  • @WorldSurveillance no cutting yet, it's hard to find an abrasive saw that will accept a 1200lb piece and we have more than enough cut brenhams for display/sale, really no reason to cut. yes, waiting is the issue, I'll be long dead before this sells for $1 per gram but it is fun to dream, maybe I'll go buy a lotto ticket today :-)

  • @WorldSurveillance Also, by my calculation, 1200lb = 544kg = 544,000 grams. 20 times that number is about $11 million, that will get you a headline in the newspaper but no sales. So, I assume you are thinking $1 per gram? I'll take it! If you know anyone that will actually pay that amount then have them call me. (ps. not holding my breath).

  • it's worth millions at $20.00 a gram. He hit the lottery.

  • yes, to quote carl sagan, it is worth billions and billions.

  • They must have edited out you pooping your pants!!!!

  • no, its there, just gotta look for it

  • id love a statistical plot of the distribution of the various kinds of meterites varieties and sizes around the world, per kilometer and the gouping of them. i am thinking there must be one of those somewhere a few miles from my house.

how about designing systems you can attach to your car, to drive fast around the desert with a 1kw metal detector, and if you find a few hunded kilo with it, send me one one day! we dont have any deserts in my country!

  • you don't often come across thinker's like yourself. i wouldn't want to deny you of the fun involved to execute these projects so i'll just give you some encouragement and say cheery oh! don

  • well that was uncalled for! :-)

  • how did you know the meterorite was there?

  • metal detector, see my other videos, digging a 500lb and detector compare, don

  • wow where in kansas did you find that? btw do you know where Rose Hill Is? i use to live there

  • the meteorite was found in the brenham strewn field, about 100 miles west of wichita. it is at our museum, also in the strewn field. yes, rose hill is close to an fellow, "bud", that had an h chondrite, the meteorite moved north. don

  • how much was that one worth? and what was done with it?

  • hi mangeese, it is at our museum,

    Kansas Meteorite Museum & Nature.

little larger rock got a bid of $100,000 at auction, maybe around this number. i can say it is worth a million, but who will cut me a check? i sell small pieces on eBay for a few dollars per gram but to say a large meteorite is worth such a price ignores the work and loss involved to cut and polish the material. It is a bit like saying a lump of iron is worth $360K because you could make a Lamborghini from it. capiche?

  • I enjoyed your video. It was a question out of curiosity not stupidity. capichery?

  • Oh, didnt mean to be condescending, just in my nature to over explain everything, scientist. the correct response is "how much can you pay?".

  • that is funny, you've been watching too much "science" tv :-)

  • wow you can sell that for like 150,000,00ish>?????

  • Excellent video and thrilling recovery!

  • NICE!!!

  • wow thats a amazing speciman!!! JACK POT!!!
