  • Taekwondo is karate it is korean karate just like hapkido is.

  • karate flawless victory

  • El mismo debate de mierda, del que lamentablemente hay tantos vídeos. No hay arte marcial mejor, si no artista marcial competente.

  • claro q no es shotokan !! q mariconada de karate y tae kwon do.

  • "you're the best, aroundddd....noones gonna ever take you down"

  • IS NOT SHOTOKAN NEVER !!!!

  • PESIMO, NO ES POSIBLE QUE PUBLIQUEN ESTO, ES UN INSULTO AL ARTE MARCIAL, POR FAVOR !!!!!

  • Persian messenger arrives at the gates of Sparta, demanding the submission of Sparta to King Xerxes. In response to this demand, Leonidas and his guards kick the messenger into a large well.

  • BJJ !!!

  • Did anyone else notice that the KArate guy who won, was wearing his helmet backwards???????

  • @KobraKai2 hahah yes it is true

  • @KobraKai2 That's pretty funny...probably not used to wearing headgear...

  • @THEpillows100 err you not suppose respond like that..you need to get angry and ignorant like mostly how they teach you in tkd school. like TKD Best style evarr!!!

  • Blue belth

  • karate will win 60 percent of the time against a boxer if u really wanna see something check out penjak silat that will beat kung fu and any boxer out there

  • @theorifice1 Depends which karate and who your facing, and boxing only use upper body when karate uses upper and lower body, which means boxing has less of a chance.

  • gostei

  • The Taekwondo guy is in waaaaay over his head. He is outclassed.

  • tks suck

  • Ok, they're martial arts, and not dances, because they strive to achieve dominance in combat. If you put your regular boxing guy against your regular karate dude 1 on 1, no rules, I'm pretty sure the boxer would win 90% of those matches. The fact that they don't use fancy pijamas and belt hierarchies doesn't make them lousier. In fact, I'm willing to bet that the same regular boxer is almost always a more constant and willing person that the karateka.

  • wow la diferencia de cintas es muy poca y le patio bien rico la cara ese brother debe de ser el verdugo en dojo

  • ja vai ?

  • @GuamKomudo - You forget the largest part of Karate and underestimate it's traditions. It is not just beating people down. Listen, and learn:

"The ultimate aim of Karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of character of its participants." - Master Gichin Funakoshi

  • @VikingsofDenmark You have 100% right! Box...ok, do oyu ever hit with the leg? We, who are practicing karate...we hit with legs to ... and our moves are 2 even 3 more times faster than box...: (sry for my bad eng)

  • @EuAndrei98 Thank you, and do not worry, I think your english is actually well spoken! But I can agree with you. Karate did evolve from Samurai fighting styles, hence how every move can also be used in swordplay. So, naturally movements are supposed to be fast. But there is an art side to karate, not just the competetiveness, which I have come to enjoy the most.

  • @VikingsofDenmark exactly, it's an art, it's martial art, it's not just a fight...who cand punch more powerfull :))

  • big mouth, little skill

  • Wow, after reading some of these comments it is quite clear that people have a different opinion about what martial arts is. Instead of nitpicking at each other, you should define what "martial arts" means to you and go from there. That way everyone can see what you mean by "martial arts." And perhaps, you can also see the flaw in your logic as well.

The only "dishonor" or "disgrace" I see are of the people who are bad-mouthing others and bringing their own disgrace to their family/self.

  • hit "dooooooooooeeeeee", did you see that mommy..hit hit kick, "doeeeeee"..."DOEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

  • What stupid kumite rule is this? Land a single shot and you break?

I've done lots of kumite but never encountered this type of silly rule. In kumite, there are tricks referred to my sensei as "kamikaze attacks" in which you'd take a blow from your opponent but then counters with more destructive attacks. This type of trick requires speed, accuracy and good judgment, which are not nurtured by stupid rule shown in the video.

  • @gardanegara

    i believe it's called " KOZOCHI " , i'm no expert but that is what i studied

  • @gardanegara Its just point fighting?

  • taekwondo is for little girls who do ballerina :D

  • where is taekwondo??? all you want to do is to dishonor this martial art motherfuckers

  • The guy on the opposing side is fucken shit. LOL, rip the mother fucker in a fight any day.

