  • Nice peace dude

  • @supahtek

Thanks. I like the way you spelled "piece" with "peace". It does preserve the peace in my home indeed.

  • Looks like a great boot gun!

  • that gun is most likely the very accurate, just hard to shoot

  • Smith & Wesson is the only way to go.. Quality !!

  • I know that you said it was good for 10 ft but I am going to make a vid very soon to sow you that, that gun is great if setup correctly for 85 ft spot-on. Im going to use an old S&W mod-19 w/ 2-1.5 inch barrel. At least that we do agree that its our favorite home defense. Gun.

  • Actually, the found some clips for .45s loaded since WWII put them in a gun and they perfomed just dandy...keep things well and they will keep you well..

  • and taurus have a secure with the key...-)

  • @xXxNORALADYxXx Well if I say this, I know I'm gonna get bashed by Taurus fans, but IMHO SWs are just plain better than Taurus and worth the extra. Not just the performance of the gun itself but the craftsmanship on the details, the finish, the trigger pull etc etc. I'm not familiar with the Swiss currency but the prices of guns differs from place. For example, guns and ammo prices here in Kalifornia are higher than other free states. I wouldn't be surprised if the prices are higher in Europe.

  • nice gun.. i like this revolver. but i have a question: why is the smith and wesson for example model 686 or 627 with 8 rounds expensiv than taurus 617 7 rounds?? the comparison: smith and wesson 1000 dollars, taurus 600 dollars. why? and guys can you give more informations concerning the smith and wesson modell 627 with 8 rounds. .357 magnum +.38 speical+p.?? i have received in switzerland an offert this model costs 1800 swiss francs.. lil bit too expensive or? Plese help..:-)

  • Is it true that all Smith and Wesson revolvers' cylinders rotate counter-clockwise?

  • @armenianesh818 I own two Smiths but they do rotate counter clock wise. Clock wise if you're looking from the business end of the gun ;)

  • im 15 and im getting one haha

  • @TheGenocide62 But your channel says you're 49 though... Either way good luck then. If you're really 15 you might want to let your parents take care of it for you till you turn 21. But hey if your parents are ok with it any thing goes right? ;)

  • @JHP717 HAhahaha With some of the things I say on youtube I never put my real info on here. I'll tell mom and Dad what ya said though. lol

  • you must live in a bad area if you sleep with it under your pillow

  • @darthdragonking Actually as far as I can remember we have never had a major crime or a petty crime occur in our neighborhood. We have had dumb high school kids drinking beer in the alley once but that was about it. My point is no matter where you live, you should be prepared because regardless of where you live, there will always be a first time.

  • @JHP717 i guess your right well be carefull out there

  • 英語も日本語もうまいなんて

    いいですねw

  • It's definitely more accurate than we are

  • That gun is fucking awesome!!!

  • have you concealed carried this? is it heavy?

  • @duke3oh8 No I have not carried this firearm concealed. When I am in Texas I ccw my Taurus PT 145. I will be picking up my Kahr PM9 next week (after anticipating for ten days) so the PM9 will probably replace the PT145. As for this gun, it is my home defense gun. I think this would be a fairly heavy gun for ccw though...

  • is it possible to get the safety on the Smithy removed?

  • @Danil1911 If you meant the external key safety which is a part of the frame, then it may be easier to replace it with a frame without the safety on it. Or you might as well get one without the safety.

  • Snubbies are accurate,,Go watch Hickoc45 shoot 80 yard targets w/a snubbie,lol

  • What's with the handcuffs?

  • @ioport well when I get a little freaky.. I meant It's to restrain home invaders until the cops get here. yes...

  • @JHP717 Heh, whatever floats your boat. Anyways, nice video. Just got my 686 snubby six shooter. Need a speed loader now. Great gun. I love revolvers

  • @JHP717 with a .357 magnum I dont think restraint of the invaders is gonna be a concern...

  • I plan on upgrading my 38 special with a model 627 8 shot 357 magnum soon as i get enough money. I hear they sell for around $850 and can also shoot 38's!

