why is that do difficult for you to understand?

  • @CaitiffFTW But, even though I don't believe in God, I would be remiss if I didn't point out that the Bible has been more influential to the history of the world than any single compiled work of literature. Given the sheer volume of people who have based their lives, and in many cases, governments, on this book, it is the highest of historical blindness to claim that it has no historical significance. Like it or not, the Bible is history, because of the history produced in its name.

  • @CaitiffFTW Again, limit the argument to literature. Smooth, but not smooth enough. Words have meaning, asshole. Also, if you see what % of us are Christian today verses say, a hundred tears ago, you;ll see that the bibles importance is fading fast. BTW, some made the same claim about Mein Kampf. History because of the history produced in it's name????? Hello Harry Potter, antichrist. hahahahahaha Quick question, Atheist. Is any part of the Bible true?

  • @CaitiffFTW "I don't need a history book. I have the Constitution" Hahahahaha That;s going in th vault of all-time stupid statements. Cause the constitution is SOOOOO cut and dry. LOL Tell the SC that interpretation doesn't matter, moron.

Believe me dipshit, I KNEW exactly what you were asking. Like all idiots, you wanted to define the aregument. Although the actual words aren't in it, they are part of our law. And, since we are ruled by law, guess what, Trig?

  • @CaitiffFTW Tell you what. Put on a blindfold, and plug your ears with your fingers. That way, that darned reality won't get in the way of your perfect world. Why is it that you retards deny the way life is in favor of what you WANT it to be? Join us in the real world. It may not be what you want, but it is real.

  • @Rushtrdamus Wow. I didn't expect that I would have such an easy time breaking someone's brain on this topic. Seriously, an atheist defended Christine O'Donnell to the point that the opposition went from mildly coherant to babbling insults like a complete moron.

But, let me tell you this about the real world. Not everyone agrees with you. And, bitching about it isn't going to help your cause. And, frankly, I'm done wasting my time on this guy.

  • @CaitiffFTW Don't flatter yourself, I curse at all retards. If your argument had any merit at all, I'd treat you with at least some respect.

No shit? You dumbasses didn't agree with Gravity at first either, did that make you less wrong?

" I'm done wasting my time on this guy." Translation: Git while the gettins good.

    NEXT!

  • I also weep for Florida.

  • I'm going to be sick, I weep for Delware.

  • Ironically she is a product of 30 years of mainly Republican cutbacks in education and programs that support an educated civil society - something essential for a democracy.

  • @VanceJoudrey very true, sir or madam. we are reaping what we have allowed the republicans to do to us.

  • Quoting O'donnell: "After that debate my team and I we were literally high fiving each other thinking that we had exposed he doesn't know the First Amendment, and then when we read the reports that said the opposite we were all like 'what?'"

This is so hilarious. Just as this ditsy dingbat thought the laughter she heard when she made this gaffe was the audience laughing with her instead of at, her whole debate team was thinking the very same thing.

A frighteningly arrogant lot of idiots.

  • That blows my mind.

She says she's all about the constitution yet she's never even read the thing.

    So bizarre

  • the lack of intellect among a minority of Americans is breath-taking. COD was arguing about something anyone who graduated high school already knew, there is separation of church and state and yes, the words aren't directly spelled out in the 1st amendment but the sentence "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" is quite clear and has been clarified further over and over since then. Context is a word missing from most idiot's limited vocabulary.

  • @dubbleplusgood I wouldn't worry about it. There's no way in hell that any Tea party candidate will get elected. And even if they do, the oversight and scrutiny put on them will make any significant policy of their ineffective.

  • How in the HELL did that bimbo make it as far as she has gotten? Please if you have the chance to vote for this woman pleas do all us a favor and vote for the libertarian on the ballot dems or Rs will only do what they have been doing all along bankrupt the country.

  • @cdltpx it's not only her, there are loads of these folks running for office; yet, some folks still vote for them! WHY?!!! WHY?!! because they are angry that the government allowed them to be screwed over by the fat cats and get away with it, and maybe racisim.

  • @goldenthoth She sounded like someone that got caught on The tonight show you know where they go out on the streets asking questions that everyone should know? Jay Walking? It is one thing to get caught claim ignorance and be done with what she did was out right lied and she is going to get caught again. Vote Libertarian they want to reduce government abolish the IRS restore constitutional values.

  • @cdltpx That's an insult to Leno's street interviewees.

  • @Capt777harris She is about par with them and we don't need par we have enough yes men in the seats already big business tells them what they want like they were buying a sandwich at subway.

  • @cdltpx ur right there.

  • The W OR D S in our Constitution do NOT say that there is a S E P A R A T I O N of church and state. It says that the US Government will not be involved with religion..Well..neither will, HOWEVER, I have beliefs that allow me to exercise my rights as a free American to express my religious beliefs with or without my Government.

  • @horseman1953

Technically, that's what Jefferson had in mind. He used that phrase to describe the 1st Amendment to assure a group of religious minorities that their rights would also be protected under federal law.

Religious ideals, teachings, and other factors should in no way influence anything in connection to the U.S. Government, including public schooling and election eligibility, etc. We should not be banning a mosque on Ground Zero.

Christine O'Donnell should NOT be elected.

  • LOL God Bless this woman!!

  • Kaffee: Corporal would you open this book up to the part that says that where the mess hall is.

Cpl. Barnes: Well, Lt Kaffee, that's not in the book either, sir.

Kaffee: You mean to say the entire time you've been at Gitmo you've never had a meal?

Cpl. Barnes: No, sir. Three squares a day, sir.

Kaffee: Well, I don't understand. How did you know where the mess hall was if it wasn't in this book?

Cpl. Barnes: I guess I just followed the crowd at chow time, sir.