  • maricas shotokan solo dicen solo toca no le pegues fuerteb

  • @juancebelik pobre de vos salame

  • @juancebelik pobre de vos salame

  • That isn't Taekwondo

  • not is taekwondo motherfucks

  • he was shouting like a pig that is giving birth lol

  • Which ones which ?

  • el cuate tienes la careta mal puesta

  • CUal es el de Taekwondo¡? ahi veo dos competidores de Karate

  • if there are no competitions everyone would have less experience . Before everyone enter the ring, senses like fear would overcome you. If there are no competitions or tournament , why dont you think for yourself, when it comes to a real street fight karateka or any other martial art students will be afraid and thus fear will overcome your body. i guess you're a weak fighter that never enters tournament. i suggest you better quit because you are not learning

  • wait, they stop fighting after one hit? LAME

  • What the fuck was that? Bwahahaha point tournaments have no value for strong healthy man claiming to be training MA's. 'BWoaaahhhhh..BWOAHHHHHH" WHY is he screaming like that? God, why. ahahahahah

  • this is karate not taekwon do

  • eso no es tae kwon do pendeja!!!!

  • again this is not taekwondo, why people is so retrasada mental with this things

  • what a girl fight!

  • this is so unfair the kid in blue belt from taekwondo is beginner and dont even know how to kick and the other one in shotokan is a black belt and knows almost everything.

  • @XmonirX exactly another reason why taekwondo sucks. Why the fuck is the kid a BLUE BELT if he's just a beginner?

  • @bloodriotiori because todays taekwondo is just for kids to become happy now they practical give out the belts before u had to fight for them.

  • @XmonirX most TKD schools that i've seen pretty much produce shitty fighters just like this guy, with belt rankings much higher than they should have. You pretty much get your belts as long as you pay your monthly fee, not if you deserve them or not.

  • @bloodriotiori agreed

  • CUAL ES CUAL? :S

    n.n

  • il est bien bas le niveau ..

  • Who is karate and who taekwndoo?

  • lol the brown belt has his head gear on the wrong way

  • I Trained under Master Nishiyama for years sinc I was a child. Master Nishiyama allways taught to refine your technique to its truest form. he did not teach me to gain a point! God Bless Master Nishiyama!

  • @cis93555 Its good to find another purest here. The form exists for a reason. To many people are looking for a quick payoff and garner little understanding as result. There are more thing to be learned in one style through techinique and practice than in a hundred styles that profess that they can make you a good fighter over night.

  • Vaya basura...

  • it shouldn't be who gets there first, it should be who makes the best contact during an exchange.

  • Ok, I'm not trying to start a fight but i'm just saying. Why does everybody get so pissed off at tournaments because there just for a point? I think that competitions are more of practice for real life and just your technique over all. But I do agree about the lack of proper technique part, they really need to give points for proper technique, AND who get's there first.

  • is it just me or the helmet is backwards from the dude with the brown belt?! :)

  • this is taekwondo gtf vs gtf

  • HADOUKEN!

  • fantoches

  • Isto es karate contra el karate!!!

    No es taekwondo vs karate!!!

Jo soy del brasil e pratico el taekwondo

  • point sparring would be a good idea if they hit hard enough,.. focus on block counter,or just attack....even groin kicks, more grabbing would be great

  • LMAO! at the start with the head kick! haha. i know what they were telling him! "lighten up on the contact ok? im not gunna tell you again!" LOL i hear that every tournament i go to when i hit some1. haha.

  • @1337mma the older divisions should hit harder espeically black belt divisions...

  • The helmets look silly.

  • What an unprofessional refferee!

  • tae kwon do better u.u

  • wher is taekwondo?

  • @jamaican1232 I thought I just did...LOL

  • Junkie tournaments produce junkie competition.

  • ...Always the same ridiculous thing...Where is Taekwondo???I am sick of videos with titles such"X martial art vs.Y martial art".These guys are what?the living examples of these arts???

