  • yeah awesome :D 5* wind turbine you made it? or you buy it??

  • ___ homemadewindturbine (dot) org ____ for more info and hundreds of videos.

  • ____ w w w diymagneticmotor com Go for FREE energy ~~~

  • Bravo,complimenti !

  • You should also out a solar panel on top of that..

  • it is funny

  • The props to heavy in my opinion.

  • if i get this how high must it be and also how much electricity can i save.

  • Autarky the only way to go with power generation. This vid shows it can be done for next to nothing.Unfortunately i would have to chop down all my trees or build a tower over 100ft tall.Think ill leave the trees and enjoy the log fire as its sustainable just useing all the limbs and dead trees on the forrest floor doing this helps in fire hazard reduction and i love the trees.

  • if only everyone would watch videos like this and start generating our own power...

  • People are sying strange things like dont build these things cause it using up the air and the wind wont blow correctly. These people are really retarded. Wind doesnt get used up or it will never slow it down. Wind will always blow no matter how many wind turbines are out there in the world.

  • is this the car generator ?

  • how does the weather effect the turbine? like rain and heat?

  • I love sitting in my backyard on an evening and letting the wind blow through my hair but when people like you are running these devils inventions and using up all the wind there's not a lot left for the likes of me... If it was upto me i would have these banned so that everyone can enjoy the wind instead of people stealing it to drive these!!

  • Are you fucken kidding ME!

  • Hahahahahah! I sincerely hope he's kidding.

  • @fingerspies - Hahahaha, ya gotta love it... This person is obviously goofing on you all...

  • @fingerspies Ya no that make alot of cents..your saying dont use the wind to make power that is clean.. but pump billions of tons of CO2 in to that wind that blows through your hair and all the polltents into your lungs fron the fossal instead????

  • @johnjeffrey100

I hate to poop on your party, but "billions of tons of CO2" is peanuts.

using rough calculations, (PSI) X (earths surface area in square inches) gives a total weight of all gasses in the atmosphere. the number is:

    5,810,862,500,000,000

a couple billion tons of Carbon Dioxide will just be good for those poor trees.

    cheers mate.

  • @fingerspies are u fuckin drunk

  • @fingerspies Are you kidding me????? As long as this Earth spins on it's axis there will be wind man! Plenty enough to blow your hair around and provide my house with efficient electricity. Geez!

  • Nice job on the turbine. I uploaded a video of my rooftop wind turbine we put on the house, go have a look if you are interested wind energy. My install of home wind turbines and solar panels at my house is in my videos, Subscribe to my channel if you like, I'll be posting more stuff. Thanks

  • I WANT!!

  • Looks perfect to me.

  • great turbine

  • You do nice work, keep it up.

  • yeah

  • No brushes, just magnets and wire and trailer hub. But for sure not a toy.

  • you need to get that baby up on a taller tower. the more constant winds at slightly higher altitudes will surprise you (think: the tops of trees lightly swaying even on a dead calm day)

  • The turbine your looking at is a axle flux generator the inventor of this style is Hugh Piggott it is open source now. U can build it from 200 watt to 1.5 kw.

It is not grid tie without alterations. It is about the most powerful turbine made and a simple design. Cost to make anywhere from 600.00 for a 200 watt to 1000.00 for the 1.5 kw u supply all labor. The tower should be about 5'' tower can cost as much as the turbine. I'm building another now many have been put in third world countries.

  • hi how many volts do you get out of it?

  • it's powerfull?how many watts can it produce? is very interesting see people procude your own energy.(sorry my english)

  • Your English is better than most of our Americans.

  • homemade windmill will cost 100 bucks... i have full instruction how to build...if anybody need

  • at what cost? lol

  • apparently 100 bucks

  • i love these videos and all but the owners never sign on to answer more questions. they always leave out what everyone asks for. watts and price!

  • probably his neighbors :) haha

  • will it make 1.5kw

  • You could put something like that up to power grow lamps.

Go green to grow green. ;)

  • bingo

  • @Lojikbom Oh, yeah man, with a sea of green. Make some green.

