@sallymaggiespotty It is a fact the the Japanese were already nearing their decision to submit around the times the bombs were dropped. Recently revealed evidence suggests that Truman knew at Potsdam that Stalin would declare war against the japanese early in august.
Nearly two months before Hiroshima, Army Chief of Staff George Marshall advised the president that the soviet declaration of war would force Japan to surrender, making the need for american invasion unneccessary