  • karate vs taekwando.... winner = KARATE mostly shotokan... =)

  • @graffayappa damn right

  • i saw a vid of the jka style of competition...... better form and technique in my opinion

  • i hate point sparring

  • @SuperBluepurple All these competitions suck, EVERYONE sacrifices their form and proper technique for a stupid point! Anyone can go into these competitions and slap at each other to score a point. When I watch this I am disgusted at the lack of proper technique, one type of strike and one type of kick, watch thirty Karate competitions and you always see the same thing. I hate competition, it really does make a fighter weak. On the street there are NO rules so never forget your true Karate.

  • @johnm543 i understand ya point, the jka sparring is about power but the ways the score is narrow minded...point tournements around mississippi dont allow certain leg sweeps/checks.....now no more groin kicks in the mens divisions. kyokoshin dont allow punching to the head.... taekwondo dont punch enough...mma dont allow but a few kinda of elbows, knees, no hair pulling, soft tissue stuff * understandably* ....there just so much you can do with out going to jail

  • @johnm543 yes your right i do shotokan karate do and my sensei always sais that the belt an the competitions sucks the tru thing its figth for a porpouse no just to win a competition, i mean in the streets you dont do points to win you have to protect your self to survive ...

  • @johnm543 There are a few competitions that go all the way though i dont like how they stop in the middle of things. and sometimes the better fighter loses cause of a crap ref.

  • @johnm543 All traditional martial art forms are useless. All those forms you practice are impractical and useless. I think karate is bull, i have my black belt in taekwondo, and most of TKD is also bull. Im a professional kickboxer now i use my taekwondo in my muay thai, but never have i seen or heard of a karatee or taekwondo form helping anyone. Expect for the attacker it helps him beat the shit out of you.

  • @MartialValor I sorry to hear that. I have trained in Shotokan Karate Traditional and for sport. I have also served 7 years in the military. The forms (kata) do work. In much the same way that I practiced for combat in the military you have to build up muscle memory that is to say. Do train in the hopes of getting a black belt but to gather skill and knowledge of the style. Tha Army teaches soldiers things as simple as how to run and fall. Over time these things become second nature.

  • @MartialValor You don't really learn Shotokan untill after you get your black belt. Everything up to that point is laying the fundation. Perhaps the same was true of Taekwondo. Example; before Bruce Lee the must powerful punch was attributed to a practictioner of Shotokan Karate. It works it just take awhile to build up the muscle memory and speed. In earliest incarnation there was no belt ranking system in karate. A black was literally attained though blood and sweat and grit.

  • @MartialValor you tube search this KARATE SHOTOKAN JKA Kumite. Real application victory is determined by knock out.

  • @bodaishinboy I know what JKA is. And its not all determined by KO, the KO rate is actually 1/8 fights that video is just highlights. Google it. and that Japanese karate they study and practice for over 10 years. When you do thai boxing or normal boxing you can use it and easily win a fight in less than 3 months. thats how you know karate is useless, i have a blac belt in kyokushin karate and taekwondo. Im provincial champion at TKD when i was 18 and 2nd place national 160 pound division.

  • @MartialValor You got me these are clips of sport fighting. Karate was never intended to be used for sport. There is no best style only good fighters. In general we all have the same weapons in hand to hand fighting. What it boils down to is who has the better reflexes and technique. I don't like to ground fight but that doesn't mean that I don't know how. If the 1st blow doesn't work, well that's why I have 2 hands and feet. Karate give form to chaos, the same as any fighting system.

  • @bodaishinboy Now i do Muay Thai, and fight professionally in Singapore and Thailand. The fact remins those specific japanese fights are heavily killed probably works well ina street fight jump in 1 hard hit faster than the opponent, if they are lucky they will get a KO. But what happens if they dont. or if they miss? They are grabbed punches thrown and it becomes a street fight. Muay thai has throws clinches elbows knees punches kicks and they dont stop fighting after 1 hit.

  • @MartialValor I had this same conversation on Sunday with a US Army soldier. I have trained for over 15 years in Shotokan Karate and 2 years in Ninjitsu. My take is it's not that one style is better than the other but rather the skill and talent of the fighter in that style. I have fought grapplers and won and I fight strikers and won. My karate instructor taught me throws and locks. My Ninjitsu instructor taught me ground fighting. The trick is to know your enemies strengths and weekness.

  • @bodaishinboy You'd get your ass kick in the street. period.

