i have a box turtle and i hear your suppost to soak them for at least 15 to 30 min in warm water everyday (not to hot not to cold water) i cant afford a humidifier so i was wondering , is it ok to have my turtle in the bathroom while i take a shower? because it gets steamy in there and puts moisture in the air and could warm the turtle at the same time. ive done it only twice and the turtle seemed to like it...if its bad PLEASE LET ME KNOW
Gravel for a box turtle is bad - it can cause foot and joint deformities over time, and they can't dig into it. Hardwood bark mulch (especially the "aged" or "double shredded" varities) is better - it holds moisture well and they can dig in it, and box turtels love to dig.
Tomorrow is my birthday and im gonna get two Turtles how big of a bowl or tank do i need to get and do i need a tank? can i just use a bowl and there baby turtles
@TheTurkishFalcon You need a tank, atleast 20g for like a few months. They need filters, lamps, heaters, basking platform, ect. turtles can not live in a bowl. thats usually a beta fish(:
@TheTurkishFalcon Yes you can put them in the same tank, Usually you have to wait until they are a little bit bigger to tell gender. Its hard when they are the size of a quarter.
@rachypanda My Turtles keep jumpıng on each other and ıt kında seems lıke there fıghtıng should ı let to go at ıt or put them ın two dıffrent parts of the Tank
@TheTurkishFalcon Yes, with box turtles, two males can fight, and a male can harrass a lone female. With aquatic turtles, some times even two females will fight each other if there's not enough room. It's best to just get one unless you're prepared to seperate them when they get older if there's fighting.
who needs bedding?!! turtles get annoyed with bedding if you put.............................. bedding will just make their scale red and stuff.......BAH!

i have a really quick question. lately i have been looking for things to make my tank stand out and fun for the turtles. i found these glow in the dark pebbles online and i was wondering if they would be safe for the turtles. again, these arent something i really have to have, i just want an honest opinion on how the turtles would feel about them.
Can anyone tell me if they sell huge gravel and not that kind of size cause I getting new 5 or 29 gallon tank and my baby turtle eats everything when hungry and I have 3 I'm getting 2 more big ones
@nikejordan214 k lucky duck frick are closest pet store sells dame slider for 47 $ and along time ago like 20 years ago u could get em for 1 or 2 bucks
i have a question for you guys local vets do nothing for turtles. I found a 12in eastern painted with screw holes in the back and no one wanted to help me. So they are useless. I have a 3 1/2in eastern painted turtle with half of a bottom jaw. Some one i knew had him and a red eared slider bite his head when he was smaller and dislocated the jaw. i managed to fix it some what but most of his jaw it gone is there anything i can do to save him. MY other painters are trying to bite his face
is it ok to not put any gravel in a turtle tank? i cant find the big gravel so i thought i could just put big rocks and sea shells in the tank is tht fine?
i have a vary small painted and you can see him in the video baby turtle from joey96687 and i have a small plastic cage with a homemade floating dock so if you can make a video about baby turtle setups so max(the turtle)dosent die because one of my hermit crabs past away about a year ago he was an old crab and i do not want to go through that again and so if you whould comment a video comment or something max and i whould be very greatful if you whould do that you whould make this boy very happy
I agreed with Elamena. Turtles don't need beeding at all. Sooner or later, it just give dirty water and smelly. Just bare bottom of the tank is the best. No gravel please.
Lights for basking area should be 12 inch away or depends on the wattage you used. The best is to get the temperature at 30 - 35 Celcius.
would a litter box with fresh water, one third side of gravel high enogh for land, and a basking light with a dish of turtle food be good? I thought of that habitat yesterday and maybe it might work .
i have 2 red eared sliders when i fill the tank so they can swim they swim like their having a panic attack is this normal? plz send me a message at my page thanks
i just got mine from chinatown and they're not eating the pellets, what else should i feed them
plus i have a small plastic tank with pebbles on one side and some water on the other