  • I enjoyed your vid. I have a Judge Magnum 3" cylinder, and I was thinking about a Bond Arms Snake Slayer 4 as a backup. What's your opinion? I only use my Judge as home and car defense.

  • @roldans99 The Judge seems like a good option but I don't know about the snake slayer because it's a derringer right? I guess it's your preference but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with a gun that only has the capacity of two rounds. If you're living anywhere outside of California why not invest in a ruger lc9 that's coming out right now. It's small and compact but it fires a different round (9mm).

  • Beautiful handgun. Ahh damn the UK gun laws I'd love to have a nice revolver like that as my home defence gun too.

  • @RustiSwordz Thanks for the comment and I'm sorry to hear that. Living in a very restrictive state myself, I can't help but sympathize with people like you and all those countries that deny their citizens' the right to self preservation.

  • yay! a revolver guy!

  • i have a 686 6in and love it. you cant buy better quality

  • i have found on the smith and wesson page .. a very beautiful revolver newest revolver model 627. with 8 rounds and also .357 magnum.same form as model 686... these two are very very beautiful and very good.

  • @xXxNORALADYxXx Hey there I think revolvers are beautiful too. You asked what gun is a better choice but it all depends on what you are intending to use that gun for. If you are planning to just have fun, then a Glock 19 like you said, would be an excellent choice since the 9mm is a fairly cheap type of ammo, and you can use it for defense too. If you are purely looking for a HD Gun, then I feel a 357 with jhp would be a better choice.

  • Yes i think soo. i look everytime texas films. and i love id. i love revolvers. Can someone give me another revolver in this revolver form not longer,, but this is perfect.. what is better or 9mm pistol, .357 or .38? sorry for my english..:-) last question what is easier to use? pistol or revolver .. i mean the shooting.? glock 19 is also e very good pistol.

  • I have SW revolvers, and I agree that they are reliable, but who keeps there gun loaded for years at a time without removing the rounds at some point?

  • What prefer you to buy a gun? i love revolvers.. please help. This revolver is very beautiful.. but is verry loud? is it true`??? and is the .375 stronger then .38.. Thanks for your help...:-)

  • @xXxNORALADYxXx Well what made me buy a gun? I was gun crazy ever since I can remember so when I turned 21 I purchased my first gun (which was this revolver), right away. And yes, this gun is very loud especially when you shoot the 357 rounds. The 357 magnum cartridge is stronger than the 38 specials. Are you fixing to buy one soon?

  • @xXxNORALADYxXx This revolver can be very loud with a huge muzzle flash if you fire full power .357 magnum loads though it. However if you do plan to shoot .357 magnum I would recommend you buy your revolver with at least a four inch barrel. For a short barrel like this gun it is better to fire .38 special and you can shoot .38 special in any .357 revolver. Check out the Ruger GP100 .357 it is a nice gun too but do not lets anyone talk you into buying a Taurus Revolver . They are junk.

  • revolvers can be semi auto

  • Can 38 +P+ ammo be used in this?

  • @jmkpns I've had those questions before too, but on my manual that came with the gun it does not recommend the use of +P. But if it can take the 357s I'm guessing it will take the 38 spl +P. A lot of people told me it's ok but I'm gonna stick to what it says in the manual. Why shoot 38+Ps when you can shoot 357s?

  • @JHP717 They will take +p according to the manual, but do not recommend +p+ and you would think it would be okay in any model designed for magnum ammunition.

  • @JHP717 That's rediculous. Any .357 can shoot .38 +P. All that matters is that you stay between the min and max pressure for your gun.

  • @jmkpns you can but you might scuff up the inside of your barrel. id suggest it for home defense but not for range shooting

  • @marleyt100 I'm talking about +P+ loads, not the +P because those are okay to use, but law enforcement have always used the +P+ ammo in revolvers and you would think magnum loads would have higher pressures than a +P+.