  • @MartialValor Fat chance. I grew up the street and have won fights against single and multiple oponents if you think karate is all I know then you are mistaken. I am 32 years old and am willing to bet that I have been around the block more times than you can count. I have fought for more than just belts and trophies.

  • @johnm543 there are some competitions where karateka's apply their form and technique. Im very proud of how karate fighters do in competitions.

If u think karate competitions sacrifices their form or tech, you should see silat competitions. They suck even more. No silat whatsoever. Whats the point in training?!

  • Comment removed

  • @johnm543 youre right,

  • @johnm543 its funny, because you are absolutely right, these guys suck and competitions are boring and biased. And most of the people participating suck as well, no technique, no stance, they don't block, and the pussies get all the points because they yell like retards whenever they flail their arms about towards the opponent.

  • @johnm543 "On the streets", sir, there is no "proper form" and you're lucky to maintain "proper technique". Perhaps I misunderstand your statement, but real fighting never looks pretty or anything like the kata & kicks that we do at the dojo.

However, I do agree with your comment in that training for a tournament can easily develop bad habits. Personally I believe in focusing on self-defense first & getting that into muscle memory before branching into tournaments & their rules.

  • @Talis29 i was always taught that you need 100% form while training, because at least half of it goes out the window when the shit hits the fan, and having had to defend myself on more then one occasion, i can attest to this. 50% form is still better then the 0% most people have when they get in a bad situation. Point sparring does nothing but develop bad habits as you said.

  • @johnm543 Or you could look at it this way - Some people don't like playing football, or basketball, or boxing. Some people like the 'sport' aspect of martial arts and this is the reason why they do it... Who says you have to confuse the self defence aspect with the sport aspects? Nobody. They are two different aspects of karate so don't be so narrow minded.

  • @johnm543 Yes but it is a sport NOT the street. Some people like to take up martial arts for sport and fitness reasons not just self defence reasons.

Why do people always get confused with the two? Very little sports techniques work on the street, even top professional boxers would not expect to land a 8 punch combination on the street like they do in the ring.

  • @johnm543 Competition makes you weak? Well this kind of competition might, but in general competition = progress. Bottom line is if its not full contact its bullshit!

  • @johnm543

    interesting points,

the competitions i have seen here in japan are different though,

ive seen alot of dangerous hits, and alot of times,

point are given only when somebody hits his opponent.

still controlled but it has to be obvious that i would have been a dangerous punch

    if not controlled.

thats beeing said, not everybody controlles perfectly and alot of blood and teeth go flying.

  • @johnm543 well said. i thought i might add something but i have changed my mind. you said what most foolish trophy hungry idiots need to hear. even i myself have won three national championships and i still agree that competition sucks. it really is like a high speed game of tag and nothing more. full contact/mma is where the real sport is at and the streets are where the real fight is at. there is no way to replace a good old fashion rocket propelled anvil of a strike or slam/takedown.

  • @johnm543 WORDS OF TRUTH MAN!!!! AHAHAA NEVER SEEN WORDS PUT TOGETHER ANY BETTER!!!!

  • @johnm543 very true, good comment

  • i hate tkd, its only kicks and kicks, y practice shotokan and i am 3 kyu, i really love my style

  • No, it's not only kicks in TKD.

I train it and I learn techniques and things by hand. We learn punches, and techniques with punches etc.

Well, in those battles Taekwondo can use punches, but it's not always they do it, and at some battles, it's not allowed.

    But that is only sometimes.

  • @ jfpbman

true. yet in shotokan im a 1st dan i like my style too

  • ya! tkd is anothe one of those types that don't kare about self control... more about being stronger than others... but thats only my opinion... dont be hatin and replying to this with angry comments... im jst saying what i notice with other taekwandoe people i know

  • @alexysXevilXtostito Ever notice how many tkd schools charge a lot, but don't give you much training time? (That happens in my neck of the woods, anyway...)

  • It's a bit of a crappy angle, but a decent video nonetheless.

  • tu video vale un pokito mas que la mierda, con la primera patada que mandaste deviste haver dejado K.O....

  • whats going on with the fuck off screams haha

  • anyone notice he had his headgear on backward??? hahaha....

