@TheKdizzle321 You still can write songs without an instrument. You should learn guitar though. It will teach you about beats as you learn and melodies will start to form easier. There's a saying, "If it sounds good, play it." :) I write songs without a guitar, though I can play. I'm just waiting til Christmas to get my own guitar.

@TheKdizzle321 i started like that too :) heres what i did.i tried lessons, but thst didnt work.teachers force you to do it their way.so i did my own thing.i write my songs lyrics 1st.then i have my story.then tunes come tj mind from me singing my songs.i just strum till i get the hit i'm looking for.now with the internet.theres lots of free vids to learn from.best thing to do IMO.write lyrics.then strum & just let it flow through you.I BELIEVE IN YOU!

Those chords are eagle eye cherry- save tonight. Its difficult to create music thats not been done but really it is endless. I write straight off the cuff kind of thing, I decide in my mind where I want it to go then use my experience to play it through my fingers. My music may sound odd but its deffinately original. You play very well. To expand your writing skills you have to eliminate what you have learnt and approach it from a different angle that way you dont use known chord variations.