  • @jmkpns Im pretty sure the magunm loads have a lot more perssure. I wouldnt see a problem with using it. Have you tried contacting a gunsmith? Im kinda interested in it myself

  • @marleyt100 S&W told that I could use them in the heavy frames like the 686, 65 and 66, but most folks don't regularly have their weapons inspected like the officers who would use the +P+ ammo in their models 65 and 66. If you keep your gun properly inspected then it's fine I was told.

  • @jmkpns sounds good thanks for the info

  • @marleyt100 You bet. I've got some Federal +P+ Hydra Shoks.

  • Beautiful Gun.

  • @OilTheGun Yes sir, beautiful gun it is

  • Comment removed

  • @007bondspy Hey come on now, I have my own views on them, and that's that, but I don't appreciate those jokes here. Keep them to yourself please ;)

  • @JHyeah i cracked a joke in very poor taste but thats just me !

  • I think the reason people prefer revolvers over semi-autos is because the revolver is so reliable and wont jam but the semi auto has a chance of jaming

  • @jumbi100 yup (unless there are alignment issues or some catastrophic issues) your revolvers will keep going bang! bang! each time you pull that trigger, and the guy being hit better buy a good suit and find a good lawyer because he's gonna be meeting Jesus real soon (if not instantaneously).

  • If your ownership of that gun for 5-6 years isn't a testament to the strength of the 686 i just don't know what is. I am truly amazed that you would treat your gun so roughly, granted it is a tough tool. Still blatant disregard for the care of the gun by flipping it open and closed. I am in agreement with the real revolver shooters in the group and cringe at your handling of that fine piece of machinery.

  • @treier1 (sigh...) thank you for reminding me that for the hundredth time... I know. I think I mentioned it somewhere before that I was being careless that day...(sigh)

  • @JHP717 Yep, here we go..... Sorry I have my days were no matter what I come across as a dick. Sorry..... Great gun thought and I would love to add the 686+ to my collection. BTW, I have done this once or twice on my 586... Didn't dare do anymore than that. Maybe if it had been a Ruger..... :)

  • @treier1 yep, I just couldn't resist it. Haven't done it anymore though. Next revolver on my radar would be Ruger Alaskan 454 Casull

  • @JHP717 Man I have had my eyes on that one, but for now, and given the overall usefulness for my situation the sp101 comes first. I just cant seem to find one with a 3" barrel.

  • Slick revolver. A very nice seven-shooter for the nightstand.

  • just picked up a 3in 686-6P. i absolutely love this gun! easy to shoot, recoil is extremely manageable w/ .357. i was taking out 8in targets from 50ft away with .38spl+P. very fun gun! i burn through ammo with this quicker than i do with my semi autos.

  • i personally think the short barrels look terrible

  • @P3T3RSAH Hey whatever works for you, just be armed.

  • How tough is this to shoot?

  • @sungwei9 not that much, I have a video of me shooting this gun single handed but it's not bad at all

  • There is something mystique about revolver! this is a beautifull gun

  • the only thing i dont like about the shorter barrel revolvers is that they are no that much fun to shoot because anything past 5 yards is really hard to hit what your aiming at

  • @piketyl000 It's more of a learning curve. I can shoot a J frame just as well as a full sized Glock. Trust your trigger, not your sites and it doesn't matter too much.

  • Hey , Great video ! Have you seen Hickok 45 shooting the short barreled revolvers in his videos ? If you check it out you might change your view on how accurate they are. He shoots a target at 80 yards effortlessly and consistently, all with the snubby. Keep up the good work and take care.

  • @carvinrigged Yeah I guess I have to practice more with this one

  • i saw this gun in a magazine.

It's a beauty !! How much did you pay for it?

  • @thrityyearsold Thanks, I think I paid close to $800 dollars for it including the Dros and the HSC test since it was my first gun .