  • shotokan karate is the best

  • Agree :D

  • Yeah, but only this fighter.

In the real it's logic that the person who is fighting is what the whole things depends on. Next video, or the next day TKD wins.

    Who knows?

  • Wha harse guys harse you just can't say that they suck balls

maby it's the're 1st time and they dunno what happens. The point is that they experience what is like being on the mat fighting

  • both poor fighters as a 1st dan in traditional shotokan and a 3 time national champion in aau traditonal karate i can say that the shotokan fighter was by no means a good representative of our style

  • I agree he makes us look bad im the mississipi shotokan state champion and i would have dropped him

  • I think it's all karate. If Taekwondo generally there was wrote 'TAEKWONDO' on the back of the Gi. And generally Taekwondo spar is look like it's really a spar. And karate spar is look like a fight a real fight.

  • They were both shite. The Sotokan guy won cos he over powered a weak fighter who clearly lacked confidence. This was not style ve style, but average fighter vs crap fighter

  • u dont have to be strong to point fight good.

    they both sucked

  • Shotokan Karate is about real fighting with all your resources and natural weapons. It teaches how to survive a street fight. TKD is Shotokan without basics so its an adulteration of Karate.

  • I noticed TKD hardly ever fights Karate outside their own rules... Shotokan is legit, and TKD (mostly in the US) is BS. Some TKD schools are actually good, the ITF version is better, and some schools are training TKD and boxing mixed. Nice kicks, and some nice punching. TKD is basically a BS version of Karate anyway... Its like 80% shotokan, but its become a game instead of a fighting art.

  • BS this is a no contact tag fight. TKD is full contact with KO's allowed and non stop action also this guy was not TKD he doesn't even wear a TKD do bok this was all karate.

  • the tkd fighter is lucky its not full contact, the karate guy would have raped him

  • Gay friendly this fighters are

  • lol who are you yoda

  • someone who knows when 2 fighters sucks

  • i agree its just that they way u said that they suck... you phrased your comment like yoda haha

  • How do the rules for Shotokan work? I'm a 2nd Dan WTF fighter who doesn't understand the scoring.

  • Unlike Taekwondo, Shotokan Karate allows to strike any part except the vital part of ur body which is unguard to make score,

but it's semi contact so we are not allowed to punch very hard to face or we will got point reduction, it's all about control.

    OSU!

  • kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Why do they stop after one hit??? They should fight until someone actually looses... Or with the protective gear they should fight till someone would have lost.

  • Putting the gear on and going rounds is also part of shotokan. I actually prefer that. But this is another type of training drill that helps you to recognize your opponent's first attack and work on your timing, distance, footwork, and feints. Here, it is done as a sport competition. Nothing more. It is a means to an end, not the end itself. Its just an exercise. Everyone knows its not a real fight. But, I'd use Shotokan in a real fight any day of the week. Believe me. It works. Oss.

  • I know shotokan works in real fights =)

In california half of my family on my dads side is Japanese and there is alot of gang stuff, our grandpa tought us Karate (Shotokan mostly) I moved to Oregon because of stupid gang stuff, and im proud to say iv never been in a gang fight... Or in a gang, but iv seen Kung fu and Karate, and Eskrima used in real fights in the street and they are legit, when tought correctly, they work very well, and they are scary, no one should EVER mess around with it

  • what? that must be freakin awesome man. to be in a shotokan temple and all. today ther are only kyokushin temples. i love kyokushin, but i think the combination of both is the most deadly karate

shotokan focuses on pure self defense, on pure survival. ther for it cant be full contact. uwouldnt make it past a sinlge kumite

kyokushin is then for the science of a fight and how to take a punch.

    shotokan is traditional

    kyokushin is modern

  • I totally agree with you man!

  • @GuamKomudo ur one of few people i ever hard say that but not alot of people ever want to addmit they work....we have a blackbelt who talks crap about old traditoinal drills....but i get inside most of his hooks, get position on his lunging techinques, even his knife sparring, step on his feet, put my foot behind his.... traditional works but it has to be blunt and direct

  • I do the foot stepping thing too lol

I am in a MMA class and I use Karate mostly, and boxers don't know how to react to lots of Karate.