  • @Lojikbom grow lamps still use dangerous chemicals and im thinking the companie that make them dont use wind turbines. Grow outside in a greenhouse.

  • @Lojikbom Had same revelation when watching "The Colony". Built a huge windmill with an alternator, a shit ton of car batteries , a bunch of scrap metal, and a power head made of bicycle chains and gears. I was like : O

  • Looks like a Hugh Piggot design, correct? Nice job building it!

  • Please send me a link to a site that produces these.

How much did you pay for it?

  • That's pretty awesome

  • woot. so exciting.

o well anywai nice turbine its better than mine. o wait i dont have one. :P

  • How's the performance of the turbine? Mine's almost done and I'm not sure what to expect. HAve you calculated the watt-hour produced?

  • It depends 100% on where you put it. My machine (10' diameter) can hit 500watts peak output in 20mph wind. But it does not work well for me in the location shown in the video because the trees are taller than the turbine. I'm going to move it to a new location. You need to put your machine in a place where it can get "clear air" wind flow. You don't care about "peak" output. You need to care about "sustained" output. That means you need sustained wind (no trees in the way).

  • Thanks for the reply! I'm excited to get mine going. Maybe in 2 weeks it will be going strong. I broke two magnets and now need to wait for them to arrive.

Another thing I was wondering, what do you (you in particular) power with the energy produced? Lights, TV, freezer?

  • The wind turbine (and 400watts of solar PV) charge a 24V battery bank. I'm running a Xantrex 1800 Prosine inverter to power my home refrigerator/freezer. The Xantrex has a built-in relay that allows switching between the battery bank and grid power with the flip of a switch. Unless you are in an area with lots of hours of daily wind or sun (no clouds) you need to be able to switch back to a backup power supply (grid or generator). Otherwise you flatten your batteries.

  • With this turbine I'm building will be getting lots of wind during the day but not so much at night when I most need it. I can't give numbers yet.

Not trying to bad talk this generator but yet contemplating the cost-benefit of it, is it worth it? For example, you've got all this money tied up on it to power your fridge/freezer, you know what i mean?

I am looking for opinion from people that have accomplished what I'm trying to accomplish.

    Thanks again.

  • @AMCOEAOWE perhaps there is a way to alternate between 2-3 battery banks to keep 1 used and 2 fully charged(battery bank size depends on your load i assume)

  • @AMCOEAOWE When you say you have to be clear of trees you mean 10 ft 1000 ft? Your best judgement please. I would guess i am to close to a wooded area.

  • @SidneyBou Basically it means if a tree is blocking the wind, your losing power. just use your best judgment. If you go outside, and you always feel wind in your location. chances are your in a good spot. however if you go out, and there's barely an air current, it wouldn't be best for your location. For instance, me living in a valley, by physical law, it would suck in my location, but actually the valley channels the wind and makes it more powerful. that's where your judgment comes in.

  • @SidneyBou I believe the rule of the thumb is to be higher than anything within 300 feet. With that in mind you can see by all these videos that height seems to be the key to sustainable wind energy. The "experts" say that minimum height should be around 80 feet. Considering the size of tower a person would need to attain that height makes the cost beyond most peoples budgets in the DIY mode.

  • check out my wind power vids...

  • what did you hook the three phase wire to. can you send me a list of parts thanks

  • check out my anti nimby wind vids...

  • Please put a video on how you made the alternator i have looked all over youtube and i haven't found one, if anyone knows of one tell me Please...........

  • very nice build, I'm impressed! you must be proud

  • I read a construction article on this design - lots of output in minimal wind. :D

  • Billybob - you can see a lot of construction notes on this design on the otherpower dot com website. It is a version of Hugh Piggott's design.

  • Ahhh, that is a mighty fine machine indeed.

I bet she makes a fair bit of power, and very quietly too.

    Great work :) .

  • Ah.. beautiful... axial flux 3 phase alternator

  • solar ,wind,inverter,...nice to meet you

  • nice, it would be really interesting if you'ld talk us through the electronics / mechanics of your system.
