@BoomThundercats As pretentious as it is, at least it's not as cliche as your ad hominum response. If your opinion of the artistic value of this video is anything other than the manifestation of the power of association for your fondness of the music, I would be utterly astounded.

By all means, if you can offer some insight into the great artistic vision behind burning a sparkler through cardboard, stop-motion oragami or pouring food coloring over stenciled wallpaper I'd love to hear it.

The fact the video is home made from common materials and easily accessible items IS the nice thing about this video. It seems more tangible in my opinion.

I think it works well, losing touch with work through higher budgets is in my opinion a tragedy and loses a human signature and edge. That's just my opinion and why I like work like this.

Maybe there doesn't need to be a powerful artistic vision behind it, maybe it was fun to do and fun to watch. Is this alright with you?

@BoomThundercats Thousands of bands have created thousands of great low/no-budget videos. What you have here is a director seems more concerned with trying to make the video feel like a high concept surrealism than actual artistic execution. Instead of forming a clear artistic vision and following it through in a constructive format, the director just ties together arbitrary and random ideas that he thinks will impress the viewer. That is, by definition, pretension.

@negatyve No,you seem to be confusing what you think,with what the director was actually thinking.You seem certain your opinion is correct.Yes,bands have produced budget videos, but all it boils down to is taste. Maybe this video could have been simpler and focused on less ideas in greater depth,but this is not pretension,more experimentation.Lyrically the song is hard to make out but the imagery/lyrics relate in an abstract way.Maybe it was made out of enjoyment rather than a need to impress.

Funny, there used to be a band called Kyte in Denver, Colorado, back in the 1970s. They had a dot over the Y in their name. Hot guys, super cute and fun.  Singer's name was Lee. He was a total babe. They did great covers. If anyone knows where the old Denver Kyte guys are, please let me know!
