  • 'The' fill kicks in at 3:14... That is simply irrational for a pop song!

  • "Level 42" anyone? .-)

  • Remember this one back in the day + the much earlyer wouldn't it be, 5 years earlyer in 84 coz I bought it as a 16 year old....I supose this was when pop was realy that..

Good old Vin..went to one of his drum cliniqus back in the early 90's and was totaly inspirerd..

  • @Drumsmadness i ment nasty as in that is my new and current favorite fill.......EVER

  • @bceltics99 ohhhh

  • god i hate the vocalist. the beat was tight though but the fill at 3:15 was just nasty!!!!

  • @bceltics99 Colaiuta's fill is nasty? Oh my god, just shut up man, it's one of the best drum fills ever heard.

  • ♥dont ask me got no genius to mention ♥

    luv it!!!

  • Wow. What a great song. I remember hearing this track back in my Cult/Public Image/Jane's Addiction days and, even then, thinking...wow, what tight playing. Of course, my friends mocked me incessantly for slobbering over a Nik Kershaw tune...

Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do (did)...

  • 3:14 is a WOW!

    great playing of vinnie!

  • Never heard this before, really great pop. Reminds a bit of Easy

  • Great song!! Great Vinnie Colaiuta!

  • Very nice song and colaiuta's drums, but i've very impressed that Nik Kershaw wrote Chile at lyrics, and i'm From these country, lol.

  • Vinnie = SICK&SLICK

  • vinnie.

  • Vinnie at his best

  • thats like the first pop song that i heard/saw on youtube were everyone just talked about the drummer...it's justified though xD

  • How was this not a hit?!?!?! I don't understand it!!!!

  • @bsl2500 i think the beginning might have been too experimental for most people

  • @bsl2500

It wasn't a hit because the world was in the middle of a "Ratt/Warrant/Winger/Slaughter/L.A. Guns/Motley Crue/Nelson/Skid Row" induced haze...

Hey, I loved all those bands (well, Nelson? Yeah, they had cute hair...) in addition to being able to dig on some tight, adult pop. :)

  • Classic Vinnie... and a great hook from Nik of course!

  • My 5 year old loves this song :-)

  • epic drum fill

  • off to see nik at manchester academy this saturday,i cant wait he is my favourite artist ever

  • i got a new copy of the works on amazon last week

  • 3 : 15 \m/

  • What a smoking song! Vinnie Colaiuta is the master of drumming :)

  • where can i buy this song?

  • im sure all his stuff is on itunes now, so my brother says who runs niks forum so he is likely to know. the album 'the works' may be on ebay. if you typed 'nik kershaw' in to facebook there used to be one at the end that was actually 'mick wall' he will tell you anything you need to know. though you could speak to nik at one of his gigs, check his own website for the dates.

  • Killer album track. NK was too good for the bulk of late 80's pop fans. There is more cynical wit and brilliant jazz-pop here than they could handle!

  • I'm 20 and a massive Nik Fan :-) I love this song

  • actually Vinnie played on several of the tracks as Porcaro only played on 1.....

  • lol. jeff porcaro actually recorded the drums. but vinnie wrote it.

  • sorry guys, i meant vinnie done this song and jeff done the rest of the album

  • go vinnie awsome drummer and insane fill

  • great song.....well played fill from vinnie,,,,

    keep on playing my friend...haha

    :-ppp

  • this is vinnie cualiutua (sorry if i spelled his name wrong i dont no how to spell it) playing, hes really gud! insanely amazing fills!

  • colaiuta lol

  • great fill, but check out the hat accents at :39 right after "clever". very musical playing.

  • pretty sick fill for a pop song, lol.

  • azz! really goooooood!

  • Thanks posting this, this maybe is the most underrated Album from NK, but I like it so much ... and I'm proud to have it on CD also :)))

  • mind if i ask where you got your copy?

  • Indeed. Great album! Vinnie was the perfect choice; what a solid groove on all the songs he plays on! A real drummer is so much better that tired drum machine:)

  • I'm hoping to somehow grab this CD here in the U.S.

  • This record is absolutely incredible - the b-side is to die for.. I picked it up on used lp from a local shop. Got it for 2£, which is very cheap since the cd has gon out of print. saw the lp on ebay priced at 40£, so it's definately worth a bit

  • This LP is worth £40? Well now I'm glad I bought it back in 89! Jesus... that's 20 years ago. Now I feel old. lol

  • where on earth did you get the cd

  • I did´nt posted it, but I wish I could own this CD, awesome!

  • heyya

i got the cd for christmas at a good price

if you want to know where look n GEMM

  • Thank you I will check it out!

  • Ok 3:15 then!!