  • @JHP717 not to be funny but where do you live that you need to sleep with a gun under your pillow ?? i too have a glock but i dont keep it loaded under my pillow .lol

  • @mjmoto72 I actually don't sleep with it under my pillow any more. It's in a quick access electronic safe next to my bed. I live in South Bay Los Angeles near the Beaches where we don't really have a big problem in terms of "violent" crimes, but I strongly believe that anything can happen any where any time. Hey call me paranoid but that guy who breaks in is gonna go to the morgue. lol

  • @mjmoto72 America, anywhere these days. LOL.

  • how is the trigger on this beauty ?? is it better then the Ruger sp101???

  • @RoyalAlba1 the trigger pull is great, like any S&W revolvers. I don't own a Ruger 101 but have shot the gp100, and I still liked the 686 better. It's a real nice smooth pull, not too heavy too.

  • @RoyalAlba1 It's very smooth. I've shot a Ruger and a Taurus before, but I must say, like all S&W revolvers, they are a joy to shoot. In single action, it's really a hairpin trigger.

  • Great gun...I have the 686-2 (pre-lock) 4" full lug. Too bad you keep swinging that cylinder closed and flinging it open....great way to bend the ejector rod and cylinder stop. don't watch so many movies.....Hollywood rents their guns so they don't have to worry about fixing them.

  • Good choice, when I had my 4' barrel 357 magnum smith 686, I use to do the same thing, sleep with it under my pillow.

  • great gun,i love smith&wesson's "ramp" sights

  • @TeenagerFromMars66 Cool. I hope your first gun would be a SW revolver cause you know you wont regret it.

  • yeah but if you hit somebody with that it wont be anymore hair growing up were you hit it and thats for sure i love the revolver specially that one great gun great video

  • Thanks I love these things too. Revolvers just feel better in my hands

  • I personally, would not sleep with my gun under my pillow. Even a revolver. Thanks for the review though.

  • Yeah, I know some people may feel that it may be a safety issue, but it was in a holster so the trigger couldn't be pulled accidentally. However I recently got a "fast-access-safe" couple of months ago, so my baby is in there when I go to sleep.

  • @JHP717

Sounds good, also I thought you were putting your run under the pillow without a holster. I personally wouldn't feel that comfortable even with a holster, but it is much safer. Also, depends on your living environment. High crime inner city, I might even due that myself.

  • Great vid Great weapon

  • like i said before thats a beaut...i just got a ruger gp 100....and im actually impressed...i think my next revolver will be a s&w

  • @gtvl77 cool you won't be turned down cause these things really are a beauty and a joy to shoot.

  • cool. i just got a 6inch 686 very nice to handle with the hogue grips

  • @GatmanReviews cool, the 6' barrel must be a lot more easier to shoot (not that this one kicks a lot but still, the longer barrel should compensate for the recoil significantly)

  • 0:22 *flinches*

  • was that A steel version?

  • yeah it's the ss version. I guess it's better against corrosion right?

  • @JHP717 yea, I perfer steel in a revolver.

  • @JHP717 Oil is the best defense against rust.

  • @Jrhoney Amen to that

  • Comment removed

  • I guess you can if it fits your pocket. It's always better to have it in a holster though ( even if the double action pull is heavy enough to prevent accidental discharge, moisture can also become an issue if you keep it in your pocket the whole day.)

  • @JHP717 maybe you right

  • I shoot a s&w .357 magnum with my grandfather, with wood grips, its not a gun to shoot for 4 hours straight.

  • Agreed. Unless we're shooting 22s, 4 hours would be a little tiresome.

  • Nice gun. I just bought a 4" 686P a couple months ago. I have autos, but this was my first revolver. I love it. Makes me want to carry a revolver CCW instead of my glock or kahr. I would consider your short model, but weight, capacity, and width are still issues for me CCW wise.

  • @MagneticDog 7bullets of .357 will take any man/women out xD

  • 英語もできるんですか!

