Well, I'd like to give my opinion on DMC 4 The good - 1.) Dante being able to switch styles in mid-combat. 2.) Dante being in the game 3.) Dante having a personality (unlike DMC 2) The bearable 1.) Nero (He's alright, but I wish Vergil was in his place) 2.) The story The bad 1.) Relevance to the main plot of the series (very little, but somewhat related) 2.) As you mentioned, the part with Dante simply backtracking 3.) Non-appearance of Vergil or Mundus 4.) Trish and Lady bumped to the side.

DmC2 was actually my least fav..After I played DmC1 it went too far with all the adding of guns and nonsense lol..And the big pile of goo all bosses mixed into one boss always killed me =/ Ah well..Cant say im a fan of DmC3 much either..idk why lol..and I havent played 4 because im too poor to afford a new console ^_^ Woot!

DMC2 was probably the easiest, but I liked how refined the bosses were. They actually had patterns instead of deriving difficulty from OH HEY THE BUILDING SIZED DEMON BUMRUSHED YOU YOU LOSE HALF HEALTH.

DMC4 is in no way comparable to DMC1, except if the comparison was between a good DMC and a terrible one.

Using one weapon, or two, or three, from the first and second games does not mean squat. As far as I'm concerned, the Sparda sword was not in DMC4 as anything but an empty plot device, like pretty much everything else in the game.

in my opinion DMC2 is the worst of all because:

1-it's easier than drink a glass of water even in difficult mode, and the hardest mode should be the normal mode...

2-most of youre enemyes sucks and can't speak

3-dante itself has more charisma even in the first DMC

all these talk about what sucks and what not, i believe capcom is making it a tradition that odd number dmc's will be great and even number dmc's are mediocre. i agree with moseslmpg that dmc 1 and 3 are too good compared to 2 and 4.

4 is okay, 2 is just bleh...

so let's all just look forward to dmc5 and hope it would turn out even more better than all 4 dmc's. after all, nero might really be vergil's incarnation taking over his body or something and become the prime antagonist.

As a generic action game, maybe. But it doesn't deserve to be called DMC. kobayashi is a hack. The storyline is terrible, filled with holes, all the character besides Nero are lame, and no Vergil. Instant fail.

Go back and play DMC1, then you will understand.

DMC4 is totally unwarranted in all aspects. It is, as far as I am concerned, not a real DMC game. If you called it another name and took Dante out, it would be another game. Nero was pretty much the only thing done well, and he is a terrible, useless character.

Story better than usual? You must be making stuff up. DMC4's story makes somewhat less sense than DMC2's. You get utter lack of extras, no Vergil, no Hell, no Dante throughout the whole game, ridiculous backtracking, and so on.

I am saying that at least DMC2 did not have such weight to carry, we had lower expectations for it. But after the first 3 games, DMC4 is inexcusable.

Do you actually play the games, are watch them? From the perspective of gameplay, especially as an action game, DMC2 fails in all respects. DMC4 is a little better but it is marred by laziness and lack of content.

If you just mean as games that you know of, then I can understand that. It's just that DMC3 and DMC1 have far more depth in terms of action games and in the series in general.

Trish is an unlockable character that you get after beating both discs on Hard, I think. She is the best character in the game. She has Dante's movelist from DMC1.

I just got a Devil May Cry 5th anniversary pack a few days ago and That Demon Copter was tough when you fight it for the last time. I'm on Mission 6 with Dante, Lucia Normal Difficulty completed, waiting for Hard Difficulty. Lucia was cool, she looked like a female assassin!

You can't beat it with Trish before Dante. Trish is unlocked after beating it with Dante and Lucia, IIRC. The building boss was called Nefasturris.