  • my firtst 357 was a ruger security edition i had a rubber grip put on it s &w is just as good

  • Cool man, by the way how do rugers shoot? I know they're like tanks, but how's the trigger pull? I'm thinking of getting a gp100

  • yea they are like tanks...trigger pull to me is a bit more um whats the word harder i guess than a s&w..but i will say i didnt know just by changing grips will effect ones accuracy...the rubber grip makes a world of difference..357 are also my favorite revolvers

  • It will stay on my coffee table for now, if only because its so appealing to look at. :)

  • Yeah I did that too. I still do that sometimes. It's really relaxing to admire the beauty of a revolver. (But don' let your family catch you baby talking to your guns because it will creep them out...)

  • @JHP717 how far can you shoot with this beauty??

  • @RoyalAlba1 Sorry I haven't checked... I usually shoot this gun in the 10-20 yard range

  • @JHP717 woow that is not bad ^^

    for a 2.5inch barrel ^^

i like this revolver but i want a pocket revolver and this one isnt that good for it

  • @RoyalAlba1 how about one of those small Ruger LCPs? I saw one at the store the other day, it looked pretty cool. The downside is that it's chambered in 38, so you can't shoot 357s

  • Well I truly hope that day will never come too. I cannot imagine the emotional trauma it will bring if you had to shoot anyone. I think it would be a natural bodily/mental response after you shoot someone (regardless of if it was justified or not). As much as I don't ever want to go through that, I know that we don't live in a perfect world, and anyone can become a victim anytime. Therefore I feel responsible as a citizen to keep and have means to protect ourselves should something ever happen.

  • ya know, you shouldnt flick the cyl - oh already addressed. ANyway, the 686 def is the archetypal revolver by SW. But I gotta point out, I left my 649 in a basement, and two months later I pulled it out and it had rusted just enough to where the cyl didnt spin... grease and a brush fxd it tho

  • Really?? You must live in a very humid area because I never had any rust problems for my 686. I do clean and oil it once in a while though...

  • Let's not be a bunch of numbnuts here.357 is a much higher pressure round than ANY .38 including ANY +P+ (35k psi vs, about 23k psi). ANY .357Mag can handle .38 +P+. If you don't know the answer to a technical question, don't go disseminating incorrect information.

  • Thanks for the info. there, but on the S&W manual, it specifically says: "Plus -P-Plus (+P+) ammunition must not be used in Smith & Wesson firearms." (pg.13) So according to you and alot of others, it can take the +p+, but not recommended by the company. So I guess it's not that it can't take it, but rather a safety/warranty issue. Personally I feel well protected with the 357 round though.

  • I would advise not doing the hollywood thing where you jerk the gun and throw the cylinder in it. Its a tough gun but I still don't think thats good for it.

  • I know alot of yous pointed out that I shouldn't flick the cylinder that way. I just couldn't help it (it was my first video). But trust me I don't do that normally.

  • NICE 7 rounds???

  • Yea its the newer version. That extra round is really sweet!

  • Will the 686 take the weird 38 Spcl +P+ round because the GP100 does and I know the 686 will take 38 spcl+P, but will it take 38 +P+?

  • Nope, I don't think none of the S&W revolvers take plus p plus ammo. I read on the mannual that S&W guns can't take +p+ ammo.

  • my s&w 642 takes +p

  • If it can take a .357 magnum round, then it can take a .38 special +p no problem.

  • If you're load 38 spec +p+, just step up to .357 mag bro. No need to fuck around.

  • Nice, but i prefeer a longer version :p

  • Yeah the 4" barrel does look meaner but I still love this gun. It'll do the job when someone breaks in ; )

  • keep flickin that cylinder closed and you're going to damage the crane.

  • People mywytefeet is right, don't ever do what this person did with flickin the cylinder closed its not worth it.

  • I have been considering this gun for home defense for several months now. Your video was informative and conveyed a nice sense of the weapon, with good visuals. I am no stranger to guns in general, but have not fired a rifle or shot gun in 18 years, nor have I ever owned a hand gun. I realize, as you mentioned about the accuracy factor re: home def. but just curious, what can you group at what range w/ this gun.

    Thank you, Rich

  • I think this gun is an excellent gun to consider as your home defense weapon. For a 2.5 inch barrel this gun is very accurate, at 10 yards (which is more than enough for home defense) the groupings would be around 4-5inches. However it is a little pricey. A more economical alternative may be the ruger GP100 (which is going to be my next gun) which should do the same damage with the 357 magnum round. With your prior experience with firearms, the 357 shouldn't be a problem in terms of recoil etc.

  • Thanks for the response. The GP 100 does seem like a good alternative. After all $ is tight. I am now rethinking the idea of a snub-nose. I intend to do a good amount of range practice because, first, what good is a gun if you are not proficent in it's use? And secondly, I enjoy shooting so this would also be a recreational tool as well. However I don't want anything too cumbersome in the event of a break-in or home invasion. Perhaps I should consider a 4"...?

  • It's true that a gun is useless if can't shoot it right. I'm guilty of this too, but I think nowadays people don't have the extra time or cash to go shooting alot. So the accuracy of the gun itself will certainly come in to play. A 4inch barrel will certainly increase accuracy and lower the recoil. If you are planning to do alot of shooting with it, a 4" barrel is an excellent choice. My next gun would be the GP 100 in 4".

  • I think you're talking about gunshot residue (GSR), and yes you will find GSR on a person's hand or clothing if he shoots the gun. The gunshot residue is produced when the primer is ignited and the gas escapes from the muzzle. So even if you clean your gun, it will produce residue if you shoot it.

  • Comment removed

  • Well, I'm no criminalist, but here are some possiblities 1 you shot yourself in water(say in the ocean- the water would wash away the majority of the residue), 2 assisted suicide 3 you wore gloves or something and someone removed it. And 4 the most prevalent in those cases: Foul play.

If the person uses a long gun, he may use his toes to pull the trigger. etc. Again I can't give you a definite answer but I think one of these would do it.

  • Comment removed

  • Let's say the person takes posion to kill himself, and after the person expires, someone comes and shoots him in the head. There will be no GSR on his hand but a bullet wound will be present (which will make LE suspicious of the case). The Examiner will rule suicide if he finds that the corpse was dead before the bullet entered its body.

  • Comment removed

  • are you planning on killing yourself or someone else because i've seen your comments like this on multiple revolver videos?

  • NO, neither. Just need info from different sources other then what a toxicology report stated, which I don't think their report was accurate, pertaining to a love one who died, and we don't know if... was murdered or committe suicide??, but thanks for asking.

  • oh ok i though your very in depth questions were a bit strange but i see what you are doing now. good luck with the investigation.

  • I always have a revolver on me My back up would be a semi auto I love the semi auto but with my life I trust 100% the revolver anyday

  • yeah I like semi-autos too but I always keep the revolver by my side because I know for sure, the gun WILL go bang when I pull that trigger (unless the rounds are bad).

  • you know you know you know

  • That is actually my favorite .357 revolver it's so clean and sharp I paid like $700 for it but I love it to death

  • I think this gun is a great investment. I purchased a S&W 686 with a 6 inch barrel back in 1995 for 325.00. I priced the exact model today and it's more then doubled in price.

  • sexy gun...........

  • closing the cylinder like that may look cool but it also wears it out alot faster.

  • I know but I can't resist...

  • cost?

  • i am looking at aquireing a .357 8 shot medium to long barrel revolver. so reliable good accuracy.

  • i agree revolvers are also my fav, there just more fun to shoot

  • cool gun!

  • a very cool gun indeed.

  • how much did u pay for it

  • Will the .357 mag hollow point go through sombody's body? just asking for safety reasons i was thinking of getting one but i have heawrde that it is not a good idea to have a .357 hollow cause they are vbery powerful and may god through someone and possibly hitting an innocent person

  • I'm not a professional, and I'm sure depending on the place you hit, results will vary but I'm pretty sure a 357 HP would go through a human body. If you're concerned with that the 45ACP HP maybe a better choice in terms of penetration problems (although it doesn't mean it will not penetrate, it will exand more, so the likelihood of it will be lower than that of the 357)← I think...
